  1. Softball is horrible with the amount of talent we lose from little league to 8th grade. Woden, Garrison, martinsville and central heights start recruiting at the little league level. The league is set up to favor the small towns in the area. The board of NYSA is filled with people from the small schools in the area. They are allowed to put their teams together in TBall and keep them together through 8th grade. Kids that live in Nac change teams every two years and anyone that shows skill gets the full court press to join the teams from small schools. I have seen it happen to kids I coached when my daughters were in the league. no one from the actual ISDs are involved with the recruitment.
  2. Yeah, Nac is just now starting to recover from having 8 girls leave the district between their 7th grade and freshman year. and go to Central Heights. We played them last year and the entire Central Heights roster lived in the neighborhoods behind Nac HS. This moves decimated the Junior and Senior Class this year, It was a huge loss for the program. Stephanie Bradford is building the program from scratch and has a lot of freshmen/8th and 7th grade talent if we can keep them in Nac. Moving to 1 middle school program will also help the girls play under the same coaches coming up. LP was fun to watch the few times I watched them play this year.
  3. Not a lot of weaknesses on this Lufkin team!! Looking for a long playoff run for them! This group has been stout since they started playing together in the 7th grade. Good Luck Pack
  4. Mathematically I believe everyone is still technically alive for the playoffs, but Nacs chances are on life support. To be honest not sure I would want Nac to get in at this point just to get slaughtered by Lovejoy. I would much rather we move on to basketball.
  5. Lufkin completed the sweep of district 16-5a last night, they only lost 1 set in district play. beat Nac 3-0 Huntsville defeated Porter 3-2 Kingwood Park defeated Dayton 3-0 Huntsville and Kingwood Park split their 2 district meetings. Huntsville won the coin flip for 2nd. Porter and Dayton Split their 2 district meetings 1.Lufkin (37-13)( 10-0)-District Champs 2.Huntsville (26-19(6-4) 3.Kingwood Park(16-27)(6-4) 4.Porter(12-24)(4-6) 5.Dayton(16-26)(4-6) 6.Nac (5-22)(0-10)-Eliminated
  6. I personally think that Texas High as the #1 seed is the only one that will win a matchup with district 7-5A. Lovejoy, Melissa and Crandall all are very good football teams. Terrell, Denison and Poteet all have given up a lot of points and/or been blown out by the top 3 in that district. Crandall has given up 273 points but 165 of that was in 3 games vs 5-D1 Forney, Melissa and Lovejoy. I said in a previous post this may be Crandall's best team ever and they are going to finish 3rd in that district. This team has some leftover pieces from a 2019-2020 run where they went 3 rounds deep before losing to eventual state champions Carthage.
  7. Bad part is you don't know which Dragon team will show up the one that upset Whitehouse and took Texas High to the brink or the one that got blown out by PT and MP. Dare I say Nac is turning things around at home. Nacs 3 best games have been played at home this year all of their blowouts have been on the road. Too bad this one is on the road.
  8. There a few scenarios still alive with 5 teams within 2 games of each other with 2 left to play.
  9. Oh what could have been!!! We saw the best of the Dragons against WH,TH and the first half against Hallsville. The fact that we didn't play that way against everyone this season is maddening as a fan. You are what your record says you are, but this team should be much better than 1-8 on the season!! Nac is losing a lot of Seniors, has 19 Juniors and had some freshman play Varsity last night. Kills me to think we took to the end of the season to play our best QB the whole game!! he plays Safety and on Special teams so he had to rotate due to the amount of plays he had. Our QB/SS #5 had a phenomenal game last night on both sides of the ball.
  10. I was also not predicting anything there is still so much that can happen with all these teams within 2 games of each other and 2 games left in district play. The only thing I am sure of is Nac is not making the playoffs!! Everyone else is still alive at least for this week. Loser of MP/PT will be eliminated and depending on what Marshall they both maybe anyway.
  11. I think the only way Marshall doesn't make it is a crazy scenario where they lose out and end in a tie with Nac/PT/MP. I think in this scenario it would take Nac winning by like 40 for them to be in trouble since Marshall has large points over PT and MP and they both have large points over Nac. PT/MP play each other this week PT has MP and TH left MP has PT and Hallsville left Marshall is +29 over both MP and PT MP is +32 over Nac and -29 to Marshall PT is +35 over Nac and - 29 to Marshall So Nac would have to win by like 36 over Marshall to go, winning by 30-35 would send either PT/MP depending on who wins this week and assuming they both lose the last week and Marshall loses to WH. I would say the top 4 is pretty much set just a matter of seeding. I don't see any of the stuff I just typed happening.
  12. Yes Nac played 2 teams with stripes on Friday night!!
  13. Great 1st half by Nac. Dragons are hanging in there.
  14. Don't know anything about that, we have visiting media rooms in the press box.
  15. Hard to find officiating with the amount of abuse they take and the way parents act if they miss a call. the ref is cheating against our team stuff is infuriating, refs have very little stake in 99.9% of these games. Most are doing it for the love of the game, lord knows it isn't the money.
  16. Nac streams their home games on you tube, search Nac football. There will be no commentary, scoreboard or clock just straight game footage. you will only know the score, qtr. and down from the PA announcer that you can hear on the broadcast.
  17. I also think in high school you have to have talent on offense to score points, no matter how good your defense is you will hit that offense that is going to score on you. Without an offense your defense gets worn down. Offense wins games in high school and without one you wont have the chance to get to the defense wins championships part.
  18. I agree with you, the games we have been able to run the ball we have been competitive. When we have to start throwing every down is when the game has gotten away from us. The game against Whitehouse we were 70% run until our starting running back was lost for the year with a torn MCL. Up until that game we were 60% pass from the spread formation.
  19. When talent doesn't work, work beats talent.
  20. Yes on youtube no commentary or scoreboard just the video of the game
  21. 16-5A Volleyball Lufkin (35-13) (8-0)-Won the District title and has not lost a set in district, has Kingwood Park and Nac. left to finish the season. Very Senior Heavy-Currently ranked #3 in the state. Kingwood Park (14-26) (5-3)-Currently the 2 seed with Lufkin and Dayton left to finish the season. Has H2H over Dayton, Split with Huntsville but has the tiebreaker, but Lost to Porter Huntsville (24-18) (5-3)-Currently 3 seed with H2h over Porter and Dayton has Dayton and Porter left-2 wins and and KWP loss and Huntsville is the 2 seed. Porter (11-22) (3-5)-Currently tied with Dayton for 4th-Has Nac and Huntsville left-inside track for the 4th seed with what's left on the schedule. Dayton (15-25) (3-5)-Currently tied for 4th but has KWP and Huntsville left Nac (6-18) (0-8)-Eliminated from playoffs-Tough Volleyball district but Nac is much improved over the last 3-4 years.
  22. No reason to put a poll up we all know what is going to happen on Friday Night. What looked like a promising season for the Dragons fell apart very fast with lots of turnovers and injuries taking away what little depth we have. Nac has lost 6 starters for the year 4 on defense. JV team was down to 16 players last week due to call ups to fill the varsity holes and grades. We will see if Nac moves players around and plays some of the younger players on varsity for the rest of the year for experience. Nac. is 11-25 lifetime against Texas High, the last 2 meetings have been close until halftime, last year seeing TH pull away in the 3rd Qtr. Friday is Senior Night in Nac as it is our last home game before we finish this dreadful season on the road in Marshall. We have our bye week the last week of the season and we have started airing up the basketballs!!
