  1. I saw on Smoaky's front page that Whitehouse High School had another D1 commitment. Joey Gautney a DL has commited to Louisiana Monroe. I know they had the kid that's going to Oklahoma and I believe another going to TCU. Someone tell me about this Gautney kid. Do they have any others? I don't remember hearing of Whitehouse having that many D1s in the past. Are they up and coming? Let me know about this DL.
  2. Mesquite Poteet will be the next opponent. Not sure where though. I believe they have 23 - 5 record, and according to the Dallas Morning News, they are the top rated 4A team in the DFW area.
  3. Sounds like a disgruntled parent with an axe to grind, or just jealousy. Heard their defense was very young last year with alot of soph. playing a majority of the time. That could be the reason their defense was not as strong. How many games did they win last year? ClutchCargo you have identified several areas you are concerned with and also took a cheap shot ( I love people with character) at their coaching staff. Please enlighten us on your solutions to these problems. Constructive criticism usually provides an area of concern and a solution. Let me guess, make defense and special teams a part of the game (very deep), work on the one dimensional offenses (like Sulphur), teach kids to tackle, let's not forget to fire the defensive staff as well. Maybe they could hire some armchair quarterbacks to run their defense. We'll start with Clutchcargo and his gang. The more I here Clutchcargo's observations, the less I think of the knowledge he professes. Sometimes it is better to keep ones mouth shut and let people thank he is a fool, than to open it and prove it beyond a doubt.
  4. Sounds like a disgruntled parent. Possible lack of playing time for a player? As I have said before, if you win it is because you have athletes, if you lose it is the coaches fault. Don't you just love these expert "Monday morning QBs(guards)." I love the way you praise Coach Tomlin and then twist the dagger. What was your username? Brutus? My guess is disgruntled parent. Could be wrong though.
  5. To answer your previous question, yes I was at the game and heard the comments he made at the end of the game. And yes, his family heard them too. As far as what was said in the hallway sometime after the game, I don't know. I agree with you that we all probably lose our tempers at times, but the question is how do you / I respond when this anger builds? Hopefully in the appropriate way. I also agree that if you do not know someone, you should at least give them the benefit of the doubt. But when you here it first hand, that benefit of the doubt goes out the window. You claim he is a good man, and maybe he is in other situations. I just find it hard to believe based on his outburst the other night. I am a strong advocate of responsibility and being held accountable for ones actions. Having children who have gone through the public school system (like many have), I hope they see teachers/coaches who model responsibility/accountability in their actions. We are each held accountable for our actions. If we are wrong in a situation, we should feel obligated to try to "right" that situation and learn from our mistakes. Hopefully this is what will happen in this situation. Once again great season Coach Tomlin and the Wildcats.
  6. Excellent, wish all schools were that way.
  7. Devastated to the point of dropping "F" bombs all over the place in front of all these people? Sounds like someone out of control. I'm sure alot of people are disappointed in how the game finished, but show a little class, and if your are that distraught, go to the source and discuss it one-on-one instead of making a fool out of yourself. I can't think of any situation where someone should react the way he did. If he does know better, then he cannot control his emotions and needs help (anger management maybe?). The first step he needs to do is have a meeting with Coach Tomlin (and assistants) and apologize for his inapropriate actions, and then probably apologize to Tyler Junior College for setting such a poor example in representing the school. I have to agree, we all make mistakes in the heat of the moment at times, but a true mark of character is how you right the situation. I can't see how both coaches need to be settled when only one showed his true colors. I guess what bothers me the most about the situation is that the agitator is a coach. Parents sometimes live through their kids and tend to react emotionally and without thinking at times, but a coach should displaying this behavior with another coach boggles the mind. But, adversity more times than not, generally shows true character. I hope I am wrong in this situation.
  8. I agree too many speculators. Super season for Coach Tomlin and the Wildcats. What was their final record 29-4? Excellent record for any team. I cannot believe that the basketball coach for TJC was shouting profanities at the Whitehouse coaches and in front of Coach Tomlin's family. TJC must be very proud of this person being a representative of their school. Maybe a little one-on-one with the school(TJC) officials need to take to prevent this embarassment from happening again. I'm sure we all have differing opionions on what should or should not be done, but do it in the correct way. It's funny how when someone wins, it's because of athletes, but when you lose it seems to be the coaches fault. Super first season Coach Tomlin. Don't let the big kids in the stands get you down.
  9. I have heard alot about the Qb/Rec camp at Hardin-Simmons. Most people say it is an excellent fundamental camp. Their Offensive Coordinator runs the camp. Heard that fundamentals are taught in the morning sessions and that the afternoons are more 7-on-7 games for evaluation. I also heard that the camp fills up pretty quick. Before I went to any camp I'd do my research. Usually if the camp has been around for a time period, it can be an indicator of how popular it is.
  10. Now that is what I call a true fan. Thank you. Good luck to both schools
  11. Please read my entire post before responding. I believe I said "constructive criticism." I also stated that your entitled to your opionion. I'm simply stating mine. Insert foot into mouth and close. Grow up!
  12. So I guess you two are brothers. I know what a true fan is. I do not recall bashing a team like you two. You are entitled to your own opinions, but I don't think bashing your own team constitutes a true fan. Maybe you have an axe to grind with someone or a disgruntled parent. I really don't have to lift a finger to prove my point, you two do all the work on your posts. Some people I think are foolish, but when they open their mouths it proves it beyond a doubt. Be a team player and offer constructive feedback to the team instead of bashing. With team supporters like you, who needs enemies. I just love Monday morning quarterbacks. They tell you whats wrong, but offer no solutions. Talk about agitators (stir that pot).
  13. I have read some of your comments regarding Whitehoue. You claim to be a supporter, but your comments tend to be more so on the negative side. Why is that? You should know that Whitehouse is very young and inexperienced, but you choose to criticize. I can only speculate that you are either not loyal or your a Sunday morning quaterback. On the field Whitehouse is 6 and 4 on paper they are 7 and 3. Why not support the young men who are out their trying their best to compete. They cannot help that they may not be as talented as some of the other teams. A true supported encourages his team. An agitator finds fault. Which one is it?
  14. This game will be a differnt story than the first addition. Kilgore's offensive line is pretty awesome. Add a good back like # 4, and I feel Kilgore will control the clock and the ball. Marshall is definitly athletic and can play with just about anyone, but it is difficult to beat a team twice in one year. Should be a good game. Good luck to both teams. Kilgore 24 Marshall 14.
  15. I was also at the game. While Whitehouse appears to be very young and inexperienced on defense, they were the second worst defense on the field. They did not give up 56 points. Now I have seen Henderson this year about 4 times, and they are a lot better than their record indicates. My suggestion to frogman is to either stick with baseball or radio commentary. When will the roar be restored? Whitehouse will clearly be the underdog, but that's why you play the game. You never know.
  16. I agree with the 1/4s schemes. Sometimes it is successful one year and not as successful the next. The problem I see with quarters across the formation is underneath coverage. Your pretty sound deep. Depending on schemes and how you teach LB/End drops, the curl route can present some problems. You lose Sam to the flat and that leaves the inside backer with curl responsibility. Sometimes a long way to go for the inside backer.
  17. If you run alot of man-to-man, be ready to banjo alot of routes especially with the amount of spread offenses out there. Personally I think it is dangerous to run it every down. Sometimes you have to be in some type of man concept when blitzing. Your secondary coach might get uptight with straight man. It helps if you get to the QB before he throws. You could get into some man underneath with safety help deep (man-free or man underneath with two safeties deep). Make sure they are throwing in this coverage because you are weak vs. the run in theory. With great athletes and good schemes you can gamble alittle. Teams like Carter or Waco have very athletic fronts and can make up for presumed weaknesses.
  18. As stated before I will try not to lower myself to your level.
  19. If I'm not mistaken Mavchamp, you were the one who made the comment about throwing a football game. Even if it was meant as a joke, I still think it was in bad taste (my opinion). As for my comment toward you, you are correct. I should have turned the other cheek and not insulted your call name. By doing that, that brings me down to a lower level. In the future I will try not to resort to unfriendly comments on opinions I do not agree with (whether joking or not). I do think you have some pretty good insight on sports, and I will try to react in a more adult fashion. Once again I feel I responded in an inapropriate manner, but I expect the same from others.
  20. Cheap shot Mavchump! How did your team do against Whitehouse the past two years in football?
  21. Whitehouse beat a very well coached team in Pearce. SOC presents a contrast to Pearce. Now I do not know if SOC is coached better than Pearce or not (have not seen them play). Teams like SOC, Lincoln, and others in the past have relied more on running the floor and beating you with superior athletic talent. The games I have seen in the past years tell me that a team like SOC is either hot or cold. If they are hot, they are almost unbeatable. Sound like they were on their game against Killeen. I like the match-up between Whitehouse and SOC. I like to think of the game as athleticism vs. discipline. Not to say that SOC is not disciplined, they may very well be, just basing this on past observations. As stated in an earlier post, as long as Whitehouse has one more point than SOC at the end of the game, I will be satisfied.
  22. True to a point, but how else can you compare the two? I guess that's why they play the game on a court instead of on paper.
  23. To me this is the first real test for Whitehouse. I hope they win. As long as Whitehouse has one more point than Pearce at the end of regulation, that's fine with me. I've seen Pearce play a couple of times this year and they are very well coached and disciplined in their schemes. They don't seem to panic when things aren't going their way. Peace is alot like Whitehouse with the exception of less height. They played HP pretty well in both contests, pretty good measuring stick to how well they play. Best of luck to Whitehouse on Tuesday.
