  1. Congrats to Gilmer on yet another win in this series.... What hurt GW was the fumble on the kickoff, and two roughing the passer penalty's, one that happend on a 3rd & 10 incomplete pass in the second qtr that could of changed the momentum and got the GW defense off the field. It was mistake, but these are kids and mistakes happen. Gilmer offense is good, obviously, BUT come playoff time, I'm not sure its good enough to make up for their defensive issues. #7 is a fast kid and #24 runs like marshawn lynch, I wouldn't complain about who is getting the ball, they are both effective. QB is also a good runner and if his WR are open he seems to make the throws (most look pre-determined but i'm sure that's the offensive philosophy). For GW they need to build on the performance and take it to ATL next week. Just because you can get up and play with Gilmer doesn't mean squat if you lay an egg this week or next. Also I will note it was refreshing to see some creative play calling on the offense for GW. Still ran the ball at will and averaged 6.2 yards per carry. But also was 6-11 passing for 113 yards. By my tally and I'm sure Golfingnut has a little different the stats were as such: Gilmer team: Rush 32 carriers 223 yards Pass 10-18 148 yards passing GW Team 54 rushes 340 yards 6-11 passing 113 yards
  2. Davis is as healthy as he has been this year.... He played both ways last friday and i expect more of the same tonight.... i'm not worried about whether GW can or wont throw the ball, i'm worried about whether GW can keep gilmer from scoring every time they touch it
  3. Looking forward to the game, as always. Gilmer has the better record and more explosive offense for sure. GW has played well vs Gilmer in the past --> 2016 @ Gilmer - Gilmer 35 GW 28 2015 no game vs each other 2014 @ Longview (playoffs) - Gilmer 41 GW 35 2013 @ Gilmer - Gilmer 52 GW 14 2012 @ GW - Gilmer 21 GW 13 AVG Gilmer 37 GW 22 Here's to hoping GW to be around in the 4th qtr with another chance to win this game, its always a fun one!
  4. I dont think GW's 2nd half struggles have anything to do with being in or out of shape..... I honestly don't know what to attribute it to, I would assume its adjustments the other teams are making at halftime and we arent adjusting to their adjustments quick enough....
  5. surely you dont expect me to actually watch a band march....?
  6. i've never in my life seen SH fans trash talk about an upcoming football game.... guess there's a first time for everything
  7. I think its a foregone conclusion GW will be dropping to 3A-D1 next year.... I personally won't enjoy the football as much.... It's more fun as a fan to play against the Gilmers, PG's, Carthage, Kilgore, etc.... won't get those games (more than likely) if you drop to 3A....
  8. what's the biggest difference in this year's Spring Hill team compared to last year's which went 0-5 in district? Is it simply the offense? SH scored 13 points a game last year in district....
  9. It wont be good enough... go to playoffs and lose and it will be the coaches fault for losing in the playoffs..... same story different week....
  10. What if, Lindale has more talent more GW seeing as they are a 5A school & GW is a 4A...? Kilgore is 4-1 (Kilgore is probably better than GW), we beat center and chapel hill has only lost to Henderson (a lot of people will) and Whitehouse a 5A school.... so its possible Chapel Hill is also a better team than GW.... is that the coaches fault? This aint the pros you cant go out and sign free agents to fit your position needs, you play who you have and coach em up... Could a different scheme fit these particular players better? I would say no. Most "fans" in the stands want Gladewater to throw the ball more, I dont see that being successful with this team... The only thing I would try if I was on the staff (and this may even be a naive statement) is different formations and different type of running plays... you know some tosses here, some counters here, a RB dive, a FB dive, a lead play, a read option, etc... but guess what, THEY DO THIS FOR A LIVING, THEIR FAMILIES DEPEND ON THEM TO DO WHATS BEST TO WIN GAMES.... and you want me to belive they arent doing everything in their power to win games...? you want me to belive they just the ball 40 times a game just to prove a point? no they are doing what they think is best.... on to the bye week and on to district....
  11. I wasn't making it up.... that's not my forte....
  12. From Regan Roy's (KETK) twitter: "Per Gilmer High's Brian Bowman (Gilmer high school principal): There are only 130 tickets tickets left for Gilmer-Carthage. No tickets will be sold at the game."
  13. my bad, thought you were mentioning GW gilmer game....!
  14. To the people asking when to get there to secure good seats on the vistior side, the answer is be in line before the gates open. Gw @ Gilmer last year was a 7:30 kickoff, I believe the gates opened at 6 and the GW side was full by 6:15. Carthage has a much bigger fan base than GW (though GW people do show up for gilmer game) so I'm sure it will fill up just as fast. Schools should look into temporary bleachers for games like this, seems like it would only increase revenue/atmosphere.
  15. The GW Gilmer game in 2014 was absolutely a sell-out. EVERY seat was full and people were sitting on the hill at Lobo Stadium, now the fire marshall may not of stopped people from coming in but it was definitely considered a sell-out. There are some crazy pics of the amount of people at that game.... I'm sure i can find one somewhere.
  16. to save y'all a click --> The new rules are as follows: 1. All children must be with an adult. If they are left unattended, the police will keep them until school officials find the parent. Last week, GISD had a lot of kids in elementary and intermediate who were unattended and high school administrators had to babysit. This will not happen this week. 2. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. Fans will not be allowed to arrive early and place blankets out to save seats. Please be respectful of others. 3. There will be no standing in the middle walkway. Everyone must be in a seat. 4. Only GHS students will be allowed in the student section. No one younger and no one from another school will be allowed. 5. Tickets go on sale Tuesday at the GISD Administration Building. Once pre-sale tickets are sold out, Gilmer will not sell anymore until game night. Once tickets are sold out at the game, and the Gilmer Fire Department says the stadium is at capacity, GISD will not let anyone else in. They'll have fun trying to keep #1 from happening!
  17. Why in the world would Gilmer consider Spring Hill a rival...? I'm not trying to disrespect SH but their last season having a winning record in district play (and the season for that matter) was 10 years ago (2007)..... SH hasnt been relevant for a whole decade. I realize GW hasnt beaten Gilmer in a long time but they have a history of making playoffs and playing Gilmer close.... But SH? as a bigger rival than Carthage? I dont buy that for one second....
  18. hmmm.... lot of love for CH here early in the week
  19. It was Sanchez.. had a TD in first qtr. was a junior last year. I'd expect Sanchez to be utilized more as the year goes on, either by receiving more passes or in the run game...
  20. Sanchez is 6'5 here's a portion of a different etsn.fm article --> "Sanchez (6-5, 327) is a blocking specialist in Gladewater's run-oriented, I-formation offense. However, he did surprise opposing defenses with four catches for 126 yards and one touchdown en route to an area round appearance in the 2016 Class 4A Division II state playoffs and a final record of 8-3. Some universities might see Sanchez as a lineman at the next level, but Baylor broke the tight end mold in 2015 with LaQuan McGowan, a six-foot-seven and 390-pound former offensive lineman."
  21. 2016 GW 56 Center 15 2015 GW 38 Center 36 2014 GW 56 Center 22 Can GW get their season heading in the right direction this week and continue the winning streak vs Center or is it Centers turn to get some revenge vs the Bears? Only time will tell -- Center people, what's been the biggest issue for y'all this year? Why the 0-2 start?
  22. You are right, a flip was switched and Kilgore took the game over but my opinion is Carthage in week 1 was better than Kilgore in week 2..... Carthage obv runs a diff offense than Kilgore (not saying Kilgore cant throw the ball but they didnt have to vs gw, regardless they are a run first team).... Carthage looked bigger, stronger, and faster on both sides of the ball.
