  1. Maud, because Blessed Daily works there. :sorcerer:
  2. You are right, I DON'T think whatever the heck that is that you wrote is the case. That's why I DID NOT write it. Good thing too, because I certainly don't want to be stupid. Good thing that I am not. I will not argue that at times I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but before you start making comments on the intelligence of others you might want to make sure that you too are not a kitchen implement stacked next to the forks and knives vis a vis reading comprehension. If you will slowly read my post again you will hopefully understand that what I said was the OTHER three teams in the district are that weak. And if you take the TEN (not eleven) best FROM the other THREE teams you would so on and so forth. My post had NOTHING to do with Paris, NL, or VA . You may apologize now, but if stilll lost, try finding someone on the nearest street corner with a "will work for food" sign and get them to explain it to you that I was commenting on the weakness of Commerce, Bonham, and Anna. I will make you a deal, before I call you stupid I will send you a private message and ask you to clarify something before I break out making personal attacks. Since I am doing that for you, I will give you the opportunity to do it for me. I am a heck of a guy that way.
  3. As a coach I realize that if we don't win I will be fired. But when I meet my maker and we are reviewing my permanent resume I hope the thing that stands out is the number of kids I represented a moral and ethical role model too, the Christian example I set, the number of kids I motivated to become solid citizens, good husbands and fathers for their families. At the end of the day these are SCHOOL football teams, the reason we are here is to get an education NOT to have a football program. I know not about other schools but some of the people I hear in our stands have no clue about anything, ESPECIALLY football. To make winning a HS football game part of your identity as a human being is ridiculous.
  4. I saw Mack Brown speak this summer and he says that HE gets parents complaining about playing time. His solution is to invite them into his office and watch practice film of their darling baby. He also said that he has never had one bug him again after watching their kid stink it up on film.
  5. Hang in there, going through the bad times is what makes you appreciate the good. Look at the thread on Longview, you got a whole bunch of people there unhappy and they just went to the title game nine months ago. I have a special place in my heart for that area, I grew up fishing on the Trinity River PRE lake livingston (is Bells Camp still there?), saw Willie Nelson play in Trinity back in the 70's and my parents have a weekend place now between Crockett and Groveton. Played mucho golf at Westwood Shores. Is that meat market still open in Riverside? Best sausge in Texas. And regarding the Sup. from what I have been told he ain't the only snake in the Admin. Bldg. His assistant is a cobra too.
  6. Easy DevelopQB. PG may beat North Lamar, but I have never seen a North Lamar team play that didn't give a good effort. They may not be loaded with talent this year, but they will play hard. They may still have a shot at the third playoff spot by the time district rolls around. I would be suprised if they did NOT win the third playoff spot. Paris probably wins it, VA comes in second, then all you have to do is beat Bonham, Commerce, and Anna. I don't think you could take the ten best players off of all three of those teams and make the playoff on the vast majority of 2A districts in the state.
  7. All I know is what one of the former HC's and one former assistant told me that the coaching staff receives "0" support from Administration. No matter what the problem or situation the Coaching staff is not backed up. To me the proof is in the pudding. You go through that man coaches in that few years something is WAY wrong. Even if "bad" coaches are being hired who keeps hiring them? And if good coaches are leaving....then why are they leaving? I am on record on this site as saying Trinity would be a MARVELOUS place to live and coach. Great facilities (weight room is a little small but no place is perfect };o) ), AWESOME town (Great hunting and fishing, great golf, awesome lake and river to live on). Close enough to a decent sized town, Huntsville, and close enough to a big city, Houston. Not to mention getting to live in East Texas with the best folks on the planet. The location alone would seem to pull in worthy candidates. But just what is the problem there? From personal experience I know there are decent athletes, and good kids and THE KIDS deserve better.
  8. The only thing wrong with Trinity is an Administration that has such a turnover in coaching staffs. How many HC's in the last five years four...five? Until you get some continuity and stability success will be difficult.
  9. For someone who does not want to "wax philosphical" you are pretty dang profound. Good luck to your team.
  10. What a great game!!! I have never seen a team improve as much as Malakoff has in one year. This is in no way a slap at the former coaches at Malakoff a couple of whom have been friends of mine for years. Driskell and staff get my vote for staff of the year right now! Congratulations to Malakoff and good luck the rest of the way.
  11. People that complain about that coaching staff don't deserve to ever enjoy the benefits of what that staff is giving them. For the life of me I cannot understand people, I have been to Ennis games and heard BUNCHES of people complain about Sam Harrell, I was at the Liberty Hill vs. Celina playoff game last year and you would not believe the comments from people about the coach that was coming off of two state titles in a row and were five rounds deep in the playoffs that year, with how many dozens of games in a row won? And just about always these people make complaints that are invalid, incorrect, misguided, unknowledgeable about the game of football, etc........ Why is it that people who know so LITTLE about the game think they know so MUCH?
  12. The question is did their PAPF's get signed off on by their former school? If the former schools AD's had checked the box that indicated they were moving for athletic purposes then let the debate begin. Otherwise there is not an issue here.
  13. I think Nolan Ryan is an acknowledged expert on what it takes to be a succesful pitcher at the major league level. His INSEASON DAY of PITCHING lift was an incredible amount of reps. I don't have the exact details but it was a serious lift session WITH running. I am sure that there are baseball experts out there that would tell you weights are bad. I can come up with hundreds of kinesiology experts / sports medicine experts / etc... that says it is GOOD to lift weights year around. What you do is vary the amount and number of reps, in season high reps low weights. Anyone that thinks that you go to college to play baseball and escape weight lifting is seriously misguided. College baseball players do mucho lifting. I have it on first hand authority that the University of Texas baseball team lifts more even during the season than most Texas HS football programs do. And I think I am safe in saying that Augie knows a little something about development of baseball players. Whatever path a baseball player may choose eventually they are going to be at a level where "not lifting because you don't like the lifting program" gives you an option that entails taking your stuff somewhere else. I am not casting aspersions on any person or any athletic program. But at the end of the day what the coaches have to take into account is what is best for the overall program NOT the future potential major league prospects of one kid. I genuinely hope that things work out the best for this young man.
  14. Gonna be tough for all the spread teams that like to chunk it around.
  15. Open week = bad Open week + game cancelled because of lightning the next (or prior) week = Tenth level of hades
  16. Well played sir! Go get 'em this week. And it's never too wet to throw the ball, you need to trust an old time hard core spread guy on that one. Do you know any? P.S. I called thirty pass plays during the JV game the other day. Who would have ever thunk it?
  17. I saw the Bosqueville - Mart game on film a couple of years ago where Mart scored around 80 and everyone was ripping on Mart for running the score up. Mart did no such thing. The game was at Bosqueville and they did not run the clock during the second half and Mart ran back something like 3-4 intercepted passes for td's. Even the Bosqueville Coach I talked too later said he did not think Mart tried to run it up. Yet people all over Texas who only saw the score ripped Mart for "running it up". And then there are schools like Te____ who a few years ago was winning an 8th grade game by thirty with less than twenty seconds on the clock against a team that only had twelve players and they call timeout down on the other teams goalline so they can get one more score. That is total bullcrap. Sometimes all you can do is tell the officials to call holding anytime one of your runners breaks into the clear. Sometimes you can run dive and score every play because the other team is so bad. I have also seen teams kick onside when they are up by fifty and then justify it by saying "they had to work on it for the playoffs". I alwys want to ask them why they don't "work on it" before the game is out of hand if it is that important to them. The score is not always an indicator of "running up". Someone can be an A #1 jerk and win by only thirty. People who "run it up" are disgusting. They are all "our kids" and no kid is deserving of having that done to them.
  18. I can't understand why the moderators don't nip this type of behavior by one person in the bud instead of letting it go on forever.
  19. I interviewed for a job in MV two years ago but was unable to take it for family reasons. HC is one of the classier guys I have ever met in this business. The OC is a jerk but you have one of those on every staff! };o) Good luck to MV, love it when a program that has been down a bit turns it around and starts winning some games.
  20. With all the school related events and the travelling that goes with them it is a miracle that this sort of thing does not happen more often. The roads between Elkhart and Buffalo are very dangerous 79 and ???? can't remember the other one. God bless all affected by this tragedy.
  21. Other than the QB Elkhart does not have any speed. Grapeland by three td's.
  22. Is the new and improved version of Malakoff going to be able to whip Italy this week?
  23. What was Cayuga doing on Dawson defensively that was giving them such fits? Is Cayuga an odd or even front defense? Anyone know what their alignment was against Dawson?
  24. Who says you can't find common sense on bulletin boards?
