A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Injuries and suspensions are part of the game. You play with who you have. I can think of several woulda shoulda if only we had games for Lufkin in the past. It was still a loss. Play for the future, that's all you got. Past is Past.

A decent chance to not only compete with, but good chance to beat JT and Ennis.

LP No Yes No

Just a question. What is John King's age?

Very sorry to hear about your Mom. When these things happen in a family, it make football pale by comparison. God Bless.

I am not going to vote in the poll. We all know this is a huge rival game for both schools. Not bad for a season opener. Lobo Stadium is a tough place to win, just like Abe is for Lufkin. We all know that winning this game early does not represent where these two team will be the middle of November, as Lufkin can attest from last season. On paper Longview has a ton of returning starters, 49 seniors I believe, while Lufkin replaces a senior core that had carried them for two years, although those years were 5-6 and 6-5, I would not read too much into that. Lufkin will be young at many spots. From 7 on 7 it looks like some potential exist to be okay at some point in the season for the skill guys. This will be an intense game because it always is, the kids on both sides get up for this game, even if we played 4 times a year, it would be the same. Longview should be the clear favorite here, I would expect nothing less based on what the Lobos have coming back and playing at home. It will be a learning curve for the young Panthers. Lufkin starts the season with three straight road games @ Longview, @ Tyler Lee , @ Shreveport and West Monroe. Then an off week then finally we open at Abe in district against Nacogdoches on 9/25. Lufkin will know a lot more about where they stand by then. Longview 's O Line will be hard to stop.

It would be a good game.

My only thought is if the Lobos and JT win will they play each other in the championship game or just go on down the road as qualified.

Longview will take on Tyler Lee in one 7-on-7 semifinal. John Tyler plays Atascocita on the other side. Winners advance to state tourney. Third Round scores: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CH9izwCUAAAwH2a.jpg

Lufkin is young and will need to fill the shoes of about 35 graduating seniors. They have much work to do with a new DC on board. The scrimmage lasted less than 2 quarters due to a game ending thunderstorm. So, what we did see was lots of young guys trying to find their way in live action. Looked real good at times, then you would see just the opposite. There is some young talent in this group, just have wait and see.

No real thoughts here until I know who has what coming back. Ennis and Lufkin lose a bunch to graduation. Most of JT defense returns, Longview is loaded again. Don't know much about the metro schools except they do have acess to lots of talent. Don"t know much about Texas High either. When you down this far South it is harder to keep up with current info most of these teams. Lufkin is replacing so much next year, it is hard to gauge them right now.

Best Quarterback in East Texas For 2015 Season?
PackAttack replied to headhunter02's topic in High School Sports
Kordell will be the QB next season for Lufkin. However, we need to replace lots at WR and he did play WR for Lufkin last year. Lots of changes to take place for 2015, it will be interesting. -
Lufkin is the odd man out here with our placement as the school located furtherest South and Nacogdoches is not certain to be in that package deal either, they have not been in the past when we went South to the Klein / Conroe districts for 10 years. Lufkin's enrollment is up now but the town just had 500 people layed off by GE/Lufkin Industries which could affect our numbers in October. Oil ad Gas prices down , jobs are lost. Of course not all of those people losing jobs live in Lufkin proper or are in the LP district. So we will see how this all shakes out. IMO it would not be a good thing for Lufkin to head back to 6A under the current conditions. We will not be the program we were under Outlaw again anytime soon, Maybe never again, just hard to say after two really bad years in a row. This will be a rebuild year for Lufkin, few starters returning and young. Going down to Huntsville would not be a bad deal, going back to Conroe would not be that bad I guess, at least we know what we are getting into there, playing The Woodlands is kind of like playing Longview. Lufkin could be put almost anywhere, while there are enough East Texas schools no matter what happens, to at least form one good ET district and I hope Lufkin is part of it.

There is every reason for the Lufkin fan base to not be very confident after a 5-6 and 6-5 seasons, with the talent we had leaves one that way. Hiring a new DC is just a move, the mind set of the program and it's goals must change too, it is much deeper than hiring one new guy. It all starts at the top.

I hate this thread, but a necessity (HS Football Coaching Changes)
PackAttack replied to Smoaky's topic in High School Sports
Lufkin has selected a new defensive coordinator, no name has been released awaiting confirmation from the Lufkin School board which strongly indicates the hire is from outside the current Panther staff. Coach Quick just said a decision had been made and awaiting board confirmation, no names or indications of who they may be, very secret about it all, but said the new DC will probably be confirmed before the end of March. So let the guessing games begin, Personally have no clue at all, absolutely none. I plan to just wait and see. -
5A D1 R2 Area: Longview vs Mansfield Lake Ridge
PackAttack replied to LoboFan07's topic in High School Sports
Sorry for your loss. It was quite a shocker to see when I got in from working outside. Think they were the only Mansfield team to win this weekend. Somebody else has stole my signature picture too. Anyway , later ..... -
5A D1 R2 Bi-District: Longview vs Lufkin
PackAttack replied to LoboFan07's topic in High School Sports
That did not mean he was a scrub ADMIN EDIT. My " Oh well" was about him not playing all season and now he is ready just in time for the playoffs. Stop reading things into stuff that is not there. That is all I will say, I am done. Just wanted to clear that misrepresented point up. -
Your getting Hasty back right before the playoffs. O well.
-
This was and is the Lufkin Panther forum, temporarily suspended due to tech difficulties. Pack will suspend the Lions tonight too.

My confidence in the Lufkin defense is about like predicting the weather. Your say 30% and you get 100%, like today. Very unpredictable from week to week. If they play like they did the first three games, then we may have something to talk about later, but if it is like the last two weeks, then we know the out come no matter what the Lufkin O can do. Everything hinges on whether Jekyll or Hyde shows up as the Lufkin D.

The final was SA 15 JC 13. A defensive struggle.
