EB looks like just a lateral move, must not be a lot coming up for Harmony.
Maybe he’s looking to move to that area.

Just a rumor, take it for what it's worth.
I've heard he has applied for every HFC job open in the area.
I guess he doesn't want to work under someone not his father......
Or, he's capitalizing on that RING......
Or, he doesn't want to be exposed next year without a D1 athlete to run the offense......
Could it possibly have something to do with the fact that Groveton is not very far from his hometown and he’s looking to move back to that area? There are probably several guys that applied for most, if not all of the open jobs in East Texas. Why shouldn’t he capitalize on the ring? And since you mentioned the D1 athlete, I’m guessing you think he’s avoiding that exposure by utilizing the half dozen D1 kids that Groveton has in pipeline.

I really think it's a 3 horse race.
SA, Timpson and Garrison could all win the District and/or the Region.
I have no doubt that SA will be much improved this year, and a very likely playoff team. They were essentially a JV team last year. But it’s a huge leap from 3-7 to winning the region.

Former head coach of Georgia Tech....great hire for the eagles!
He’s gonna install the veer option. It’s just like novacaine. Give it time and it will work.

Wonder if any of the assistant coaches are spending their winter break looking for jobs.
I bet that happens at more schools than it doesn’t during winter break.

Low participation numbers and long road trips for games put this ISD between a rock and a hard place.

So alto never played a game and lost 2 years. Playing an ineligible player seems just as bad as getting the wrong numbers. But thanks for the information
Never try to apply logic to anything involving the UIL.

Anyone know what’s going on with marlin they forfeited all of their first round games in district. And won all the rest to make it as a 4th seed. Heard they played an ineligible player. But to me that doesn’t make sense you could still be allowed to be in the playoffs.
You are only required to forfeit games in which the ineligible player played. If she didn’t play in the rest of the games or had his eligibility restored before those games, those wins count towards playoff eligibility. So if they won enough games with elgible players, they still qualify for the playoffs.

Haven't seen either, but what makes Martin Mills and Lipan so good every year? They put it on higher classification teams that are ranked. Full court press non-stop? I'm guessing those towns do basketball year round to.
What has struck me seeing these two teams play several times is how fundamentally strong they are. All of their kids dribble, pass, shoot and play defense at a high level. They execute their system to a T, and they seem to always have one kid that can shoot out the lights. Both communities are passionate about hoops.

Congrats to Coach Jones!!
I think people underestimate some of the athletes that have came through Joaquin over the past 6-8 seasons. I don’t see going to five wide just quite yet tho
Trueblue, isn’t there supposed to be a class of younger kids coming that has some very good athletes in the group?
The group that will be sophomores this season has one outstanding athlete and a couple of kids that will be really good as they grow a little. I’m not sure where we stand on linemen at the time. We’re probably not as deep as the 22 group (probably one of the deepest groups we’ve had), but the cupboard isn’t bare. This district is still very strong, even with Timpson graduating one of the best classes Shelby County has ever seen. Nothing will come easy.

Does he stay Slot T or change?
I don’t know for sure. They’ve been incorporating some read option stuff into the offense for the last few years, but we were still running everything out of the slot-t formations until last year. In 23 we started running a limited pistol package with some more zone read and QB power concepts. I’m curious to see what he does offensively. With him having been OC, he now has that spot open so he might have someone in mind for it. I’m intrigued to say the least.

Jared Jones is the new Boys Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Joaquin ISD. Jared is a 2005 graduate of JHS, and has been the offensive coordinator for the Rams as well as the boys track and field coach since 2015. This will be his first head coaching job.
My personal feelings: had there been a “home run hire” (a Kerry Therwanger or Rocky Baker, someone with head coaching experience and a proven winning record) in the mix, tour administration would have been foolish not to at least consider them. In the absence of that, if you’re hiring someone who will be a AD/ HFC for the first time, it’s the right thing to do to give that chance to the guy who has worked hard for your school and your kids for the past nine years. Any coaching hire is a roll of the dice, no matter their resume’ or their record. But we gambled on a first time head coach nine years ago and we’ve won 70% of our games since.
I support Coach Jones and his staff and I would encourage him to put his own stamp on the program and build it with his own vision.
GO RAMS!

The administration and the board are staying pretty tight lipped.

Should’ve been playing linebacker at that size.
That would have left us playing a 190# kid at DT. Besides, Lambo wasn’t smart enough to play LB.

Coach Surratt said in an interview that SB called them wanting a game. They want to play at UH, but if they can’t make that happen they will probably play at one of the high schools in the Austin area. SB isn’t exactly a doormat in 6A. They are a playoff team every year and went 10-2 last season. This is a good matchup.

I saw 6 games last year. In 5 of them, from my perspective, the officiating improved over what I saw in the 9 games I watched in 2022. Keep in mind my team only won one of those 6 this year, and only lost two of those 9 in 22. That’s a very small sample size, but I do believe that the quality of officiating improved from one season to the next. Will this trend continue? I hope so. It is a thankless job without adequate compensation, which is leading to the shortage. But if you look around this country, there are thousands of people who don’t want to work one job, much less a second one that requires quite a bit of training, study, preparation, and getting off your keester and getting in shape. The shortage is not exclusive to high school athletics officials. It’s in every single sector of our economy.
