  1. Have to agree here. It will come down to the last couple of minutes. Although, that's what I thought about RB-L too. :hmm: But "swag" section or no "swag" section, it's gonna be a good game.
  2. I'm a member of the TJC Band (without a scholarship might I add) and it is the exact opposite of "a waste of time." So far in my three months being there my musical ability has grown tremendously, and I competed at the Area and State levels in high school. It is a great program to be involved with and to say that being a member is a "waste of time," would be an insult to everyone who is and has ever been a part of the program, not to mention the dedicated staff that makes everything happen. Along with all of those people, I am PROUD to be a part of the Apache Band. So you just need to get over whatever little thing it was that ticked you off, and have a little respect for the hard work and dedication of an excellent program.
  3. Pullin' for Arp. Should be a good game though.
  4. Probably a good idea. Don't some people make you want to :banghead: ?
  5. :whome: Nice. WR wins in a close one.
  6. Actually WR already had their first playoff game last night against Rosebud-Lott and won 42-6. I'm pulling for Harleton in this game, but best of luck to both teams! (Hope to see y'all next week.)
  7. :happy65: Wonder if that guy's any relation to MRDTOWN? There is a remarkable resemblence here... Anyway, Daingerfield wins big in this one. Best of luck!
  8. Oh... and ought to be a good game this Thursday. Definitely looking forward to it. I'll say Raiders 24-18.
  9. Have you heard the final in the TJC-Blinn game yet? Blinn won in a close one. 21-15.... sound familiar?
  10. Kudos. I remember reading about him during his brief existence. Didn't quite understand all of this post... which means it sounds just like 'buckWeat.' Anyway, best of luck to Daingerfield in the playoffs!
  11. Looking forward to this game. The Raider in me would love to see WR win. Have to agree with AR though. Stay injury-free and good luck!
  12. Great game Garrison... Raiders, don't let this get you down! Get focused on Troup and remember, one game at a time.
  13. Good game Garrison! Stay focused on one game at a time and don't let this one get you down Raiders.
  14. What tree did you fall out of?! It's clear to me now that you have never been to a 19AA game. And if 19AA was a weak district, then why are 4 out of the 6 teams in the top 20 for AA teams in Northeast Texas? And finally, WE GET IT! You want to see Arp and Daingerfield play, but it's not going to happen! :banghead:
  15. The teams in 19 AA could take on almost any one of these teams. Some more facts for ya... 2A T1. Arp (7-0) T1. Daingerfield (6-1) 3. Prairiland (7-0) 4. Caddo Mills (6-1) 5. West Rusk (6-0) 6. Paul Pewitt (5-2) 7. Lone Oak (6-1) 8. White Oak (6-1) 9. Corrigan-Camden (5-2) 10. Kerens (5-1) 11. Jefferson (4-3) 12. New Diana (5-1) 13. Harmony (5-2) 14. Harleton (5-2) 15. Frankston (4-3) 16. Edgewood (5-3) 17. Garrison (5-2) 18. Union Grove (5-2) 19. Hughes Springs (3-3) 20. Linden-Kildare (3-4) The teams in bold are in 19 AA. The teams in italics are the teams that my alma mater, West Rusk, has beaten so far that are ranked. The 19 AA teams here are ranked among the best in Northeast Texas. Saying that they are a weak district is completely underestimating the amount of talent and dedication in these football programs. I'd like to invite you, if you've never been, to a 19 AA football game. There you'll see exactly what I'm trying to tell you. No one in 19 AA is a push over and definitely, no one is "weak."
  16. First of all, I don't think you get the point I'm trying to make. These teams are ranked like this in this district. I'm saying that if Garrison, West Rusk, Frankston, and maybe even Troup were in any other district, they would be at the top of them. They are very good, talented teams and once again, are not a part of a weak district. 19 AA is one of the tougher districts in the state and always has been.
  17. Oh, and I pick Arp to win this one by the way.
  18. You need to get your facts straight. You put teams like Frankston, Garrison, WR, and Troup in almost any other 2A district, and they would be playoff-bound, if not District Champs. 19 2A is not a weak district. And as for the Arp/Daingerfield match up, as appealing as it sounds, I don't see it happening this year.
  19. Much respect to anyone who's ever been involved with DCI. If you've never been to a DCI competition, I'd encourage you to go. Impressive sounds and impeccable marching drills. They are definitely some of the ones that make it look easy. But it takes a lot of work, dedication, and talent to be a part of something like that. I can only hope that someday I'll have the oppurtunity to be in a DCI group.
  20. I am part of a marching band and I think anyone who says that its not as physically demanding as any sport, has never tried it and I'd be willing to bet that they would be the first person to quit. I agree that there is the lack of physical contact (in most cases) but there is much more to concentrate on than any other "sport." Like Lovin said, you have to focus on so many factors in marching and playing. With marching alone, you have to think about correct step size, stride, posture, rolling your feet through every step and sometimes even marching backwards, as in any corps style and even some military style bands. Then you have to add in the musical factor... You have to memorize the music, listen across the band for balance and intonation, know when to breath so that you don't breathe in the same places as anyone around you, and play at the right volumes and articulations at the right times so you don't stick out. As anyone can see, this clearly requires a certain amount of ability not only on the individual level, but also the team level, just like any other sport. And finally, for those who don't know, bands actually are judged on a rating system, and compete against other bands, just like some sports teams compete against other sports teams. With all of these similarities between marching band and other sports, I don't see how anyone could think that it's not a sport, unless, like I said earlier, they have never actually tried it. I guess what I'm trying to say is, yes, marching band should be considered a sport... (Open to any friendly argument. )
  21. The only 2A Ratings I could hear were WR, who got straight 1's for the first time in several years, and Arp and Frankston each with a 2. Does anyone have the rest of the 2A results?
  22. I'll say Raiders in a close one... as long as everyone stays focused. One game at a time.
