Good luck to whoever it is! The days of having an abundance of 250 to 300lb linemen, and 4x100 track guys in the backfield are over with.Ā

They should have spread it out with several of those teams they have had over the past 20 years or so.Ā

My opinion, but I've watched the local small schools closely for a long time. Most of them have dropped way off or are dropping.Ā

My junior and senior year I was the second largest lineman we had. I was 5'10 223 my Sr year.Ā

That's the thing about Daniel Swaim you don't have to see him or his name. But he lives rent free in your head like the boogey man. But only if the boogey man was a the greatest football coach to live and also gets ripped off when he tries to buy a golf cart.Ā

    What? Lmao

Seeing how that movie was set in Virginia, Iā€™m guessing Groveton, Texas probably wasnā€™t the team portrayed. In addition, that Groveton wore black and gold uniforms, whereas the Groveton, Texas Indians wear red and white. However, the Groveton Virginia team had a nose guard that was meaner than a copperhead snake. Tru storie!Ā

You want to purposely reduce your coach search down to one man or only a Joaquin alum?

In my opinion, thatā€™s not the wisest choice JISD can make in this situation.

A coach does not have to have graduated from Joaquin in order to understand how important J football is to that community.

Do you want someone from within so you can keep the / a run heavy offense intact?

    Ā

Yeah after thinking about it I'm not married to that opinion anymore. Idk in my head this is a "built by us" thing. But Wayne Gandy wasn't from here and if it wasn't for him joaquin wouldn't have won 20 games in the last 20 years. Idk how I feel right now to be honest.Ā

This job belongs to Patrick Gandy! Heā€™s been there the longest out of anybody on the staff and has continually improved the defense every year and maintains good relationships with all the kids, but MJ will screw this up Iā€™m sure.

Of anyone can wreck that Lamborghini over there it's Mid Johnson.Ā

On the spitting issue. Ā Once the official on the sideline learned of the incident, he should have went over to the head official and had a conversation like they do on intentional grounding calls. Ā Iā€™m pretty sure the head official could have called up for a booth review.Ā
Number 11 should have been ejected and a fifteen yard mark off should have happened. Ā
Spitting on someone intentionally is worst than targeting and taking a swing at someone. Ā Ā

    Ā

Definitely. My grandfather told me when I was 4 or 5 "If I ever hear about you spitting on someone or taking a man's hat off his head I'll disown you. I'd rather you kill someone." 25 years later I've never spat on someone or touched a man's hat (I think he meant cowboy hats but just to be safe I've treated caps the same)

I wanna believe the same but I watched Franklin almost 3-peat today running the Slot T .

I just feel like the stars have never aligned at the right time . Size with no speed then speed with no size, etc . Ā  And I agree about the offense with the more recent teams . Ā The year we had the legit 4x100 track team would have been fun to watch in the spread .Ā
Maybe one day the stars will alignĀ

I'm about to say something and it's gonna hurt some feelings. The issue is alot of Joaquin kids are soft. They're not willing to do what guys did even 3-4 years ago. Lack of a mean streak. The 2022 team had it. And they're the only ones since 2019

I'll say something about it. #11 did something out of character, He's a good kid and ovarall good person. First time I've ever seen something like that from him. He's a coaches kid as his dad is the head football coach for TVCC. So I'm sure his dad will say something on top of whatever else Driskell will do. Don't think Driskell will let it go, just because of winning state.

Ahhhh... I should probably keep my mouth shut but I won't. Spitting on someone is not "out of character" that's not something "good kids" do. Spitting on someone is one of the foulest displays of disrespect you can perform. That wouldn't cross the mind of a "good kid".
