Went down to Huntsville. They are pre-season #5 in 5A DII. They have 8 starters back on their offense, but lost about half of the defense from 2020. Huntsville won the controlled scrimmage portion 2-1. Don't have the break down whether it was against 1s or 2s, it doesn't matter anyway. In the live 2 quarter portion both teams scored three times, the difference was Huntsville missed on two 2 pt attempts, the score ending 21-19 for Lufkin. Lufkin has brand new faces at almost all key offensive positions, the Panther defense returns more starters from 2020 team that started 5 sophomores on the D. Huntsville is very good on offense this year, their D is decent too but they are replacing folks there like we are on our offense.

Legacy is a 12 point favorite by Jerry's Pigskin Prep. That sounds like a sure deal to me. We'll see what Matt Stepp's odds are later in the week. I read the Tyler Telegraph article about the Legacy-Marshall scrimmage, Joe Willis made it sound like the Red Raiders were the physical team, and smacked Marshall around pretty good.

Lufkin Lady Pack Volleyball opened the new Multi Purpose facility with a BIG win over Willis High School. After a 1st set loss, the girls came back to take 3 sets in a row. Lufkin is now 2-0 against two 6A programs. Next action @ Central Heights tourney this weekend. Next home game - Lufkin's own Tourney - August 19-21!

He never actually played at Lewisville, transferred from Palmetto (Fla.) HS. Renaud is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 27 player in the nation, No. 9 DL and No. 5 player in Texas. Has 17 offers, including Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Auburn, Miami and Michigan.

Ewers said he made the move to advance HIS college career and to make money. He has moved on from Southlake, his teammates and high school days to Columbus, Ohio. More power to him, and I'm sure Southlake has a QB waiting in the wings or something will transpire to find a replacement. The NCAA has created an open ended can of worms with NIL. Money is now the root, my bet is 50% of those who leave HS early will find their football success more difficult than they imagine. Texas High School football will have to deal with it in some way. While other players will do this too, for the most part it will only be the 5 Star guys who can graduate early in order to move on. No panic on my part, just gives the next guy a chance to get playing time. That never changes.

Jamarion Miller torched Lufkin for 347 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries and Bryson Donnell added 121 yards and a touchdown on eight carries for an offense that gained 649 yards. Lufkin had a big night from Caleb Berry, who ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries, while Jordan Moore threw for 229 yards and a touchdown on 15-of-33 passing, but Lufkin was undone by several costly mistakes along with a run defense that found no answers. Both Miller and Donnell return to the Legacy offense in 2021, as do a couple of starting offensive lineman Donovan Jordan and Kade Fry Legacy will have new QBs Luke Wolf or Bruce Bruckner, and WRs Ladavion Butler, Ja’Kaleb Turner and Elijah Howard. Lufkin has several starting spots to fill on offense, with only 3 returning starters in WR Cameron Jackson and Offensive Lineman Trent Mosby and Aaron McMillian. New additions to the Panther OL will be Aiden Henson, Christian Wynn and Mark Requena. Jamarion Johnson will also return with playing time in 2020. LB Chrismon Sigler, CB Cameron Lister, LB Charlie Deaton, LB/DE Jermaine Simpson, DL/DE Braylen Holman, S Ceasar Sandoval will be players to watch. Lufkin's Elijah Moody will lead the Panthers at QB this year, with TJ Hammond and Kendren Young also two capable backups for the Panthers. Kendren Young, Javorie Garrett, Justavain Fann and Zach Silger will get carries at RB. Young can also play WR. Everything an athlete does is a calculated risk. Doesn't matter if the kid has 60 scholarship offers to 30 P5 schools. There are no guarantees, and only the most fortunate make the final cut, most for only a short period in the NFL. I can't tell you how many really good athletes I've seen, have their HS, College or NFL opportunities dissolved in an instant to either injury or decisions made in their life. If you are lucky enough to negotiate the maze and avoid all the pitfalls, then maybe you make it more than the 4 year NFL average, maybe??? This decision Blue has made only takes one year of HS football practices and games out of the equation. Is this a trend? Not sure, because only a chosen few can decide this path. What he does is his business, and I guess some people will be watching to see how it all works out for him. I won't, but I do wish him good luck, because he's probably going to need a little along the path he's trying to take.

Lufkin has been traveling, playing some Elite 7 on 7 tournaments since March under the name of Lufkin Reign, against teams from Texas and other States. They are playing in a 7 on 7 Tourney in Houston this weekend. Not sure if it's an SQT or another elite format. Talked to WR Journie Thomas today. They are also playing in a local 7 on 7 league on Wednesday nights.

2021 Carthage DAWGS, will they play for # 9
PackAttack replied to cowboyandchrist's topic in High School Sports
No one else in East Texas will ever have that many rings. The 8th one on the left pinky is a little obscured. It doesn't matter what class they are in, they have done it in the class they play. Just like Katy (8) and Southlake (7) have done in 6A and Aledo (10) in 5A. Not easy. -
Not enough emphasis here, on whether Klein Cain actually needs this kid in 2021. The KC program probably has other RBs moving up in their ranks, they may not be a Jaydon Blue, but everyone has to be replaced eventually. I'm sure that program will be fine in the long run. Blue made a decision, for whatever his reasons, good, bad or indifferent. There are other things flying around out there about why, no need to even speak about them. If Blue has any success at all @ UT, he won't be there two years before declaring for the NFL. That is this kids prime end goal, and he tell us this in his tweet. Believe me, he is surrounded by adults (his family included) giving him guidance to do this, they evidently have a long term stake in his future, if you know what I mean. Good luck to him, because there is still a long road ahead of that young man, there are still no guarantees either.

I understand Nac had a player and a fan tossed in the game.
