  1. I had been out of the mix the last few days with work and all. I wanted to congratulate the Carthage team and wish them luck on La Grange. I was expecting you to have more fans show up but with weather it was understandable. I have family that lives in Lorena and went to a game earlier this season and it surprised me at how loud and supportive the fans were. After that I became an adopted Lorena Fan and have gone to every game since :). When I played ball our fans were supportive but not like that. Lorena has some crazy fans. There were two guys in the freezing cold with out shirts and their bodies painted red running with the flags. As far as the game is concerned Lorena came out just like I thought they would and made a statement early by being the first to draw blood. For the most part they hung in there with Carthage score for score until the 4th quarter. When I saw the onside kick I thought that it was a win win for Carthage. Carthage was able to score on most if not all of their drives in the second half. So if they got the ball back chances are if there was enough time they could score. Lorena was eating up a lot of clock with their drives and had they kicked it deep Lorena may have either tied it up or gone for two. Lorena wasn't able to fully take advantage of the turnovers and that blocked field goal attempt was crucial. I wouldn't say the weather played that much of a role as both teams were playing under the same conditions. Carthage has some nice plays and although I was on the opposing side I admired some of the play execution. I thought Lorena would Mix it up a little but I am a fan on the side line and the coach is the coach lol. Good luck Carthage on your game this week and hopefully you are on your way to another state title. I hope our paths cross again next season :notworthy:
  2. I was impressed with the fact that Kimbo did not rush in and start slinging bombs and get caught. Not the best fight I have seen. It seemed Houston was content on just kicking the weak knee. I think Kimbo is improving and it will be interesting to see who they match him up with next. I agree his ground game still needs a lot of work but I guess we just have to see how this all plays out.
  3. I think Carthage was a little surprised at how Lorena played last week. It will not happen this week. Even though I was rooting for Lorena as I have all year, I enjoyed watching Carthage play. They had a good mix of the run game and passing game. They have some nice passing plays that get them in the end zone or good yardage. Thier line makes nice holes for the ball carrier to run through for easy first downs. I feel bad for La Grange playing against Carthage this week. I think that they may come into this game with intentions of making up for their last performance. They can hit you through the air or on the ground. There will be no surprises this week and I predict Carthage will be ready for anything that La Grange will bring to the table. Carthage by 21 or 24 points. Good luck to both teams.
  4. Lol I like the part about Chin Straps
  5. I agree this happened with a few instate rivalry games. When pride and bragging rights are on the line it isn't just an ordinary game :) I am sure the horns will have another blow out. Just not sure who will take the Gators / Crimson Tide game...
  6. Yeah I hope so too. I think Rashad will get to confident in his hands and Silva will KO him like he did his boy Sardine
  7. Houston doesn't have that great of a ground game either. The only thing he has as far as ground game is his brutal gnp. However, I see this one standing. It's just a matter of who touches who's chin first :)
  8. oh boy thanks for the laugh..Is that the home or away uniform?
  9. This should be a good game. Gilmer for the W
  10. I am not taunting anybody just posting thoughts on a game. Sure I am new to the site but my intention is not to taunt or criticize anyone. I have much respect for the Carthage ball club and it's fans and I mean no disrespect in my prediction.
  11. Yeah I just saw on noaa.gov. weather.com had clear I'll stick with noaa.gov :)
  12. Oh man that would stink. Not to many fights I want to see him at in SF :( I believe Silva is Fighting Belfort. Nate Marquardt and Hendo should mix it up to see who is after Belfort. Anybody hear about the Couture and Coleman at UFC 109 ha-ha
  13. I believe the fight is also at a catch-weight of 215lbs. This one could be quick sombody is going to sleep
  14. just my two cents... I would hardly call MMA two neanderthals bashing each others heads in. A lot of MMA fighter have college degrees and are quite intelligent people. No disrespect to boxing (I enjoy watching both by the way) but MMA is more versatile as there are different ways to win and there are more areas as to where the fight can go. MMA does not only involve boxing, you have jujitsu, muay thai, kickboxing, judo, sambo, and a ton of other combat or martial arts. MMA is still a young sport and it will take time for people to get used to it or accept it like boxing. I would hardly call the fighters in the sport no talent. There is a lot of work that goes into preparing for a fight. Fighters invest a lot of time and effort into preparing for a fight. Maybe one day you will change your mind, maybe you won't....
  15. yup too bad that would have been a good fight! Thiago Silva VS Evans is a nice consolation prize though :)
  16. ha-ha nice burn. However, one I don't do drugs and two i don't play for that team. :)
  17. Lol ok how about Lorena by 40 points does that do it for ya :) ha just kidding. Easy there take it easy I was just stating my thoughts on what the score might be. Strange maybe, unlikely possibly, dumb not really. I think i am being reasonable that should Lorena win, 3 - 6 points is not outrageous. On another note not that it really affects the game it should be pretty cold Friday night bring your coats folks! Enjoy the game!
  18. Yes the show they did at the Center game was great!
  19. I wouldn't sleep on Lorena I think they are the dark horse in this bracket. The last 3 games they have been picked to lose and this week it is no different. I'm picking Lorena for the upset of the night by 3 - 6 points. If Carthage is coming into the game thinking about putting in the second string, they may be surprised. Sure Carthage steamrolled Lorena last year, however win or lose I feel Carthage will see Lorena as a worthy adversary as the game goes on. Snapping a 26 game win streak from the big, fast, tough, defending champs is definitely a tall task for any team. Lorena definitely has their hands full in this one. However, the Lorena defense seems to hold up when it counts and it just takes a big defensive play to get them going. During the first two playoff games the offense had a few key mistakes that they seemed to iron out in the last game. Ward is definitely one of thier top players but surely is not all that this team has. It's hard to get this far in the playoffs by just having one player that does it all. Good luck to both teams my hat's off to all of the teams and players that made it to the playoffs. Thanks to these athletes for giving us exciting and entertaining games to enjoy under the lights!
