  1. What's the thoughts on this one? Somebody answer this, why is it that probably the best receiver and corner don't get the playing time he deserves? I'm referring to # 14 Lawhorn. He clearly has more speed and the best hands on the team. He is probably the best cover guy they have as well, yet he don't get the playing time as the others. I'm not knocking any of the other players, but I hope the coaches saw last night what Lawhorn is capable of. This young man is fun to watch. Zac threw some beautiful passes last night as well. Again some receivers dropped too many, but I do see them getting better each week though.
  2. See there you go again. You said you think they will run up against a team that will stop the run in the playoffs, well guess what we already have. Do you remember the Carthage game or do you want to forget that cause Zac got it done. Carthage did stop our run, but we still won anyway. Man just forget it cause evidently you don't know what your talking about. Don't bother responding because me and a lot of other people are done with you.
  3. We had speed without them. Don't get me wrong I'm glad to have them back. Evidently people don't know about #14, Ryen Lawhorn, he is a speedster. He was clocked at a 4.4 in the 40 in a college camp over the summer. Coaches say he is the fastest kid on the team. He has great hands as well and probably in my and some others opinion is the best receiver Gilmer has and he is only a junior. I have watched this whole junior class play since 7th grade and he is by far the best talented athlete in the junior class. I'm not trying to take anything away from the others because they are talented as well so don't read anything into this post. I'm just trying to give this young kid some love cause he deserves it like all the others that are talked about on here. In my opinion I think they need to throw him the ball more. He can get the separation. Again not taking anything away from the other players, but he deserves recognition as well when y'all talk about the others. He is also a great corner as well.
  4. Thank you BigRedFan. I just want the negativity to stop from our fans and just let the boys play and the coaches coach. We don't have to agree with what plays are called or where whoever son needs to be playing. We just need to get behind them and hopefully continue the winning streak. I am in the stands at every ballgame and I hear people around me talking about the coaching and the players. I hope the ones doing this understands that coaches wives and the players parents can hear them. If you are going to say something say it low enough where other people can't hear you. In other words keep your negative comments to yourself and spare the feelings of the wives and parents.
  5. Looks like we will have Ryen Lawhorn, Lucas Garrett, and Demarco Boyd at 100% finally the start of district. Also LaMarcus should be back as well, although it will probably take him a while to get into playing shape. This week break should get everybody back healthy. I see this Buckeye team turning it around and improving before playoff time, which I think they are a little each of the past five games. You have to remember, all of the skilled players, on offense, playing this year are playing and starting for the first time at the varsity level. We have the speed and talent to get it done. People can say what they want to about this team, the Buckeyes are 5-0 going into district play. Does it really matter what the scores were? All that matters is that they get a little better each week. All I have been reading is the Buckeyes aren't very good or "they don't impress me", but yet we are 5-0. We got it done against 2 great teams in Liberty Eylau and Carthage, not taking anything away from Tatum, Pine Tree, or Daingerfield which were good. No we are not the team from last year, but who has the team we had last year? The team we had last year was every high school coaches dream, that don't happen in East Texas. So Gilmer fair weather fans quit harping on the team from last year or years past and get behind the team we have this year. We have some talented athletes on this team so lets pick them up and show some PRIDE for this group of youngsters. It's all about "FAMILY" this year, so let's act like one and stop doubting the players and coaches. If you get offended reading this, then you are the one or ones I'm referring to. So stop the negativity and saying so and so should be playing in a certain position. I'm not saying you have to agree with the decision, but you should respect it. After all they are getting paid to make those decision. If you want to make it then get a degree and get your on team. I for one don't agree with some things that go on, but I do respect all the coaches and players and will not ever doubt them in their abilities. With that said GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I think Gilmer will do just fine this year. Yes we lost 9 key starters on offense, but our defense will hold their own. I saw on another thread where someone was saying the receivers are slow this year, well I know of 5 receivers that run a true 4.4 or 4.5- 40. They were clocked in camps they went to this year. Do not take the Buckeye receivers lightly because they will destroy defenses this year. As for our QB, he is an accurate passer and yes he can throw the deep ball as well. Don't take him lightly either. The varsity players that are playing now, I have watched them since they started in the 7th grade. This team is very talented and will prove that this year. We may not have the talent we had last year, but this group has talent as well.
  7. I have no idea BuckNut where you are getting your info from but they do run a 4.4 and 4.5-40's. I know of a couple that did that at some camps they attended this year.
  8. Coach Lane is a beast at coaching the wide receivers. Very smart man. Look for him to be a AD in the near future.
  9. There should be no problem with speed from the receivers or cornerbacks again this year. All have great hands and the QB has the arm strength to get it to them. There are several receivers and corners that run a 4.4- 40. If that isn't fast enough then yes we will have problems. I think the Buckeyes will be just fine again. They will surprise a lot of people this year. Coach Turner and the rest of the coaching staff will have them ready. You can count on that.
  10. Gasilla sounds like you are the one underestimating Gilmer. By reading your posts you think WOS has already won the trophy. I for one am not underestimating WOS by no means since that's who we will be playing they must be good, but so is Gilmer and yall will see that Friday.
  11. In case nobody has heard Gilmer is the home team at Jerry's world.
  12. Also there was a post on here about our 2012 season when Navasota beat us in the State game. This is correct, but what people didn't know is we were never supposed to be there either because we were in a rebuilding year that year. Now those players are seniors. Watch out WOS.
  13. I'm not bigorange. I'm sure some Celina fans were respectful and don't judge some Buckeye fans on a few as well. Some of us are humble. Good luck to yall in the future.
  14. Gilmer will be the home team at Jerry's world Friday at noon. I am reading some posts on here where WOS is going to destroy Gilmer and that Gilmer will be lucky to score one touchdown against them. WOW that was horrible. Evidently you have not seen Gilmer play or any other East Texas team for that matter. WOS and fans will have a rude awakening come next Friday. We (Gilmer coaches, players and fans) have heard the same thing all year long that we aren't that good. The Celina coach said in an interview during the week before Gilmer played them that he wasn't very impressed with Gilmer's offense. After the game he changed his story to "Gilmer has the best team and offense he has EVER seen". We will see what happens Friday. Watch out SETX here comes East Texas football at its finest. Do not underestimate Gilmer because they will shock you. That's a promise.
  15. Yes Celina fans were very disrespectful when our boys were walking through the tunnel last night telling them why don't you just go home now cause we already have this one. I also read where the coach from Celina was saying in an interview before the game that Gilmer's skill players were the same as Sweetwater's skill players, so what that tells me he was not impressed with our players. I wander what he was thinking after the first quarter? After hearing and reading all of this I was hoping for a bigger score from the Buckeyes, but I will take what we had which was 67-14. WOW what a dominating game by the Buckeyes in a semi-final game. I don't think they can be stopped. Those boys will play their hearts out at Jerry's world and they will leave it all on the field. Good luck Buckeyes at state and I will be there cheering you on win or lose. Y'all have proved that y'all are the best in Texas and will not be stopped from bringing the trophy back home to East Texas. I will be cheering for Waskom and Mineola as well. Let's show them what East Texas has.
