  1. Porter was 1-9, but you have to keep in mind they played with "NO" seniors. No senior class. Pretty standard for most new 4A and 5A schools to only win 1 or 2 games in their first season without seniors. As I stated in my other post, they had a 10-0 freshmen group, so it "looks" as if they have some good kids coming. Within a year or two they will most likely win just as much as T-high has the last four years. According to the records T-high is averaging 7 wins a season over the last four seasons. That doesn't seem like an unobtainable goal for Coach Britton at Porter, so not sure there is actually a better chance of winning at T-high compared to any other competitive 4A school. Lots of schools with good coaching win 6,7, or 8 games a year. Money as a DC at T-high would probably be comparable though. As far as the Atlanta DC, I'm sure McClure will hire one on paper but I would bet he still runs a big part of it. It is an OC he will have to really sink some thought into.
  2. I don't see Coach Britton or Coach Moore returning to the Piney Woods anytime soon. They have a pretty good gig they are building in North Houston at Porter High. They took some expected lumps with the "New School" thing this past year, and are now working to be serious contenders soon. They have spent lots of time and hard work building the first year and they are just getting their first off-season with the kids. Their freshmen group went 10-0 in the very talented 18-4A district and things are looking pretty good for them in the near future. I don't think Britton is even considering a move back to a 3A Atlanta that will also need some rebuilding. Coach Britton's next move will most likely be for a head coaching job and not another DC job. He is also getting paid VERY well. Probably more as a DC for Porter than McClure is as the AD/HF for Atlanta.
  3. Bevo da lost one, 2006.... Whitehouse 28 - Kilgore 14. Guess this wasn't in your lifetime????? Kilgore also JUST missed the playoffs that year due to a 4th quarter loss by dahouse to Nac the last game of district play. As always, I'm sure your GREAT positive support for WH is NOT appreciated!
  4. His DC will be a Texas High guy. He has been at Thigh for like 10 years. A couple of Whouse assistants WILL be going as well is what I was just told. Just not sure HOW many at this point? He will be putting together an ENTIRE staff so he will have plenty of openings to work with.
  5. Coach Moore is about to become a head coach somewhere. SH may very well be the place. He wasn't really looking last year, but when he saw those $$$$ that Pine Tree was throwing out, he jumped in the hunt. Spring Hill would be a good place for him to start his program and he would be a good shot in the arm for the panthers as well. He is also wanting to stay in East Texas.
  6. No names for certain as to who is interviewing. Hire is suppose to take place in late Jan. so hang tight.
  7. Aggie, it does not take an Admin Cert to be an AD. That's required of principals and asst principals. The classes required for that certificate have ZERO to do with running an athletic program. Hook 'em Horns!
  8. They may not want Berry, but it is most likely Berry doesnt want to be a Panther. He has been around a VERY high level, and also a VERY high calliber athlete. Not very many of those in SH. Two very different atmospheres.
  9. Great Playoff venues are simple; Seating Playing Surface Parking Lighting Atmosphere
  10. Whitehouse exposed them and their lack of secondary play. Sure they beat the Wildcats up and won, but when you give 225 yards passing(mostly in first half) to a 3-7 team with a soph QB, then that is not good. I for one would love to see them win it all, but i have some serious doubts. Best of luck Lobo's!
  11. Just heard Whithouse OC is not applying! Best of luck to the tigers! Hope you find a good one to add to Smithcounty Football success!
  12. Best of luck to the Bullard kids, because it can happen. Many of the same things were alwYs said about Whitehouse. Then; BAM, they were winning games against Kilgore, Jacksonville, Marshall, and Sulphur Springs. These were teams they were NEVER suppose to beat, but yet have. Now they are even having to set goals of being at a Longview level. Good luck and never say it can't happen!
  13. You just have to find the right coach, and Bullard has really just never lucked into that guy. Whitehouse went years with the same questions and bad fits. WHS and BHS are right next door to each. NEVER say it can't be right. NEVER say a Basketball, Baseball AD is the answer. That is an out to other problems. Could a Basketball AD be good? Sure. Is it best for Texas High School kids as a majority? NO! Biggest participation #'s are always in football and that is good for most school districts. Wally Dawkins as AD at Whitehouse would have been a total disaster and bad for most students. Is it ok at BH? I guess, so far. Bullard just needs to have everything line up just right, as Whitehouse did, and they will get to experience great things. Best of Luck!
