Tough gig. Like other schools in the area I think they are making a mistake moving on from a guy thats tied to the area and would likely be there for the long haul. They will be on their 4th coach in 5 years. Of their last 10 coaches only 2 coaches have stayed long enough to coach a class from their freshmen through senior year. Tough to grow success.
Town is drying up. Its tough to find schools around you that you can compete with and beat in pre district. District you're fighting for 4th at best.
Hiring coaches is a nightmare. Pay is atrocious as in some of the lowest in the state. Live in the middle of nowhere or commute. Work hard to not be very good at anything. The AD that hires you will likely be gone in 2 years.
Moving on from the guy - the guy who had no guys powerlifting this year and the one who doesn’t believe in school colors ??

Not a fan of Refugio, but them being 14 - 1 and ranked 20th is a head scratcher.

In the baseball standings, how does the district get 28 wins but only 26 defeats ?

Carthage Bulldogs 12-7-2 & 6-1 in district.
Nice win tonight

Doomie…….Would you trade Dak and his $50,000,000+ salary for a top 6 draft pick in this years draft - to get a QB ?

I timed it from the video, which is a close estimate…..10.20

HS has always been the baseball school since I can remember.
The last 20-25 years, yes……Before that, for about 25-30 years going back to around 1970, another local school was dominate.

Better for both teams not to play. PG wants people thinking they could beat T-high (maybe they could some years) T-High wants to remain the big guy in town that wouldn't be beat by the other schools. Yes i wish all 4 schools played each other but i understand why they don't.
Probably be a better chance that T High would consider it if P G’s visitor side held twice as many people.

Why did the coach, admin, and/or the Ladyjack players elect to not play in a postseason basketball tournament ??

North Carolina State wins 5 games in 5 days - impressive

I don’t understand the disconnect.
Pleasant Grove is playing Daingerfield in predistrict the next two seasons.
I am saying that Pleasant Grove should be playing Texas High instead of a 3AD2 school. Which would result in a close game for Texas High.
Probably 99% of the people who read your first statement understood what you were saying.

Why are you so anti Mazi? All the draft pundits had him highly rated because of his strength.
He was drafted weighing around 330 and played his rookie year around 300……….As far as the NFL goes, unless he drastically improves his burst off the ball and technique, he won’t last many years at 300……At 330 he will/would/could be good at plugging a gap/requiring a double team.

The Speed Demons did have a guy run 10.97 at their last meet……not terrible

First time poster in this topic but am i the only one that is so overjoyed at the aggressive moves the Cowboys have made thus far? I mean re-signing the long snapper was incredible.....
Over pay, restructure contracts, over pay, restructure contracts, etc, etc…….at some point it bites a team in the privates.

Wood Hollow in Longview is probably my favorite course in East Texas because a lot of the holes set up really well for me ... I shot an even par round there the first time I played there in the early 90s .... We used to mostly play from the blue tees back in those days .... I haven't played there in a few years since I moved back home to Garrison .... Where is Tempest? ....
Tempest has a Gladewater address…..pretty close to Interstate 20.
-
It has become easier(not easy) in recent years as more courses are having 4 or 5 sets of tees or at least senior tees…….and of course the easier the course, the easier to shoot your age - Tempest versus Woodhollow is a big difference in the Longview area.

kam would be running the 100 if he was under 11 seconds. But we see he isn’t running it so
Back around 1995, Atlanta had a guy who could break 11 in the 100, who won state in the 800.

Wonder what Atlanta looks like
If you are talking track and field, Atlanta competed in the Watty Meyers meet at Texas High and had several good times/events but none that were outstanding.

Jeffy and Tatum won’t be having near as many guys make it to regionals in track this spring……year of the Roughnecks.

If 2 adults go to a club and both drink 4 beers in an hour and then decide to head to an out-of-town football game………When 10 minutes into the trip, the driver says to his passenger, “there is a four-way stop coming up but I am going to drive 90 MPH thru it so we can get there faster”……..They hit a vehicle going thru the stop sign at 90 MPH with a 16 year licensed driver, who had come to a complete stop and started thru the intersection legally, and a 16 year old passenger……..All four walk away with only minor injuries……Drunk driver and drunk passenger both tell the police they knew a stop sign was there but they were going to speed thru it anyway.
Since the 16 year olds walked away, the drunk driver should get nothing but a speeding ticket, correct ?

L-K for 50+ years has been blue and white…..football team had an all black uniform in 2023……saw several pictures of him at school, where he more than likely knew his picture was going to be taken that particular day, and he would have black and brown/tan clothes on with no blue or white…….Jerry Bennett was not a hometown L-K guy, but Jerry was proud to wear blue and white clothing while employed by L-K(just an example).
Clothing color does not make a person bad, by no means…..not saying he is not a good guy…….But never seen John King at Longview, Scott Surratt at Carthage, or Jeff Taylor when he was at Gilmer wear clothes not in line with their school.
