A lot of chaos and misunderstanding would be eliminated if all schools would have a mic on an official and the pa guy would not try to announce the call. They are so wrong more often than not.

This would be fine if: A) coaches have NO input. Most are pretty ignorant of the rules, have no idea of mechanics and sour pusses when they loses. B) you apply same principle to the coaches. Their pay based on how the parents feel they coached.

Curious if cop and school will be held accountable for actions...doubt if. Rarely are.

If the ref felt cop is not doing his job and protecting players, coaches and officials; suspend game until cop does he job. I have seen this happen in Texas. Had a cop that was useless and was leading the whining on sideline. Officials went to game site administrator and had cop get inline or game would be suspended. You don't confront a cop. You will lose no matter the situation. People will always assume they are right and they have the power. Looks like to many egos were involved and bad decisions made.

2 changes I would like the UIL to do and could see them do. 1) rotate games between Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. 2) have the 4a and 5a playoffs start 1 week later than rest. Allows small schools to play on weekends. Also allows the uil have small school in Houston one weekend and big schools in Dallas next. Then next year rotate.

Lobo, Exactly. If a team or a player was pray they wouldn't need to wait until everyone was watching to do it. I have no problem with prayer in public. I love seeing people prayer before they start eating. I would have a problem to watch them stand up and pray in front if everyone at the food counter and then start dropping F bombs and trying to fight other customers. That is what you see most Friday nights with football prayers.

When the only time you have anything to do with God during the week is your kneel down in the endzone before a game; it is called showing off not setting an example. It is about you and you looking cool not about The Lord. Until most of those players and coaches actions during the game and post game activities; then those public prayers don't mean much.

1. Players and coaches who think they have to show everyone how Christian they are by going into endzone and pray while holding up start of game. Obviously there was no time or audience to pray in locker room. Especially when you know they will go get drunk after the game and become very unChristianlike during the game. 2. Those that demand you honor the country with The National Anthem yet don't take time to vote or serve in the military or do everything they can to get out of jury duty. 3. People who complain about rules when they have never owned nor opened a rule book and they get their rule knowledge from play by play guys who don't know anymore than they do.

That is odd. Of the 19 schools I attended growing up Marshall, Longview and Sabine were the most spoiled set of kids I was ever around. Moving to bigger communities; it was alot less worse. Seen the same thing with my own kids. Living in metroplex been surprised how much friendlier and more open to people and work kids and families are.

You're right. UIL is known for their integrity and doing what is right by students. That is the only thing they care about. I was wrong and you are right.

If I remember reading he is only a junior. A nice little phone call to dad and jr saying "write letter or we may have to suspend your senior year of eligibility while we investigate further" This is the UIL we are talking about.

I still say it is a bad rule that bc you hurt an officials feelings they can DQ a team after the fact. There is no reports anywhere that say a baton was thrown. But like stated above, a rule is a rule. My question is; why was the school appealing the decision after the fact. The school leadership (Supt and AD) should have supported the rules not their athlete. Fight to change rule; don't fight to have rule ignored.

I do love how a rumor on Smoaky became fact with this story. There are several articles written and I have yet to see any mention the Smoaky Forum fact of throwing the baton. If you can draw people offsides because it is so easy; then you draw them offsides. ;)
