  1. Congratulations to the folks from Mart. IMO, being there and doing that helped Mart realize that they could make it happen last night when Cville had seized the momentum. I believe Tank and Tweet called in the tradition factor as possibly making a difference. I want to give lots of kudos to the QB, he is one shifty cat and to Coach Nail, what a game plan. Good Luck to you guys the rest of the way.
  2. The same you watched. I merely pointed out that there were some things that needed to be improved upon. I never said that they did a poor job. I also stated that if they they make some of those same types of plays against a more talented team it may bite them. Sometimes the best team doesn't always win; sometimes its the team that executes its game the best.
  3. I'm going with C'ville but have concerns. If it is close, which I am suspecting it will be, C'ville better get their PAT/FG unit on the field much quicker without having to take a delay of game or burning a TO which may be needed at a more crucial time. ( I know Edwards is the place kicker as well and has to put his shoe on.) Even though I do believe Moores' injury was not serious he will need to be playing to give Mart something to think about as a receiving threat or else they may try to stack the box to stop Edwards or Rosser. I don't know if he was injured prior to the game but when Rosser did throw a pass his way on one occassion he did not seem to be running the route with speed and precision he would need to against a better team like Mart. Defensively, I believe if Mart runs any type of misdirection C'ville may have problems stopping them . Even with the lack of athletes, VMs did have some success running trap plays with their wings between the tackles and with the QB keeping it around the edge because the DEs were crashing hard on most plays and losing outside contain. Good Luck to both teams and hoping for an injury free game for all the participants.
  4. He announced last night that he would be leaving UT. Best of luck to the young man where ever he goes
  5. No injuries in this game for either team.
  6. Sorry about not providing details last night. Really, there wasn't much to talk about. IMO. Clarksville played very uninspired football because their opponent was not good in any form or fashion. Most of the scores were on long runs by Edwards and Rosser. Rosser did complete a TD pass to Moore and had another called back due to offensive pass interference. I believe Celeste had two first downs all night, one on a roughing the kicker call and the other by run.( BTW, the first down by run was given to Celeste after the ref looked at the marker to see where to spot the ball.) That was the shortest HS football game I've ever attended. Started at 7:30 over at 9: 20. Oh well, on to bigger and better games.
  7. How so? Every college recruits extra at all positions for several reasons. Some don't pan out (GG), some transfer due to not meeting the coaches expectations and not getting the playing time they desire ( attrition), grades may get a few, the off field situations that could get one in trouble, and of course, injuries. You never can tell what is going to happen when they get to college. Isn't it the job of the coaches to go after the best kids that they think will help the program and then the responsibility of the athlete to prove themselves worthy of playing time? I may be missing your point, but please enlighten me as to why you believe UT "over-recruits". ( No sarcasm or trying to be a wise guy) On a side note, according to another web site I peruse Traylon was listed as another player who may be leaving UT. Pure speculation and hearsay but worth taking note of.
  8. I'm glad to see UT get this young man, as I think he will be a great addition to Harsins' offensive scheme. However, here's my question. Do you think he will the opportunity to play QB, or do you think he will be used at some other position? I ask this because Connor Brewer is on his way to UT,and the continued development of Ash. ( I have a feeling Case McCoy will be transfering due to the fact his father may be becoming a hinderance to the coaching staff) In any case, I wish the young man well and HOOK'EM !
  9. Being from Clarksville, I'm gonna go with any school in Lamar county. Honestly, I think Prairiland gets that honor with North Lamar coming in a very close second.
  10. Ok, thanks for clarifying that for me. The Gladewater game I'm thinking about was at Homer Johnson stadium in Garland and yes, Stony Clark ( sp?) broke through the line and body slammed the QB. Prior to that play Cville was winning, not that it would have effected the final outcome if he had finished the game. Anyways, maybe I will see you on Friday.
  11. Are you positive Cville hasn't had a 10 win season before? I thought they had a 9-1 reagular season record in late 80's, early 90's, won bi district against Mt. Vernon, then got crushed by Gladewater in the next round.
  12. Congrats, Pewitt, You did what you had to do to win the game AND hopefully this loss will temper some of the Tiger fans who have that need to talk a little too much. Your order is up and ready. Bon Appetite!
  13. Tappy, if you had any doubts as to what kind of season GHS is going to have, I believe it is now suffice to say, that you should have a definitive answer now.
