  1. Due to wet field conditions, Game 1 moved to Friday 7:30 at Driller. Game 2 at 2:00 Saturday with a 3rd game if necessary to follow.
  2. Central Heights 12-0 Woodville 10-2 Hemphill 7-5 and Corrigan 7-5 Woden 4-8 San Augustine 2-10 Newton 0-12
  3. I've been hearing mid supplemental round pick, which is about 1 round higher than after his senior yr.
  4. I hit the streets with a business degree years ago. Took a low-paying job. Did some time, moved up the ladder trying to go from salesman to salesmanager to vp of marketing to pres to ceo. Decided to change companies when a position opened up. Wait a minute. I think that happens in every profession. Coaching, sales, nursing, etc etc. So to say that the coaching profession is any different is to be misinformed. The main difference is probably school boards the vendettas/agendas that some members have.
  5. I feel like I'm watching a soccer match. zzzzzzzzzzzz
  6. I have over 25 years experience (1/4 century) in predicting the UIL re-alignments. If you would like to know where your school will be a month in advance, then just sent $10 in American currency** to: Swami Sez PO Box 1234 Nacogdoches, TX 75964 **plus $5 processing fee
  7. Laneville won Friday's matchup. Cayuga defeated Laneville in the championship game on Saturday.
  8. Google Madison college mississippi. Hilarious stuff. I wonder if they offer character education there.
  9. I just ordered my phd from mississippi. In a few weeks, I will be known as Dr. BlueMan, or maybe "the smoaky member formerly known as BlueMan"
  10. This is the revised version. Was changed after three students in question were caught. At least one other athlete was punished by the 1 year rule for 1st offense.
  11. These were not the first students to be punished under the 1 year suspension rule. One of the reasons why there is such an uproar.
  12. Another time to throw to first base would be on a 3-2 pitch that the batter checks his swing on that gets away from the catcher. Batter is not sure if he went around or not, so he sprints to first to beat the throw. Catcher throws down late as batter crosses 1st base. 1st baseman can tag batter out if, on appeal, the rule is no swing and ball 4. Never seen it happen, but it could. I teach my catcher that, but it hasn't come up in 20 years.
  13. I was interested in the interference call because I thought it was interference regardless of the count. When the umpires didn't initially call it, I thought hmmm... I never knew that. After searching the rule book, I could not find where it says it is not interference if it is on ball four, so I guess they got the call right in the end because the batter obviously walked in front of the catcher attempting to make a throw. Why should the catcher throw down anyway? That's another question. I don't like my catcher to throw down on an obvious ball four because of the risk of a throwing error, but a couple of things could happen that warrant it. Runner who is safe overslides 2nd base on ball four can be tagged out because the rule says runner (or batter) is entitled to next base but not past it. Also, if ball four is called and catcher throws down, the 2nd base umpire is making his call and not waiting on the home call. So, if 2nd base ump calls the stealing runner out on ball 4, then it is the runner's responsibility to make sure it was ball 4. If runner thinks he is out and vacates 2nd base, he then can be re-tagged and called out.
