  1. Please do not post here. Please contact me. I do not check here as often as phone and email. Thanks.
  2. I have 2 Iron Mike MP6 pitching machines for sale. They retail around $4000 + shipping but I am asking $2500 for one with very little use and $2000 for the other with slightly more use. Both have been kept indoors and are 2-years old. They hold 600 baseballs and 400 softballs, can be easily adjusted for baseball or softball use, and come with a remote with an 80' cord. I have them at my baseball facility but give more lessons and throw live bp more than Iron Mike usage. These will go fast and are in great condition. You can contact me at [email protected] or call/ text at 936-240-9007.
  3. We are looking for fast pitch teams for age groups 14U and 17U for our select leagues. Right now I am not coaching any fast pitch teams. I will ask around and see if any of the teams are looking for girls. Thanks.

  4. Are you still looking for girls to play on the fast pitch softball team, 14 yr old?

  5. Still have room in boys 17U (high school) division and boys 14U (jr high) division. League will play 16 games on weekdays during the summer only. Games will be played around Nacogdoches and set to begin in June. League fees are $65 per player game baseballs provided. High school teams and travel teams welcome. This is a great league for high school players to compete together and travel teams to play between tournaments but space is limited. Contact us at [email protected] if you are interested or have any questions.
  6. Two new teams looking for 14U and 16U players to play summer ball and travel to two summer tournaments. The teams' coaches have coaching experience in the high school and college levels. Looking for players serious in improving and preparing for their high school seasons. More information forthcoming at paranormalbaseball.com. Please contact us at [email protected] if interested. Thanks.
  7. Nacogdoches' new baseball/ softball complex will be hosting a select baseball and softball league for the summer 2012. League games will be played at Woden High School and an additional location (to be determined) while the complex is being built. Leagues for 17U boys and girls and 14U boys and girls. For information check out ballparkinthepines.com or email us at [email protected].

  9. I know it isn't this way everywhere, there are the exceptions, but you have to earn the respect of the kids. If you show respect to the kids, they will respect you and everything that you do. Respect has to be earned no matter what your age. You can't just take a group and tell them they need to respect you. People don't just follow people who say they are a leader, you have to show that you are. Guide them in the direction that you want and need them to go... they will follow if you are stern and true to your word. If they follow, the parents will too. That is in a successful program or a bad one. If you get the kids on your side and they want to follow you, then you shouldn't have to worry about the parents. Football coaches will have 22 happy parents, basketball 5, and baseball 9. Everyone else will not like you. You have to understand that that's just being a coach.
  10. This should be a good game. Both teams are 7-1 in District 18 3A. I give Hudson the offense and jasper the pitching. Someone keep us updated; or at least the final.
  11. Gotta change the attitude of a program that isn't used to winning. It will take a couple of years, but you have to focus on the Sophmores and Freshmen, you hope the Juniors buy in, and just wait for the Seniors to graduate. Stick with your guns and make every player earn everything they want. You have to be able to take some losses for the sake of the program. The program will start to turn around in the first two years but you will see a big change in the third. For a new program, again, focus on attitude. You have to create the mental and physical direction that you want the program to take with everything that you do. Realize that the first year will be full of teaching the basics and stupid mistakes, but make sure you point out and cover each one often. You are gonna lose some games, but don't let anyone (students, faculty, coaches or players) get used to that. The good part of a new program is that there is no tradition, good nor bad. Players do not know what to expect so set the bar high early.
  12. OK, I lied, but didn't mean to. One more. With all the increase in media coverage and games on television, or for any other reason, anyone think that UIL will ever require coaches to only be coaches? Coaching duties without students during the day and coaching duties with students in the afternoon. Coaches could possibly raise money and keep the facilities and equipment in good shape during the day and coach the student-athletes after school. That is it, if not I will be writing for ever, ya'll know what kind of hours I have as a coach. Thanks again to everyone who posted.
  13. Those were great answers. Thank you very much. I don't think the answers would have quite been the same if I had started by saying that I have coached at the high school level for two years now and 4 years at the college level. I am working towards my Master's and am doing a paper on coaching. Wanted honest answers and got them... with the exception of a couple off topic, but got opinions. I agree that you have to love it and you get more than you can explain from seeing the young boys grow into young men. Watch them succeed and fail, and learn from everything athletics gives them. We are not in it for the money... that's for sure, but the hours do get rediculous. Final question (and please continue to post, I have another week of research): Why can't coaches just be coaches; start their day a little later and drop the stipends? Coaches have class everyday after 3. I'm too one sided on this need some other opinions. Thanks again to everyone who posted.
  14. Gotta couple of questions about high school athletics for a class I am taking. Please help me with this. Are all coaches required to teach a class? How many hours per week do most coaches work for like football, basketball, and baseball? What is an average stipend for coaches? My understanding: UIL allows 10 hours of practice time during the season, coaches must teach class for 8 hours per day, then attend all teacher inservices, must be certified in CPR, as a teacher and First Aid, and must run the program such as field maintenence, ordering equipment, putting up with parents, and scheduling games. On top of that they are paid what teachers are paid. Why does anyone want to do that? I need opinions from everyone please.
