  5. @ the state meet Sat: Quinton Thomas won the 220 weight class--wasn't his best day but he did enough to win. squat 680-which was a state record for a little while until another kid got 700. Bench 410-state record-he got 430 on his last attempt but was called for uneven lock out. and did 590 on dead lift. his total was 1680--20 lbs away from the state record but also 20 lbs away from his best total (1700) which is a regional record he set 2 weeks ago. Dylan Sells finished in 3rd place in the 275 weight class. he had a good day. Squat 640, Bench 415, and 575 on Dead Lift. The two together got a 4th place Team trophy. To put some football in here--Quinton has committed to play FB next yr @ ETBU.

  10. im guessing ,coach, i dont know thanks for comments

  11. i'm talking about dist--this dist is a lot tougher. Even Bullard the last place team had a D1 QB/DB
  12. actually we went 6-4 last yr w/ a much tougher sched. and it is my conf. period --papers graded, all grades in grade book, mewt w/ dept head, read a chapter in my bible, then got on smoaky to see what advice obama bear had today! been up since 5 am--watched film while i worked out in my garage. anything else?
  13. nothing neg about R-ville but the kids were not very strong. they didn't do extra lifting (after school, Holidays, summer, etc...) He might have had a good program in place, but for 1 reason or another the kids were not very strong. and it takes more than just R-ville to have a successful program. By the way R-ville is good at what does he can gets the kids going.
  14. exactly--if we win out we r dist champs--if we win 1 of 2 and Tatum loses to S.H. we r #2. not bad for a team that returned only 2 kids on offense and 5 on defense.
  15. Another thing to clear up is something i've been guilty of in the past but have learned otherwise: we can't blame Hussman--there are/were other issues. The more I learn the more I realize he was the scape goat / fall guy. The program had problems and as AD he was resp. but we can't say it was all his fault.
  16. #1-there is more to a program being down than W's and L's. Callaway was brought in to "clean up the program". There were serious character & discipline issues when he got here and the powers that be knew Callaway is a character guy and is all about running a good program. He refuses to sacrifice discipline for a win. Sometimes that has hurt--here and at Big Sandy-we've lost/removed kids that could help but were unwilling to do things right. Some won't even come out b/c they know they have to pass a drug test and stay out of trouble. The Supt / S.B. told Callaway to clean things up--he's done that.-he's done his job--well. The kids that grad. from the program are good kids b/c callway won't allow them to be anything else. Whats more important a win or kid that goes on to be a good husband, father, & worker?
  17. Obama bear once again ur talking about stuff u know nothing about--u drive a bus--how about u stick to that. #1-there is more to a program being down than W's and L's. The kids that grad. from the program are good kids b/c callway won't allow them to be anything else. Whats more important a win or kid that goes on to be a good husband, father, & worker? #2 Its the coaches job to get the kids to play hard--name one game the last 2 years where we have not shown up to play. Every team will tell you that we show up. our kids play hard. thats all you can ask as a coach is for the guys to play hard. #3 Kinda goes along w/ #1--there was no off-season when we got here--we had starting lineman that couldn't bench more than 200 lbs--now look how strong we are--we have 2 kids that bench 400 lbs and several over 300 lbs-- our skill kids now are stronger than the lineman were when we got here--so as u can see we've made progress. Look we get it--u want us gone--ok-- but is running us down to the kids gonna help them--is that gonna make us win?????
  18. its gonna be a busy week-- we're still waiting for our special consultant to come by and teach us the finer points of the spread & help install the 3-3 stack.
  19. thank you buckeyefever--4 a buckeye u have some sense!!!!! you hit the nail dead on the head--u must know him to know he hangs out w/ the kids
  20. we went 5-18 w/ 3 ints last year vs gilmer? by the way not one but 2 of their db's have committed to D1 schools--lets air it out vs the D1 secondary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
