I was thinking the same thing about the girls moving in the middle of the semester. I just didn't know about North Forney being ranked as high in the state polls as they are because they are a new school. I understand pitching will carry you a long way, but in the end you have to have defense and hitters as well to advance deep in the playoffs. Crossroads proved that last year reaching the state tournament with a very good pitcher and not much offense to help her. We will see, I have heard Van has 2 young but very good pitchers which should help them. I am curious about Lindale to know why they are ranked so high in the state polls. They should be very good in 3A play, and will be very interesting on how they end up in their district. Right now i would have to pick them finishing 1st in the district followed by Van, the third place spot is up for grabs as I see it, but i'm just a rookie.

I was told that Canton has 2 sisters who moved in from Forney. I think they are pitchers, this could help their chances in the playoffs.

I was looking at the state poll and was a little suprised to see North Forney at #5. Maybe they will surprise everyone. Lindale is #9 in the state at this time. Does anyone know anything about Van? They are ususally in the playoff's. I've been told they are going to strong again this year. Has anyone else heard anything about Van or anyone else in North East Texas?

Yes the girl i'm talking about is the pitchers little sister. I've been told she has been taking catching lessons and I have talked to her travel coach last week. She is a very good player and will help Slocum. I plan on being at the regional championship game. It will be a good one!

I will try to be at the Grapeland vs Slocum game. I hear Slocum has a good freshman playing for them this year.

Chelsey Moore from Van verbally committed to Southern Arkansas

Van had 3 seniors sign last week. Taylor Wilson and Jessica Marshburn both signed with Navarro. Dara Henden signed with Paris Junior College.

The lady vandals are starting to look a lot better. It seems that they can really hit and are cutting down on the errors that were plaguing them earlier.

Any word on the Tyler tournament?

Update on the White Oak/Spring Hill tournament. Van Beat Kilgore Varsity with Shelby Harris and Maranda Goode again hitting home runs and also beat Eustace. They play again Friday at 6 - 8 and Saturday at 11:30. Shelby Harris is also starting to show a lot of improvement in her pitching. Van is fielding a 5 freshman in the lineup.

I have seen Taylor pitch also and she is going to be a pitcher to watch next year. I thought she was in 9th grade

How did the Lady Vandal softball team fair in the Marshall tournament? Was passing through Harmony last Monday and saw a freshman hit one over the fence with 2 on base for their 3 runs. Harmony ended up winning the game but Van pretty good but young. Looked like Shelby pitched a pretty good game against a good Harmony team.
