  1. The number one job related injury at the UIL are back issues from slapping each other on the back and telling themselves what a great job they are doing for the kids.
  2. Spot on and thank you for your service I have also spoken out with the schools and UIL. Sadly it is much easier to do nothing. They WOULD do something but it would interfere with them patting each other on the back and complimenting each other for "being there for the kids"
  3. No. it is much easier to sit in the stands and be an expert.
  4. I can solve this problem in a heartbeat. Coaches quit bing a jerk to officials ESPECIALLY in sub varsity games you are lucky to have officials. School Administrators start kicking jerk parents and fans out of games. Second time they offend ban them from schools. That silliness will stop overnight. UIL bump Minimum pay for sub vqarsity games to $100 / game. PLUS mileage. Bump MINIMUM pay for Varsity games to $200 PLUS mileage. And do NOT for one second tell me schools cannot afford this. I was a coach and teacher for thirty years. Every school I ever worked at threw away more money in a week than officials cost. Schools if you want to ensure your kids have officials make Officials WANT to come to your school by paying them in cash THAT night. If your Admin says "we can't do that" (and they can btw its just a little extra work for them god forbid people in Admin have to do that) get booster club to pay them that night. AND Feed them......WELL not a Concession Stand Hotdog either! If your Admin is too inept to pay them in cash AD;s do what it takes to make sure these guys are not waiting for their check for two and three months. And yes this is standard operating procedure for most schools. I've even seen AD'S put officials checks in their desks for weeks to "pay back" officials that they feel did not do a good job. Trust me, officials talk to each other about schools that do a good job of taking care of them and which schools make it REALLY hard to go there. Guess which schools usually have officials and which do not. When you have a shortage of workers it is because of two things. Pay is not high enough and / or the work conditions stink. Eco 101. It is amazing that schools just throw up their hands at the drop of the hat and say "there is nothing we can do" that is BS. Example: 6 Man schools have the hardest time getting officials. Many are having to play sub varsity and Varsity on the same night to address this. I know a place that has Officials FIGHTING to go call games there. Strawn, Texas. They pay in cash AND the HC feeds the Officials no matter what the sport after the games. At Mary's. He has an open tab there for officials. Take a hint. Schools and the UIL better pull their head out of their fourth point of contact. If the current trend holds you will be having coaches call sub varsity games. And your Varsity Schedules will be getting rearragned around when the officials can show up. To sum up show these folks some respect.
  5. Yeah the community is dying and turning into Marlin
  6. Wait. Peaster now has an AD that does not coach? If so what a waste of taxpayer $$$$. I guess before long 1A schools will need to do the same.
  7. If true from San Angelo to Morris County is about as big a culture move as you can make in Texas. LOL
  8. Crockett has turned into a dumpster fire. The school and the community. It is going to be another Marlin. Vast majority of those living there cannot afford to move anywhere else or old folks. I have several friends that are from there and when they go home to visit family it disgusts them how far that town has fallen.
  9. Does he have a way of running The Bone for a six man program?
  10. I used to be a Wing T guy. I would have liked to have seen that.
  11. I would run so hard and fast in the opposite direction from this job.......... Hubbard will be six msn before long.
  12. Brother I am so glad that I am retired.
  13. If you were an AD would you want the girls parents picking your girls coordinator?
  14. I just heard back from a couple of sources. That is exactly what it was. The girl athlete parents told the Sup who they wanted and the Sup told the former HC his pick was not going to get hired.
  15. You do me a favor and go down the list of the very best 3A programs in the state of Texas who are successful in everything and let me know how many go that route. At the same time I will make a list of all the loser programs that insist on a Girls "Coordintator" who win in little if anything. For every school you find I can find twenty. And there are VERY few AD's that will have their choice of coaching hires rejected who will not resign immediately. FOR ANY AD to stick around when the Sup / Board have zero clue about chain of command is really completely unfathomable to anyone in the profession. Also in most cases in a 3A school only one person coaches one sport. That is the AD. IF you add a girls cood. then that person will also coch one sport. because they are now an Administrator, 3A schools need another Admin like they need a hole in their head. Not to even mention you now have to come up with anpther coach which usually means a coach has to pick up a FOURTH sport,
  16. I worked for numerous former Coaches who became Administrators. With only one one or two exceptions when you checked out their coaching record they could not cut it as a coach that is why they went into Admin. They were lousy Admin too.
  17. Sounds like something a totally gutless eunuch and neutered Superintendent would say. Texas HS's hire many HFC's every year. I wonder how many of the schools that hired new HC's did something like that on "advice of an attorney"? I know how many do not. That would be ALL of the schools that value the role that athletics serves the kids and have winning programs.
  18. While true it is not like that one transfer pulled Decatur out of being everyones Homecoming Date. If you look you will see that Decatur has gone at least three rounds deep and further, five of the last six years, And the only reason they missed out on that one season where they did not was because batcrap crazy volleyball parents who thought their darling children should not be disciplined after getting drunk at the State Volleyball Tournament ran for school board with the express purpose of firing the AD. Then after they successfully got the HC run off (in june no less) they had to go with an interim who while is a good guy, he was not ready for that position. While they might not have made it five rounds without the Palmer kid they dang sure would have made it three and maybe four. The James kid was the real deal too plus they had another kid that could have given them a TB better than 75% of 4A programs they could have moved over from defense. Not to even mention there were two sophomores on this years JV that would start for most programs. Decatur has been kicking butt and taking names in practically every sport for almost two decades now,
  19. The world will not be the same with no Old High. I hate change.
  20. If there had been a runner on third I would give her the benefit of the doubt. There was not. That purely and completely intentional. Should have been booted from the game.
  21. The Sup is not a PP guy. he was HS Principal for several years and got the big key ring three years ago. Total yes man for the board. He barely survived the Surgery to become an Administrator where they remove half your brain, both your balls, and your entire spine.
  22. I know a guy that interviewed there a year ago. he got told by Admin that "PP is no longer a football school". He couldn't get out of there fast enough.
