I heard he held him out for disciplinary reasons, but I don't know that for sure.

Jeff Rash on this week's Coach's Show said he has since been told that that was false and Peterson is a good kid with no discipline problems.

So my question is, who do we go to? Mt pleasant, gilmer or daingerfield? Each are different. Mt pleasant has a 5a atmosphere, daingerfield always good but smaller class atmosphere. I've heard a lot of people going to gilmer games cause similar in class, winning record, and close.... let me know your thoughts.

There's almost always plenty of room on the home side in Gilmer. Some of our opponents travel so well that their stands are packed, though. This was the case with Chapel Hill and Lindale this season. So be sure and sit on the home side if you start coming to our games.

I can't believe what has happened to L.E. All the players have left for all the other schools up there. L.E. has had athletes for Decades, but never had a coach that could put it together.

    Ahem ... 2006 ... Coach Pat Brady.

All I am going to say is PG is a very good team, obviously.  I do hope that Carthage smokes them in the playoffs.  That would make me extremely happy.  Carthage is probably the only team in our region that can give them a game, and possibly beat them, in my opinion.

    Carthage for #9, please!

If you mean 9 state championships, they already achieved that in 2022.

Any truth to the notion that Gilmer is probably moving up to 4AD1 and Lindale is growing so fast they'll be back in 5AD2?  Any other 4A/5A movements being rumored

I doubt it. They'd have to lower the cutoff number. Latest enrollment at GHS was reported to be 865. The cutoff number from last time was 879. These numbers usually move up.

  6. So I asked Google Bard LLM about this. My reading of this is they have until 10:30 or so tonight to resume the game or it will be considered a tie.

The Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO) has a rule called the "suspended game" rule that determines the outcome of a game that is not completed. The rule states that the game must be resumed from the point where it was suspended, and the team that is ahead at the end of the time remaining in the game wins. However, if the game cannot be resumed within 48 hours of the time it was suspended, the game is declared a tie.

Here are some examples of how the suspended game rule would be applied:

    • If a game is suspended with 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter and the home team is ahead 14-10, the game would be resumed from the 5-minute mark of the fourth quarter with the home team still ahead. If the home team scores a touchdown and converts the extra point, they would win the game by a score of 21-10.
    • If a game is suspended with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the visiting team is ahead 7-6, the game would be declared a tie. The game cannot be resumed within 48 hours of the time it was suspended, so the final score would remain 7-6.

The suspended game rule is designed to ensure that both teams have an equal opportunity to win the game. It also prevents teams from intentionally trying to get a game suspended in order to gain an advantage.

  7. I have just confirmed that the officials told Coach Metzel that the game would go in the win column for Gilmer.

So argue with them if you don't like it. No one likes the abbreviation of the game, but it is what it is.
