  1. Big Sandy is needing a second scrimmage, we have 45 kids and 20 of them are JV aged kids. Will travel. Contact Larry Minter 903-569-4499
  2. I asked Kerry Strong for permission before I called it... he didn't care either way. Too busy chewing out radio broadcasters...
  3. Who's whining? Believe me, my post was for pure entertainment purposes!!! I have spit more sweet tea outta my mouth, sittin in my recliner reading pure ignorance on smoaky over the last 10 years..... just couldn't resist when WINONA gets on here, talking about intelligence....lol
  4. This is Larry Minter, so how in the $&@? Do you not kick the field goal??? What hash did we work from in pregame?? (The right one). What was his pregame range??? 38 yards-- consistently! When we were beating Cross Roads eyes shut- what did we work on ??? Field goals? How far was the field goal??? 27 yards. How far is a PAT?? 20 yards. How many has he made???? 65!!! How good is our kicker??? 2 time 1st team all district, 2017 kicker of the year. Who was the kicker that had just executed the best onside kick of his career???? He was. No for the hard part- according to your great wisdom. How many 1st downs did we have in the 3rd quarter???? 0. How many no gain or negative plays did we have in the second half? 7. So. If you have a senior deep snapper being looked at by colleges, your holder is your QB that has been great all year, and the kicker mentioned above????? It's a no brained... First PAT missed was a formation misalignment, the second was a bobbled snap catch- neither was kicker error. Sssoooo if I fixed the formation call, the QB was receiving a snap either way and the snapper is one of the best around--- 9 out a 10 times. 37-35 we live to play another day....... congrats to Centerville, great team, tough week, good luck- go win it all!! As far as my intelligence goes, made a 28 on the ACT, got a college degree from SFA, learned football from Dick Sheffield, Bum Phillips, Shub Minter, Tommy Roberson, James Russell, Billy Don Davis, Rick Porter, Scott Callaway, Jeff Traylor. So anytime you want to get up on the chalk board- I'll be your huckleberry!!
  5. No "tizzy". Just want you to know we are listening- and hearing what you say. Will be a great test for us on the 14th!
  6. Thanks Red, you just made the Big Sandy bulletin board! Always looking for good material. Larry Minter Big Sandy High School

  9. You would be hard pressed to find a week that all of our athletes do not lift twice a week year round. Maybe volleyball when tuesday game and thurs-sat tourn. Our entire facility is open everyday until 5:30pm in which coaches are required to stay and supervise. Yes, kids are strongly encouraged to lift before hitting the court as well as our bball coach has a ball handling and shooting workout posted to do before pick up games start. Today's athlete is so much different -- just being skilled in a sport is not enough. Thats what got me on the TENEHA- Cayuaga topic. It is the proof that 8 times out of 10 the best athletes win the game and thats the bottom line in small schools. So as a small school coach you have to dedicate time improving strength, speed, and agility. And with so many kids playing multiple sports it has to be INSEASON-OFFSEASON... Its working in BIG SANDY AMERICA. Lifting Schedule- 6 week cycles junior high football - Monday-Friday jv football - monday - friday varsity football - monday-wednesday - Saturday(if coach is #### off) volleyball - Monday wednesday basketball- monday wednesday baseball - monday wednesday- friday(non pitcher home game) track, golf, tennis- monday-wednesday-friday anyone not in a sport - Monday-Wednesday- Friday
  10. rubberhammer----- teneha was the better TEAM/SCHOOL. Cayuga has better basketball players.. As stated by Yugadad "3". Do you know what the most amazing thing is? Those five subs sittin on the edge of their seats waiting for the chance to go in and fight like *&^% for 25 seconds then come out and be nipping at the court to go again. Great coaches/kids/school..........
  11. Great point yugadad... It is not easy to go out and practice football in August, September, and October. Especially when three of your buddies are in that cool - nice gym, drinkin G2 and chillin. It takes 11 to play football and it takes five to play basketball. Sometimes a person needs to show their commitment to each other and the wheel turns real smooth. I bet the football players would be a lot more willing to go to the gym after a football practice if everybody was going TOGETHER??????? Not because the are the other 13 points.......Did you watch TENEHA during the game?? Those kids would die for each other... Yugas would blame each other......
  12. In a 1A school playing football DOES make you a better Basketball player. Alot of the reason Teneha beat Cayuga two years in a row!!!! Mental toughness Mental toughness Mental toughness..............Adversity... Adversity... Adversity.....
