  1. Wow ~ 149 pages and still going strong. Carry on.
  2. **Stands back to back with ETBU89 and defeats all that come forth**

    Are You Not Entertained????? LOL

  3. Thanks to the class of the total operation, Coach Pop, and the dedication of the players. They are truly a community team, where each member is dedicated to charity and community involvement. They are amazing men and women in this organization. I LOVE my SPURS!
  4. One correction: They go to UIL Marching Contest every year. From there, it is an every other year competition for Area and then hopefully State. NAMMB (if your school's band is military) is every year. Used to be a GREAT competition when held at A&M, but that argument exists on the Band Forum - yes, Virginia, there is a Band Forum. Band trips are usually every other year to every three years. Being a Band Nerd, Band Parent, Band Director's Spouse is fun. Enjoy your time with your kids; they'll be grown before you know it.
  5. Indeed they are. Every time this happens, they win. Shhhhhh.... Don't tell anyone.
  6. Marshall ISD has announced its unanimous decision to name as the lone finalist for its vacant superintendent position Dr. Marc Smith. Dr. Smith currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of the Fort Bend ISD in Houston. Prior to Fort Bend ISD, he worked in Klein ISD as teacher, coach, assistant principal, associate principal, and principal. Dr. Smith holds a Doctorate from University of Houston in Administration and Supervision, a Master's Degree from Prairie View A&M in Administration and Supervision, and a Bachelor's Degree from Texas Southern University in Human Performance. In 2010, Dr. Smith completed the Urban Superintendent Academy at Harvard University located in Boston, Massachusetts. He has three children, the youngest a freshman in high school. As per the law, Marshall ISD cannot contract Dr. Smith for 21 days after naming him the lone finalist. At the end of that time, he will be officially hired as Superintendent.
  7. I always thought he would go to LSU, but I'm thrilled to hear he will be in the maroon and white next year. I love the Aggies! What a prize they have in E.
  8. Congrats to Mark Melton at Pine Tree. First year there - great job!
  9. I'd retire, too, if I was now getting called for the fouls I had been committing my entire career. I'm not sorry to see him leave. Have a good life; thanks for the memories; bye-bye!
  10. Congratulations to Mark. He is a great band director and an even better person! Good luck to him and Pine Tree.
  11. Well, the big get together is this Saturday night. Maybe the information will be "spilled" then.
  12. It could be out of respect to the man hired. He wants to tell his kids rather than have them hear through the media. Maybe?
  13. So who got the Pine Tree job? Heard the school board held a meeting last night to vote on either Mr. Durham or Mr. Melton. Anyone know?
  14. Teachers pay will probably be frozen. Administrators are probably taking a pay cut. Some administrator positions are possibly being cut. GT will probably take a big hit. HOWEVER, everything was tabled until tonight's meeting. Everyone should know something by tomorrow. Everything (until tonight's meeting) is still considered just a possibility. Teacher pay cannot be "cut," but it can be frozen. A stipend is not set by the State; therefore, it can be lowered or raised at will.
  15. Marshall staff has already been notified of all cuts. Nothing new tonight except the voting, unless I have misunderstood. The news stations are sensationalizing as though everyone is going to be there waiting to hear the names of those who won't have jobs. Really....
  16. In the superintendent's defense, however, he/she must let employees know whether their contracts have been approved 45 days from the last day of instruction. For many districts, that was this past week. The State has created this fiasco in that they won't do what they need to do in order for districts to know what money they have or don't have. As one superintendent friend put it: The State wants two things - consolidation of smaller districts AND for districts to use up their "savings." My superintendent has taken plenty of "heat" and has handled it with grace, integrity, tact, and dignity. It has been a painfully difficult time for him. From what I understand, my school district has trimmed from the top down. There have been major cuts in Admin, cuts in salaries, salary freezes, and reduction in teacher, paraprofessional, and hourly staff. Guess I'll know by tomorrow if I am one of them.
  17. No crack, I just have a lot of faith in the Lady Dawgs and the coaches. These are a great group of ladies and I will support them until the final out of the final game - whatever game that may be.
  18. With the husband and wife coaching team that I've heard they have AND the quality of players, I expect this year's team to make a deep run into the playoffs - they could very well be in the championship game. They should have been there last year. This year's team is just as strong if not stronger. Keep an eye on them! :yelp:
  19. Yes, they do, and it is incredible! Cedar Hill SLC Trinity Coppell
  20. Have an extreme dislike for the Rockets. Decimate them, Dawgs!
  21. Why did the other teachers just "look on"? I am female - not small, but small enough that my 8th graders tower over me. If I am attacked, I will defend myself, but hopefully, only to the point that I get the kid under my control or until help comes. What disturbs me is that apparently "help" was just watching.
  22. Hallsville, Friday night, May 14 @ 6:30 p.m.
  23. I used to make fried pies all the time when I was a teenager. I used the canned biscuits. Roll them out, put at least a fourth a cup of pie filling, fold over, pinch the edges to seal the filling inside, and fry. Drain. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Simple, but tasty! My favorite was probably lemon or blueberry. I haven't made fried pies in forever....

    SPURS vs MAVS

And they proved it again last night. I have promised myself and all around me that I will not be obnoxious this year. Just can't help myself.... Go, SPURS, Go!
