  1. Could be a great game. Glad to see Newton doing well after having to go through the tragedy they had.
  2. I honestly don't know, I won't be going, but was shocked to see a new stadium in Buffalo. The arms race in football continues. Turf field are becoming more affordable as the price drops and is compared to the cost of maintaining a grass field.
  3. Posted a link. The field is better than BC's and there 4A
  4. Noticed that a second round playoff game was scheduled in Buffalo. I was really surprised to see this, because I can remember the old stadium they had there.I went to their website and saw that they had built a new stadium. Was it just finished? As a former grad from many years ago, I am pleased for the kids there.
  5. I tend to disagree, if you've got talent the NFL will find you, recent examples, Marcus Colston & Pierre Garcon and many other smaller school players. If you want to go to a school to experience its tradition and consistent success and maybe not play as much thats fine. If you want to go to a school that you will start 4 years, thats fine too. But please, don't use Texas as the example to get into the NFL. Texas signs 25 of the best players in the nation each year but generally has fewer of those kids drafted than some of the other power schools such as USC & Florida. I don't know why its this way but hopefully that will change.
  6. Don't think Elkhart, Buffalo, Centerville, or Trinity will be looking forward to being in a district with Crockett, I don't care what their record is this year. But who knows they may also move south and east. You never know which way the UIL will stretch that rubber band.
  7. 1. Arp 2. Troup 3. Garrison 4. West Rusk 5. Frankston 6. Elkhart Arp should be the class of the district. Troup, Garrison, and West Rusk fight for the other two playoff spots. Frankston is a complete unknown, overall will be small, but Well's kids will play hard Saw Elkhart last year against Garrison. They played hard, but have very little team speed and are not exceptionally athletic. Wish them luck but think they will have a lot to overcome.
  8. That would put a lot of East Texas teams (District 8) in with Panhandle-South Plains schools. Playoff travel headache
  9. I remember those Hubbard teams well, I was taught what goes around comes around. I am sorry for the present kids and staff at Hubbard, getting pummeled is no fun. It's a darn shame Mr. Coach didn't hang around for some of the medicine. It's one thing to leave your starters in till late in the game, so that your margin of victory is impressive versus being 9 or 10 deep and talented (I wish my team had that problem). I've seen Cayuga play, their problem is that their second 5 would win or be competitive in a lot of districts. My only suggestion for when they play lesser teams would be stall the ball, BUT that would not help them when they play better teams in the playoffs and would need to be on their game.
  10. Found this looking for the game hope it works for you http://www.streamaudio.com/stations/player...=&filename=
  11. Forget this. Can't even discuss a valid topic.
  12. Back on topic, This whole issue will be solved in one phrase. TITLE IX The next great problem for school districts will be equality of opportunity and facilities. Many schools are fine but some aren't. If I was a Supt. or AD, I would definitely be aware of this one. Most will be OK with the opportunity part, but size and quality of facilities for the ladies at some of our East Texas schools could be a problem. http://www.aauw.org/advocacy/laf//cases/jackson.cfm
  13. Most all of AA and all of A schools having 375 or less students play volleyball. I know very little about Winnsboro and why they don't play volleyball and could care less. But don't EVER get on her and say , with a straight face that there is not enough students. when I've see many, many school girls competing to represent there school in every sport and activity where the HS population is 200 or less and be successful  Volleyball season does very little wrap-over into basketball unless you make the playoffs and would not interfere with basketball unless your offseason is 9 months long. Most schools have a middle school gym that is utilized. If you think I'm crazy, fine, but this is the way most athletic programs work and use their facilities. Do I seem to be annoyed, I am. I have developed a healthy annoyance with this whole Winnsboro soap opera and do not want it to ruin a good message board.
  14. Wish I had been there, sounds like a classic game. One thing in sports is generally always true. Those that are able to give everything they have (players and coaches) almost always act with class and sportsmanship, while many (fans) have to live vicariously through the players and coaches. This pent up adrenalin sometimes leads these fans to releasing that energy through actions that can be seen as negative. I've sat beside them before. Yes they are annoying, but when they're not in the game, except emotionally, they have to have the outlet. Not apologizing for those fan, just an observation.
  15. Ganado has a good tradition in football, were real strong in AA a few years ago. Cayuga should win this, but be careful this is like the proverbial trap game, between Maud and Stratford
  16. Those who know anything about HS football will remember him for the almost two decades spent at Leon. Got more out of less than any coach I have seen. Finally went to Franklin. I guess it had been long enough since his dad, Joe had retired. You knew he would be successful, man's a darn good coach.
  17. Hedrick will have Franklin well prepared and I suspect a Franklin win. After that, I think its probably over with the big boys coming up- Newton/EC then Daingerfield/NW
  18. Nothing bothers me worse than the Big 10 worship that goes on at certain networks, (hack, hack.... ESPN) The conference is now no better than the Mountain West, but for the names of the schools.
  19. Tiger, I humbly disagree with you, look at their schedule. I went and watch them last Friday play a really good CC team. I have now seen both teams and was planning on holding any comments till after this Friday. You are going to have your hands full. They are the best most balanced team I have seen this year in AA. Arp can beat them but it will not be easy. Good Luck against Jefferson, hope you win, I really want to see the game of the year in AA.
  20. Serious problems in Aggieland, can't wait to read Texags.com Baylor up 34-7 in the 3rd quarter.
  21. Going to pull for Arp, after going to Woodville to watch Kirbyville beat a pretty good CC team, that's the game I want.
  22. I had made the comment on another thread that a Hedrick coach team will be disciplined, execute, and not beat itself. I see he hasn't changed.
  23. Odds aren't good. A Hedrick coached team doesn't beat itself very often, and they've been spotted 21.
  24. I do like what Briles has done this year. Just need a little better recruiting and they could become quite competitive. A&M future scares me, I hate to say this, but they could have made a poor choice for head coach.
