No one wants to go 0 -2 to start district. This is a survival game to stay in the race. Lufkin is at home and they play well there. They have a pretty nasty disposition right now, so we will see. I am a Homer so I am pulling for the Panthers. No score prediction.

Well, if we go 0-2 and don't finish well with this years team. ???????? Honestly, have never seen a Lufkin team with this much talent on both sides of the ball have such issues. The kids like playing together, in fact most of these seniors have been together since middle school, they are a tight group I am told. Look the only guys you still have coaching Lufkin that had any part at all with the Lufkin Championship back in 2001 is Quick, Green, Stafford, Guzman and McPherson. Stafford was a 1st year guy back then and Green coached the WR. Guess McPherson has always been kicking coach. Quick was the DC back then and I am not sure about Guzman, he has coached the RB for a while now and does a good job. For varsity football, Quick has been at LHS 20 years, Guzman 29, Green 19, Stafford 14, McPherson 24 and OL coach Cook 12 years. I think Nacogdoches can win this game , if they don't have a let down from last weeks big win.

Nac vs. Lufkin district 16-5A opener

They have some decent coaching over there now, however Lufkin soundly beat every Nacogdoches sub varsity program from the 7th grade up through JV so not sure what the future holds for either program. All that really counts was last night. -

Then they had best figure it out pretty quick. It wasn't just the option, it was up the middle too. Our secondary looked lost much of the night. We have been giving up the big rushing yards and won the first two, but it is catching up to us now. The smoke and mirrors have been figured out. Plus we only threw for 113 yards and the Dragons had their best cover guy out with an injury. Gotta go, my head is spinning. Good luck. -

Congratulations to Nacogdoches. You deserved the win. You have one tough QB McClellan, Lufkin pounded him all night but he just got back up and made the plays to win. He is the best QB we have faced this year and was the best on the field last night. If your going to throw a deep ball at least throw it as far as your receiver, hang time was at least 4 seconds. Lufkin has much work to do on defense, they could never figure out that option pitch. Simple, somebody hit the QB and hit the option guy. Fundamentals 101. -
So they get by a Lufkin or John Tyler in the 1st round? Back to this game. Longview wins this game 59- 12 and the 12 points will be a positive on the season for Pine Tree.

Nac vs. Lufkin district 16-5A opener

This is another game I am really wanting to get past because we have had two long weeks to talk about this mess. Just like the Longview game we had 3 months to talk about. Nacogdoches thinks they have played somebody because those teams did something last year, but they did not play last years Kilgore or Carthage teams. However, they are 3-0 and that means something, Lufkin is 2-1 against a pretty strong schedule of teams that I don't think Nacogdoches or any of their opponents could compete with. Then again, the game must be played and the Dragons beat Lufkin last year in Nac and we are back there again this year. Home field advantage will hep the Dragons but this year the ending will be different if Lufkin takes care of the ball as they should. Lufkn wins this years game 44-21. GO PACK! -

Normally don't get into discussion here but I believe Lufkin has this game with a big circle around it on the calender. Nacogdoches caught the Panthers a little down last year, but this years team is much different. On the JC -Lufkin game you really can't judge that game unless you were there in person, Lufkin was their own worst enemy and should have won the game if not for their early Christmas gift giving. Not even going to speak about how bad the Louisiana officials were that day. If Lufkin takes care of the ball, even the officials could not have saved John Curtis. The #24 national ranking is a joke. JT beat a bad Plano team, a Lonview team missing 7-10 would be starters and then lost to Tyler Lee who really put up some big numbers last night beating Garland Saches 62-49. Lufkin beat a Longview team not hitting on all their normal cylinders and missing their top rated RB, beat a decent Tyler Lee team and self destructed against a very well coached Curtis team, with a questionable national ranking. Nacogdoches has played Kilgore, Hallsville and a down Carthage program. Nothing in the way of the competition that Lufkn, JT or Longview has played, throw in Ennis playing Mainsfield Timberview and Denton Guyer in a tough non district, 16-5A will be tough. Not sure except for Texas High how tough 15-5A will be, just don't see anything to stand in the Lobos way, not even mosquito infested Sulphur Springs. Longview, if they get everyone back and experienced, they will be a formidable opponent for anyone come playoff time. Not sure I like that, but it's true. Lufkin in 16-5A will only improve too as should JT, then you have Whitehouse playing well and you may have to outscore Jacksonville although they have not played a tough schedule. Lufkin will take it to Nacogdoches, I have no doubt of it. Regardless, it should be a very competitive District 16-5A race. Lufkn 44 Nacogdoches 14 -
Lufkin turned in 2088 back in October 2013 to get their realignment numbers, they may have 2196 now with the new year, That is a 108 student increase. Nothing fishy about it at all. We also have nice increase at our Middle school too. However, I do know what your driving at here but it doesn't hold water.
-
Plano looked very one dimensional and played with their back up QB in the 2nd half. Don't think they are a great team by any means, hard to judge how good you are with a team like that. Longview is better than they played against Lufkin and they will be at home and they are a better team than Plano. This game will be a very competitive game, it would not surprise me at all that Longview wins this game. JT is probably a slight favorite, but playing in Lobo Stadium is anything but comfortable.

Nac vs. Lufkin district 16-5A opener
PackAttack replied to nacdragon07's topic in High School Sports
At least we get our water from an under ground spring fed aquifer and not out of that nasty stinking Lake Nac. If our OC had kept running the ball last year at the 10 yard line instead of running a ill advised slip screen that ended in a pick 6, Lufkin wins last year by 10. No surprises this year. Give credit where credit is due, Nac deserved to win last year. Different outcome this year. -
It was just a matter of time. You held out longer than most. :)

You got that right. My pilot light for the bantering does not burn as hot as it once did. These days I'm just, let's play the darn game and move on.
-
I am not doing this. :) About 70 hours and counting before we find out. I can wait. :)
-
All I am thinking about is 21-10, 45-14 and 55-30. :) I think you have had your turn.
-
You just figuring that out? :)

Which of these scenarios would you choose for your football team?
PackAttack replied to JTFAN99's topic in High School Sports
You guys can sure turn #### around. My statement was that I do not discredit your Championship from 1937. Don't jump on my tail, your too sensitive. I also was not talking about kids being born or not in school at the time of a championship. My final point was there probably was not anyone alive in Longview any longer that witnessed that Championship in 1937. Take it easy, I was not being negative. Your sort of touchy don't you think? -

Not discrediting any Championship. Someone earned it, no matter how long ago it was. However 1937 was a long time ago, young people can't relate to it, it's not tangible to them. Remember that after 77 years, anyone connected to that Championship is dead. Nothing sticks with you like being there and having the memory. No one living in Longview has that today. -
Well, I don't think the Lobos are going to waltz into Abe this year and just run away with things like they think. Yes, the sweet smell of confidence is in the air, it is refreshing. See you in a couple weeks.

Well, the GP acquisition of Temple , GE buying Lufkin Industries and the new Army National Guard facility here has brought in a few new folks. No recruiting rumors needed. :) Every little bit helps.

Looked very good. No pads until Thursday or Friday, They picked up 10 transfers, some from the East Texas area, one from Jasper, one from the Show Me State of Missouri and one coming in from last years Mississippi 6A State Champion. Got a few players that adds to our depth.

It is all about the sponsor money to run things. Hopefully they will do a better job in the stadium this year. Gone is the kickoff is sponsored by Socia's Septic Systems. Not sure about Big Nasty's side of tings.
