  1. We really have some dumb football minded people on this board. Kirt you my friend need to read a book called NFL Draft for dummies and then you can be allowed to come back to this discussion. Maclin can't even run a NFL route tree let alone come close to being as productive as a veteran like Roy Williams. Maclin came out of a spread offense which is not NFL friendly, and if you need any proof just look at what people in the NFL think about Harrell and Daniels due to the offense they ran. Why do people keep thinking that Roy Williams is not a good receiver? This guy was a first round draft pick 5 years ago and has had some productive seasons. We as Cowboy fan expect way too much way too fast. Be patient, it takes time to build a good team and all things have to come together in the season to win. Chemistry is everything weather it is football or relationships. 1st round receivers are the most dangerous pick in the draft, they have boom bust written all over them. Maybe Manny can turn in to a Marques Colston type player. Remember Tony Romo wasn’t drafted, Tom Brady was a 6th round draft pick, and Terrell Davis was a 6th Round pick. Judging the draft off top is stupid and can’t be judged for another 3 years. Most team’s picks don’t pan out; if we hit on just 3 of these players and they become starters and contribute we had a successful draft.
  2. Every game in the NFL is a big game, no matter how you look at it. One game can make or break a season for a team. Now if you are talking about big games in the playoffs then no we haven't won those but there are alot of big games still played during the season.
  3. Wow really? Kirt, I have a question are you really as dumb as your post indicates? If you were a true football fan you would know that most of the receivers drafted into the NFL become a bust. If you don’t believe me go look up the first two rounds starting from 2004 and see how many are still playing. This is the NFL not D1 football there is a difference, I can almost guarantee you that out of the 5 guys that went in the first round maybe two of them become stars and that is a big maybe. The Cowboys receivers are for the most part young. They are starting to come in to their own. Roy had to learn a new offense and had to get on page with a new quarterback and everyone expects you to come in and have that magic connection, I’m sorry but it just doesn’t work that way. It takes time and takes a lot of reps. For example look at Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison it took them years to be as good as they were together, but they worked at it. But we as Cowboy fans want Roy to come right in and have that with Romo are you serious? A lot of Cowboy fans need to understand how hard it is to win in the NFL and come to the realization that we just became a good team again. It wasn’t too long ago that we were 5-11 and had no talent. Could be worse we could be Raiders fans.
  4. I see them as a Hybrid type player. He is not that great in coverage but he can hit. If he loses 15 lbs he will be a safety if not he will be a back up and a great special teams play. Hey we could always have him or Manny run the wildcat since both were running QB's in high school.
  5. It really is amazing to know how many guys just from East Texas were drafted yesterday. I believe if people haven't already they should be taking a really hard look at East Texas and the way we play ball.
  6. Dang it now I have to root for the Bengals and Niners..GRRRRRRR
  7. I like this draft class for a couple of reasons, first the Cowboys were not going to get anyone that is going to challenge for a starting job. It just won't happen, we have too much talent on paper. Second what were our problems last year...special teams and depth. We covered both of those with this draft. Everyone wanted us to draft a reciever high. Well how many receivers and history will back me on this actually become good in there first and second year. The learning curve for a NFL receiver is so great that is why people like Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, Heyeward Bey(calling this one early) and countless others become bust. Just becuase you can run a fast 40 doesnt mean you will be a good receiver. The best run 4.5 to 4.6. Give this draft class a chance they might suprise you.
  8. LMAO!!!!!!!! This just made my day.
  9. Which one are yuo talking about Shivers or Bell, I know O'Bryan got hurt but I don't ever remember Shivers getting hurt but I could be wrong.
  10. Yeah that was the most redic thing I have ever done. Looking back I don't know how I did it but then agian that's why we only had like 35 people our Sophmore year. The love for the game will make you do crazy things. I still remember that one kid getting heat stroke from practice. He really did have a redic practice, but we are better people today for it. We should get everyone back together and have a football Alumni game or something.
  11. Loftin you are def right about that, the man had some funny quotes. I think I still have nightmares about his practices but they made us better. Coach Garlitz had some good ones too. Wow that seems so long ago when we were out there running 20 Fortys for screwing up in practice. I still remember interval miles, chicken fried steak never tasted so good coming up.
  12. I was looking to see if anyone who coached with the good ol Buddy Ray had the workout he used in the weight room. I remember haitng it and how exhausted I was from it but now I look back and it was a great workout. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. This is a good story, glad he is getting his chance. I still think he should be playing in the NFL. He was an outstanding player at OK State. Good luck Martel
