  1. LOL! Not based on what I saw Friday night. Overall I think we will be better than 2015. Defensively we should be much better that 2014 (even though a state champ, it was our 6th worse defense at giving up points per game since 1967). We had a very strong defense in 2013 - this year's version may approach them. Offensively we are NOT set at QB. We completed two passes against SOC, none by the QB. In 2014, our QB was a weapon on the ground as well as throwing. We have nothing close to that, at least not on Friday. If that doesn't change, we definitely wont be as good as 2014. I'm guessing JT is reloaded and will let us know how good we really are at this point.
  2. Don't know about that...haven't been on this board in awhile. LOL
  3. We have to throw the ball better than last night for us to have any change to beat JT. Based on what I saw last night, I think we'll have a stronger team last year...
  4. Denton Guyer 22, Ennis 19 A very winnable game, but sloppy play got in the way. Oh well!!! BEAT WAXAHACHIE
  5. I heard our two frosh squads and JV all beat Guyer tonight!!! GO LIONS!!!!
  6. Didn't say I lacked confidence...just pointing out where areas where we need to improve. Like most fans in Ennis on Friday, despite being down 21 in the first, I knew we would find a way to win. If you want to stay home, be my guest - I'll be in Denton!!!
  7. Only thing I know about Guyer is their QB - a play maker and very elusive!!! I think he will be even better than the two we've seen thus far. I hope we can at least stay on the field with them like last year.
  8. I'm rooting for any scenario that sends Ennis back to the metroplex!!!
  9. Looking forward to the scrimmage...even taking the day off from work!!! Based on what I'm hearing lately from those who have been watching the team since spring football, this will NOT be a big down year for Ennis as some around here were thinking earlier. The Longview scrimmage and opening games against Mansfield Timberview and Denton Guyer should tell us pretty quick about where we are. I didn't see last year's scrimmage. I think the Lobo's were missing key players due to injuries. Notwithstanding Ennis' dominating performance that day, I do remember someone from Longview on this board accurately predicted we would have a hard time stopping the run. Several times last year I was reminded of that prediction by our play on the field, especially against Sulphur Springs. So I'll be especially interested to what you guys have to say about us after this scrimmage!!! LOL
  10. LOL! I'm sure 16-5A will again be one the toughest districts in the state!
  11. Little surprise we're ranked ahead of John Tyler in this poll. Last year there was a thin line between finishing 1st and finishing 3rd in 16-5A, and we knew we had a pretty good team going in. Not so sure how good we are at this point. Looking forward to the Longview scrimmage.
  12. So am I! I think it will still be a wide open race for three playoff spots. Unlike last year, when I could not pick a district favorite at this point, I'm picking John Tyler as my preseason favorite.
  13. Don't know what to expect from my Lions this year...really looking forward to Longview scrimmage to get an idea how good we can be in 16-5A. When we got knocked out by Whitehouse in the first round in 2012, a former player who is very knowledgeable about the talent coming up Ennis accurately predicted we would title contenders in 2013 and 2014. He is telling me now we are two years away from making another run like the past 2 years. So I'm going way, way out there on a limb and say we WON'T repeat this year!!! :D
  14. I imagine Forney and North Forney would get picked off to go east before the Mesquite schools...
