  1. Not taking anything away from Mt Vernon. Hooks was without 5 players when the game was played last year. Then the starting QB broke his arm in the first play from scrimmage for Hooks. Hooks was fortunate to do what they did last year with everyone that was out. Hornet blue was correct when he said 2 college players were out in all that mess. QB first game without a cast was against Daingerfield. Again, Mt Vernon might have still won but the game would have been way closer. I felt Daingerfield was far superior to Mt Vernon when you talk about team athleticism.
  2. This whole district got a huge break when Hooks lost their QB going to Air Force. With him in the line up this is a completely different team. I saw them play against Daingerfield and the sophomore kid is doing a good job being thrown in their but still no where near the team with the Johnson kid on the field. A 3a school can't replace a D1 QB in a few games or much less 10 football seasons. I honestly believe with him on the field any team Hooks has played so far would be lucky to be within 3 touchdowns. They really impressed me beating Dangerfield without that kid on the field. QB loss is such an unforgiving position. Ask the Dallas Cowboys.... and with the talent Hooks has on this team he was more detrimental than #21 going down because of the position and experience he has playing that position. O that being said # 21 is a different level kid. Hooks and other teams have great players in the district but # 21 for Hooks isn't just one of the best players around here he is one of the best players in the country. Why he is a longhorn commit....and why Saban and every other college coach in the country has reached out to him.
  3. I have no dog in the fight but was at this game. People talk about Hooks being 1-3. Hooks Lost a Division 1 QB not just some some kid that is a good 3a Texas High School Football Player. They lost an exceptional player and one of the best players in East Texas at the most unforgiving spot to lose a player in this sport.(reference Dallas Cowboys). I think this needs to be taken into account. It was all Hughes Springs could do to win this game with two kids playing QB that before this year had never taken a varsity football snap and the one moving the ball on Hughes Springs in the 2nd half never played Jr High Football because he came from Red Lick where they have no football. This being said i am not taken anything from Hughes Springs they got a call that went their way and won a very close game. Hughes Springs is a very good football team anyone says otherwise might need to start watching some other sport in High School. I think teams in district with Hooks should be concerned because towards the end of that game Hooks was moving the ball with a sophomore QB from red lick. If Hooks can find someone to get the ball to their skill players consistantly i would be afraid to play Hooks come playoff time even without the Johnson kid.
  4. I am adding 31 to that list of people they know.
  5. I bet u guys know # 21 now. Prob 24 and 18 as well. Let the excuses begin.
  6. The answer is no they wouldn't. Don't want to take anything away from Red Oak life they played their hearts out... however Clarksville easily wins with Moore and definitely had a shot at going back to Austin. You can't cry over spoiled milk. Whatever caused Moore to be in the stands instead of on the court definitely hurt Clarksville all the way around. The kids from Clarksville without Moore played very hard and made a good game of it. I feel sorry for the Beaty kid more than any because he is a senior and he left it all on the court. Anyone that has ever played this game that actually understands the game knows it is next to impossible to replace a standout starter during the playoffs. Had Moore not been there all through district or at least the warm up games as talented as Clarksville is i would have still give them a shot at Austin without him. Losing a player like Moore right at the first playoff game is tough. That being said Clarksville fans has a lot to look forward to ... at one time against red oak life according to the little book had 2 sophomores 2 juniors on the floor. If the 6'7 8th grader is anywhere near as good as they say i am sure they will be fine again next year.
  7. Fact is .... at the end of the day Clarksville beat White Oak. They are the better team that is the fact. No matter if clarksville had 2 practices, when they played, or how bad White Oak shot a loss is a loss. I wonder if Hooks Hornet fans are at home saying well If White Oak dont get that foul call at half court with the game tied with about 30 seconds left they would have won? I am sure the mumford fans are saying the same thing about how well they shot. I am sure Clarksville's defense had nothing to do with that. I personally think they are both great teams and both deserved their state crowns ( the carr kid is a winner no on can take that from White Oak)... but that last post "mATRANSFERI posts" makes no sense.

  11. Yeah Avery was without leading scorer and point guard, but with recent struggles lately i would say they were out manned against MM.
