  1. It just seems like too many mouths to feed with us being a run first team. But with how well we've drafted over the past several seasons, I should give them the benefit of the doubt.
  2. I hate this pick. I can't understand where he's going to fit in, outside of special teams, but to spend that high of a pick on a punt returner? . If you're going to take a receiver, why not a big play guy who can take the top off a defense like KD Cannon? He won't unseat cole beasley. Plus I believe switzer was going to be there for the next two rounds, even if you're crazy about him. I can't understand this.
  3. Samuel will never fall that low. Too fast and too much explosion for him to fall to round three. I definitely don't want tj watt. In a perfect world we'd get Barnett, but again he won't fall to us. I think we'll wind up with someone like Adoree Jackson out of USC or maybe Charles Harris. My dream pick would be Jabrill Peppers though.
  4. I don't see is falling off that much. We lost Carr (what did we lose?), Claiborne who was get when he played but he didn't play, church was decent, and Wilcox was great against the run, but by no means pro bowl caliber. We sill have our best two corners from last year in scandrick and Brown, and our 1st round pick Byron Jones who I think will finally emerge as a well respected safety. I see us, if healthy on our oline and our star players going 12-4, splitting with new York, sweeping Washington and Philly, losing to Kansas City, Seattle, and Oakland.
  5. Emmitt is a close second behind moose. He never gets the credit he deserves because of the line he had, but the cowboys just weren't the cowboys without emmitt in the lineup. I think I read somewhere where troy aikman never won a game when emmitt was not in the lineup.
  6. I'd have to agree with you on witten/zeke being Monty favorites right now. Witten is all that is man. I'll never forget the play against philly where they ripped his helmet off and he scampered for about 50 yards, face bleeding and all. And zeke...he's exciting in the same way barry Sanders was exciting, in that every run Haas a chance to go all the way. Another one of my favorites to watch was Roy Williams. Back when we stunk, I would watch the games because I knew there would be at least one hit where he'd lay the wood.
  7. Espn makes me sick. I just watched a segment on first take where max kellerman defended lavar Vall's statement that basically said you can't play winning basketball if you have a lot of white people on the team. He is such a black man apologist.
  8. Jurgenson, too but he did win an nfl championship and played over half his career before the merger
  9. No, and while I'm a big Romo fan, even I can tell you he won't sniff canton. Not very many qbs are in the hall without at least one championship, save for guys like tarkenton, marino, moon, and fouts. I'm Not even sure there are any other than those four.
  10. Exactly on your point about it being an arms race. Took the words right outta my mouth. Not to mention, those early 90's niners teams were already great on both sides of the ball. You'd be hard pressed to find a better defensive backfield, with hanks, Davis, and Tim McDonald. Deion just put them over the top. I don't know how old when he went to the niners...maybe 26? Sherman is already up there in age. If his cap hit wasn't so big i could handle maybe giving the 28th pick, but that's all.
  11. Not sure if we can afford both Sherman and Martin along with everyone else. With the Kevin Zeitler record breaking signing, Martin will ask for astronomical money, which in fairness he would deserve. Seattle's asking price is a "very high" draft pick and a "very good" player. don't want to give up the pick, nor the player.
  12. Even if we are in a "win now" mode, I don't think our defense flips the script from where we were last year by adding Richard Sherman. We have to worry about locking Dak up in the future. We have to concentrate on locking Martin up soon. We lock Martin up, and we're set on offense for awhile, I think. I just don't think Sherman makes our defense much better. If we can't get a pass rush, I don't care who you have back there; they will be toast.
  13. I just wonder if Sherman's productivity is largely due to having such an incredible defense. He will be back there all by himself without the aide of a heavy hitter like Kam Chancellor,or a ball hawking safety like earl Thomas. I don't know that it's worth taking a gamble on a.) Trading a high pick, b.) Trading a "very good" player, on top of the fact we'll have to pay him. I say no deal.
  14. Yup and that's what people these days seem to understand. You get people who look at a quarterback and if they don't have any rings, then they didn't come thru "when it counted most." It's like they don't know how to watch football. How many rings would Montana have without those underrated defenses he always seemed to have? Montana had one season where his defense wasn't top ten, and by no coincidence it was his only losing season as a qb.
  15. I remember seeing Warren Moon's home when I was like 7 or 8. He threw the prettiest spiral and was fun to watch.
  16. True, but I think I was 1 when earl retired. The oilers I remember were of the run & shoot variety.
  17. I actually liked the oilers back then. Moon, jeffires, givins, drew hill, Curtis Duncan, and two HOF offensive linemen. Those offenses were fun to watch.
  18. Totally agree that he belongs in the ring. He was a go to guy on third downs and was just one of the few on the team that want a part of the night life like so many of those players were back then.
  19. I was watching some old Dallas cowboys film from the 1992 season here recently and the nostalgia was kicking into high gear. My favorite cowboys player from that era was Moose Johnston. He was a hard working, blue collar type who obviously didn't get much publicity, but he was such an outstanding blocker, had soft hands for the position and was also a great special teams player, to boot. I just remember as a kid being in awe of how HUGE his shoulder pads were. I always loved the 'Mooooooose'call every time he'd touch the ball, and when emmitt broke the rushing record, he went over to the sidelines where Moose was standing and they hugged and add they did, the whole crowd joined in for one more of those Moose' calls. Loved it. So who was your favorite football player and why?
  20. Not hating on white, I just think romo was a much better qb than he was, and that much of the teams success while Romo was here was largely due to Romo. It's of course all just speculation, but I believe if Danny white qb'd this cowboys team over the last 10-12 years, we might be a .500 club. Maybe. However romo on some of those great early 80's teams would've netted a super bowl victory.
  21. i respectfully disagree. He's so far ahead of Danny white it's not even funny. Danny white had Tony Dorsett and the Doomsday frickin defense. Tony Romo, with a top 5 defense and a HOF caliber running back gets us to super bowls, I believe. That said, I do not believe Romo will be inducted into the ring of honor.
