  1. I would say spring ball would be a good thing like most have said if: New Coach - needing to evaluate what he has to work with. Sometimes you have an Idea of what offense you want to run but may need to scrap it if you don't have the players. Young team with no experience - again to evaluate early. But with all of that said, In W'house case, they pretty much have an idea what they have to work with so the extra week during the summer would benefit them more. At least get them a little more prepared for those early preseason/scrimmages. You could always tell that Carthage had a week up on them during the scrimmage. They are always good games but the speed isn't where it needed to be. Can't wait to see if what I think Is even remotely correct. -out
  2. The only school that could possibly match JT's speed is Marshall. That means the other schools will just have to step up their game even more. Spread the field out and out coach these two teams. These two teams are tradition rich and have pretty good staff's. However, I believe that their will be some very close games come District Play. Can't wait to see how it turns out. -out
  3. I was wondering if anyone would notice the Elephant on the throne. Figured, I should put my bro's Ex-wife back as my avatar. It gets me fired up for Football just to look at it. I haven't posted in awhile. So I guess it's best I leave her on there for now. Will change soon though. All comments bout the ex - are welcome.... -out
  4. Wait till you guys see the Shelton kid from Whitehouse. He has worked harder then Trey or Quincey this offseason. Knee injury from the Distract Track meet last year hurt his season last year. But the kid is easily top 3 athlete at any school in the district (maybe even JT). If he stays healthy, most r gonna wonder where this kid came from. He is the best tackler on the team. Anybody who watches W'house football knows he can lay the wood. He is a Corner that easily Benches 3 + and probably squats 4 +. Don't know for sure but this is just what I've been told. I have however, seen him working out. I think he was #2 last year. Anybody know what Im talking about with this kid. -out
  5. Wow look at the difference in numbers from JT and the others. Didn't realize there numbers were gonna be like that. Sure would be great to take down the new Giant of 4A. Anything can happen. Hallsville 1240 Jacksonville 1128 Kilgore 994 Longview Pine Tree 1343 Marshall 1583 Nacogdoches 1690 Tyler 2046.5 Whitehouse 1323
  6. Wow, Lindale played solid. Executed very well on both sides. You can tell the Cats have some fight in them. Trey added a whole different element to the game. But I liked what I saw from the younger Aldridge (soph). There wasn't much stopping him last night. Good Job Eagles you finally got the Cats. Now we need to hold down the 3rd spot. May help us down the road. -out
  7. I heard Whitehouse may go to the wishbone this year since Air Reno is gone. J/K. Should be fun to see if much changes. I'm sure they will throw alot, I expect the style and combinations to change some but the key will be to put a defense together with some depth, to utilize players who need to be on offense too! -out
  8. Metoyer kid may not be the best you will see.(most would argue that) But he will make you work for it. He faired pretty well against L'view last year. They didn't think he would score. He just gets the job done. He is a good player. You have to respect him. Oklahoma does! Then again, I can't stand the sooners. out
  9. Got a good quarterback who can throw the ball. Just don't know of any back up yet. I know they had a pup in the L'view game that played. Anything else developing in the House? Who they got lined up non-dist. wise. Heard, Chill, Corsicana, SS. out
  10. Winning District championships are great! District is definately not as competitive with Whitehouse down this year. Everyone knew it was probably going to be J'ville and then Lindale or Whitehouse(even though their down). J'ville has an athletic team with lots of experience and should do well in competing in the playoffs. It's hard for the w'house boys because their not use to experiencing this type of situation in basketball. The key is for the Cats to play hard and get after it with what they got. I expect them to come out hustling. Hope they have extra security at the game. We know how crazy it gets at da ville. I'm debating on going. I won't be going with any kids around thats for sure. Last year there was some j'ville woman going crazy....her boy was holding her back r something. I don't remember how it all went down. I at least got to laugh a little bit. Hope she'll be there. It was like a saturday night live skit crossed with Springer. Good stuff....im going now! Good luck both teams.
  11. I would love to be a backup and make some good money. Don't have to worry about getting a life changing injury early in my career. Look at Steve Young. He was under Montana forever and he worked hard and studied to the point when he became the starter during a Montana injury he tore it up and proved he could play. Dude, let me hold the extra points and fieldgoals. -out
  12. What are you a Tech fan? Gilbert was only the #1 QB recruit last year in the nation. Who probably doesn't have the playbook knowledge, Alabama defensive reads etc. He played his but off. Was it ugly at times. Yes, but put any freshman in a game with a top defensive team as Alabama and last night is what you get. He has a better arm the McCoy and will develope into the leader of the team. Play before the half hurt the team and that's the bottom line. WR's aren't use to the ball he throws. It has alot more on it, so I won't blame Gilbert for the way things turned out. Did the staff prepare for what ended up happening. Who knows. Gilbert will be good. He's got some speed, a cannon and he is a proven winner. At one point last night he almost became the Texas Miracle. Stats don't tell everything. He could have just quit. Now he will just come out and prove people like you wrong. You will see. -out
  13. Palestine, Corsicana, Sulphur, and Chapel Hill I believe is what will be on schedule next year. District will be the most important part of the schedule. Definately a little better chance in nondistrict for some success. Before, the rumor was a loaded cat team that should compete with the non district opponents. After last season melt down in non district it will be good to compete with some new faces. It's always an exciting time when they realign and schedules are being made. I suspect these cats will have alot to prove. They've got a lot returning with a great leader in Hunter who is definately coachable quarterback. They will be alright. out
  14. If there were panther's around here, someone would have shot one by now. I hate to be negative. I hope there are some cause that would make it more intense to be in the woods. I sure would like to have one of these experiences to share but I've hunted around here for a long time now. Especially in the bottoms of the Sabine. Seen some tracks but, could have been a bobcat. Who know! Go down South and you can shoot one of them tan kitties if your lucky. -out
  15. Oooooh! busted. Nice one Alvie! I know i am guilty sometimes. I need to go apologize now! -out
  16. Sorry bud! Lufkin is very good. Whitehouse played the way Tomlin teaches last night and got after it. They weren't very selfish and moved the ball around well. Lufkin underestimated the Cats. You could see there faces. When you have the size and athletic ability that they had last night....your good. Tomlin looked to have a great game plan to use their size against them. The 6'7 kid from Lufkin is a beast. But wasn't very effective last night. Way to hustle Cats. If you would just do what your asked to do on the court you can win some ball games. I'll agree we are down...but not out. We can get some W's if we will be coachable. Hopefully the Aldridge kid will be back. -out
  17. WoW, Gutsy move i would say. Don't know anything about this school. Hope it works out for him and everyone at Whitehouse. When will Whitehouse open the spot up. Whoever gets the O.C. will have some tools to work with. I just hope it meshes well. Does anyone know if Reno will be taking any coaches. This could change a few things at the House and there upcoming Season. Good Luck to Reno and his family.
  18. Glad to see them having some success. Although it's a different level of athletics I do hope they win it all in both sports. I hope the Clardy's will have some success this year. They will probably stand out a little more at this level. They are tall! So that will have an impact. Good luck to the Guard. -out
  19. Let's not talk about scheduling MavSlav. No excuses here! Just think it's a bit far fetched to say that numbers don't matter at all. I'm tired of it too. (I was really looking at it to were Lufkin and JT dropped down. I don't care how big you are, you can still get your but kicked any friday night. Mavslav, for your info. Naaman, Corsicana, Red Oak, SS, Celina (not to bad huh). Our schedule should accomplish everything to get us ready for District. (Playing up, physical, Spread, Power, tradition). All those teams get you ready for our District. Longview walked through your district! I will hand it to you. Your guys played them somewhat close. Which is good for us. You guys throw quite a bit so thanks we know they can be scored on. I just hope our Boys don't turn it down. I don't think they will. They've gone threw alot worse this season. They have a chance! I hope they win. If not, Good luck once again to all of East Texas. -out
  20. You aren't very savvy with your Football are you. Metoyer would play and b a number 1 or 2 for any team in East Texas maybe across the state. He puts up 1000 plus yards under double and triple teamed situations in every season. That is why we can brag on him. Of course, we don't have the numbers to play consistent football in Pre-season with those 5A programs. But we do play good football teams. Naaman, Corsicana, SS, Red Oak, Celina. Not every town can do what you do. You have similar numbers with everyone of these teams with exception of Allen. So don't act like you guys play up. Just be glad you are in such an easy situation as of right now. YOU won't always b there. 8/28/09TBAvs.Allen (Allen, TX) </SPAN>28-25 (W) 9/05/09TBA@Lee (Tyler, TX) </SPAN>31-7 (W) 9/11/09TBAvs.Natchitoches Central (Natchitoches, LA) </SPAN>54-14 (W) 9/18/09TBA@Lufkin (Lufkin, TX) </SPAN>14-28 (L) Now about those few Whitehouse folks that have ran their mouths I can't speak for them. It's gonna be a long road for Whitehouse, J'ville and any other teams stuck in the Big Division. But playing these big teams year in, year out will help us get to wear we need to be. I have know doubt that these boys can compete in Div II. If the UIL keeps East Texas in 4A that is fine! They need to break it down to wear there can b some competitive football though. Or else their will be some good programs that could make it far in one division and not in another. Good luck to all teams Friday night! The winners need to represent East Texas and win it all. -out
  21. Man I hate that. It almost makes you not want to go knowing that the hunt for that one is over. Good thing is at 51/2 years old there is probably one of his little ones running around. So go, arise, kill, and eat! Remember, its all about the anticipation of what you might see and just being out there. Have some luck! -out
