Longview made this decision to not renew, not Lufkin. It is funny how you can make quips about other teams, but it never works the other way.....Welcome to Walmart....:)
-
We will certainly take 35, we really need it to just stay close ......after last year...just saying. :)
-
We have got nothing to equal ....I'm telling ya, Ross is the real deal....just don't know what we are to do...like catching a fly with your feet. :) :)
-
Maybe???? If we make the playoffs. We got nothing! :) :)
-
Lobos have 45 seniors, we have 20, we are loaded with juniors and sophomore starters. Lobos at home, we are underdogs all the way around. Had to borrow your shtick at least one more time. Looks like we may not see you guys for the next 3 or 4 years. There are no expectations this year, just hoping to get out of Lobo with our dignity and no injuries. :) :)
-
I don't why we are even coming up there. We don't have a Mr Michael Football, we don't have nothing. Lobo 2nd team will be in before halftime. Just saying. :)

In the FNF football magazine for 2015 , they have Lufkin ranked #29 , Longview #14 , JT #8 and Ennis #6 Top 5 are Aledo. Temple, Cedar Park, Crosby and Fort Bend Ridge Point. This sounds much more reasonable to me than the AP or DC magazine.
-
Just an opinion guys. No quirky remarks needed back. Put Longview or JT or Ennis anywhere you want in that Top 10 line up or do not put them in the mix at all, I do not care. How Lufkin plays and finishes this year is my only real interest.
-
Longview is loaded with seniors (45) and speed, depth and size at most every position, #2 seems a reasonable slot for the Lobos to start. It's a compliment.
-
My take on the 5A Poll 1.Aledo 2.Longview 3.Ennis 4.Temple 5. JT 6.Cedar Park 7. Mansfield Lake Ridge 8.Crosby 9. Everman 10.(tie) Mansfield Timberview 10. (tie) Richmond George Ranch Lufkin somewhere around #14 or #15.

The numbers thing would have to grow on me, I like school emblems on jersey sleeve on any team. Always nice to have new unis to start the year.
-
It will be a good game no matter what. Those pollsters put us at #10 and you at #12 just to tick you Lobos off I think. They knew the two teams were opening the season against each other at Lobo. There is no way they could logically think Lufkin is a top 10 team, not even we Panther fans believe that mess. I am not quite sure what to expect from our young Lufkin group but if we can stay close even if a loss, I will feel better about our chances down the road. Lobo is a tough tough place to win.

Does not matter now. Does not matter if you out gained us 200 yards that day.....the outcome stays the same. All that counts in any situation is if you won or lost, doesn't matter any stat you come up with. That is all anyone remembers in the end. Just like last year,we split our two games at 1-1, but you guys won the important one, of course there was the next week with Lake Ridge. It happens to us all. Southlake was our nemisis and Lake Travis and Denton Guyer yours. None of that will be in play on the 28th of 2015. From the sound of everything I've been reading will be lucky just to score on the Lobo backups. Still it is Longview-Lufkin and anything can and will happen.

Countdown continues.................

Just do not want to think if that possibility, however one thing I've learned in life is never say never. -

Quite True and I believe little brothers 2 game win streak will end this year. -

No excuse. We are young, we should not be ranked. We have done nothing the past 8 years to deserve any consideration like this. -

Those guys doing the AP poll have no clue. Lufkin has much to prove. These rankings will be adjusted to the correct order soon enough. -
That poll is WAAAAY off IMO. No respect for the Lobos who should be at least #2. Lufkin should be #12 or less. Those sports writers have no clue. Real Lufkin fans know where all this stands, we don't understand it any more than the Lobo fans.

Well, everyone is there and healthy in the Lufkin camp. They are not in pads so I just don't put much stock in watching them running plays and not hitting. The numbers are not exact because Coach did not give us the numbers. There are about 95 Freshman and best I could tell about 90-95 combined on the varsity/JV, with everyone going from station to station on two separate fields it was hard to get an accurate count. Were told somewhere between 5-8 more should be there before the end of the week. They are holding up in the heat well so far no major problems have occurred.

Thank You. Really thought he looked a little older than 47. Guess, it's just the grey hair. Coaching HS football will do that to some folks.

Back to the topic and our side of the tracks in 16-5A. Ennis is the Champs regardless of them graduating folks. Anytime your a State Champ there is a carry over regardless, a program feeds off that accomplishment. In my book they are the favorites going in, as someone else said, they have great coaching. JT would be next with most of their D returning. Then it becomes a mix master of who will be where. Some people say Lufkin at 3rd, but Lufkin did lose a bunch off a team that lost 5 games by a total of 20 point. Close, but that only counts in horse shoes. Lufkin has much to prove. It really becomes a toss up after that except I expect Corsicana to be better because they were young last year and Jacksonville because they have a very good coaching staff now in it's first year. Whitehouse and Nacogdoches are really rebuilding and then there is Lindale. District does not look as tough as last year, but then again outside of Ennis and JT, maybe it's about the same.

True to a degree and IF your literally at full strength, but it all becomes hypothetical when your not because it is then just reality. They don't put IF you were at full strength it would have been a different results in the scorebook records with ***** by the losing score. Three years ago Lufkin went down to A&M Consolidated to play, had only 38 players suited up because of injury and suspensions, they lost 2 more during the game. Lufkin won that game 71-68 in 4 OT, against an undefeated team and one who had not lost on their field in 5 years. Now if we had lost that game, guess we could have said IF too, but we did not have to. You win or lose with what you have on any given night, like when the Lobos were at full strength against Lake Ridge. You see , all hypothetical.

A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Injuries and suspensions are part of the game. You play with who you have. I can think of several woulda shoulda if only we had games for Lufkin in the past. It was still a loss. Play for the future, that's all you got. Past is Past.
