  1. Bevo's veterinarians are almost certainly Aggie graduates. Kansas St, Olka St, and Iowa St also have veterinary schools, but the vast majority of vets in Texas are TAMU-trained.
  2. Vegas has A&M (UR) as a 3pt favorite over ASU (16), possibly because the game will be played in Houston? Preseason polls obviously don't mean much.
  3. The Flint Brookshires on 155 has it.
  4. I wouldn't bet against Geno Auriemma winning 7 in a row....or more.
  5. Tennessee apparently appreciates Rick Barnes more than Texas did. Are the horns missing something? Or do the vols have inside info on some hidden talent?
  6. Randy Rogers just said on Fox Sports SW that Malik Jefferson has committed to UT.
  7. ESPN says #3 WR Christian Kirk has committed to A&M. I thought he was going to ASU, but apparently not so. Sumlin must have flown the helicopter out to Arizona to reel him in.
  8. JT cornerbacks Warren and Williams both have the cover skills to neutralize a great receiver like Newsome, especially if they get some help from a safety. Lufkin had a pretty fair tandem set of receivers and the Lion pass defense--while not shutting them completely down--at least played them to a draw. I'm betting that Aledo hasn't played against a better group of ball hawks than what they'll see Saturday. The Ft Worth paper is saying that Aledo may be getting back their injured starting RB this week. With two great backs like Anders and Isaiah ?, the JT D-Line will have to be on their toes.
  9. I believe it is spelled FUTBOL, but I might be mistaken. Just trying to keep you guys from jumping off the ledge, or getting a migraine at the very least....
  10. Notre Dame beat Texas Friday night. Then today, A&M beat Notre Dame to advance to the Elite Eight. That's what happens when you play like a bunch of girls....
  11. I subscribe to the DMN and have Wednesday's article still. Sherrington says, in a nutshell, that such a matchup would be a huge money-maker and fans from both sides would fill the stadium to capacity. But Sherrington adds that both UT and A&M are so afraid of the damage a loss would cause to their programs that each school is hesitant to play the game. Furthermore, the SEC has veto power over any game their members may play, and may not approve such a match-up. Ultimately, as it always does, money will prevail. Nothing else even competes. I think I can smell Jerry Jones sniffing around here somewhere.....if not this year, maybe next year.
  12. The weatherman is calling for an 80% chance of rain Friday night in Rockwall. I don't like that; it will partially negate Cujo's skill and speed. Geo and Jeremy will need to take care of the ball first and foremost, avoiding mistakes and turnovers. Hopefully, the JT defense will create some turnovers themselves against Summit's ball handlers. The Lions are track men, not mud wrestlers, IMO. I wonder if the Rockwall field is natural or artificial?
  13. Before we get overcome by irrational exuberance, the Cowboys are just one injury away from mediocrity. Romo, Murray, and Dez must stay healthy. Maybe even McClain as well. If they lose any one of those three or four, they're back to 8-8 and irrelevance. I'm beginning to like the O-Line though.....
  14. Without doubt, it was one of the finest weekends of college football I've seen in many a year, despite both Ags and Horns losing.
  15. I watched the game and the video replays that showed clearly his deliberate behavior. This guy looks like the second coming of Ndamukong Suh......or Conrad Dobler, for those of you from a different generation.
  16. That 29-yr old OC down at A&M, Jake Spavital, is a whiz kid and a master recruiter as well. Sumlin won't be able to keep him long because he's already head coach material. SMU ought to look at him pretty hard or someone else will snatch him up...... Shame about June Jones, a class act.
  17. I see that Kenny Hill just got named SEC Offensive Player of the Week. Not too bad for your first start.......
  18. Time for the horns to move on. David, we hardly knew ye.
  19. It's fine to give a guy a second chance since we're all only human, but I'm unsure about third and fourth chances. I'm guessing Stoops will have this bad apple on the shortest leash ever.....like ONE STRIKE AND YOU'RE OUT. That said, I hope the kid turns it around. From his stats and his NFL body, he looks like a one year player for the Sooners to me.....then he'll declare for the pros.
  20. JT vs Ennis could be good. When and where will the game take place?
  21. The Horns lost Texas because Mack crapped his pants in developing talent. The recruits that A&M are getting now used to go to Texas.....5-star Parade All-Americans at every position. But Brown couldn't--or wouldn't--coach them up. Not ONE Texas player was drafted by the NFL this year! Meanwhile, Art Briles is turning 2 and 3 star recruits into All-Americans. Even Kevin Sumlin was able to take Mike Sherman's players and make them better. If you were a great high school player with NFL aspirations, where would you go? Waco? CS? Even Lubbock? Right now, Austin is a pariah, a black hole where recruits disappear forever. If Coach Strong will devote some time coaching up his players, Texas can easily rebound, especially considering all the tradition and money they have. Mack evidently spent more time hob-knobbing with the UT alums than he did on the practice field. It's certainly NOT a reach to say that UT won in spite of MB, not because of MB. Now that he's rightfully been put out to pasture, there is some glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
  22. I know the guy who bought that sign space. He works at my brother's engineering firm. And he is an Aggie grad in engineering. Obviously, he is excited about Sumlin, Kyle Field, the SEC, and the Ag's other-world recruiting success. It is NOT a Manziel or Loggins family thing.
  23. I wonder what the acceptance rate is for TAMU's Veterinary School, which is the hardest professional program to enter in the state? A few years back, my niece applied to vet school with a 4.0 GPA and a background of FFA, horse shows, Houston Fat Stock Show, and summer employment with a local vet. She wasn't accepted. But she applied again the next year--successfully--and recently graduated 3rd in her class of 128. She's now practicing in Pearland. So when you talk about acceptance rate, we should take a little salt with the figures. I understand A&M now has the largest single-campus enrollment in the state. When a school is crowding 55,000 students nowadays, it's not to hard to project a full Kyle Field packed with standing Aggies.
  24. Hopefully, these guys will land on their feet at a junior college or Div II school. Maybe they'll mature a bit, get a degree, get a shot at the NFL. The odds are against them, I think. Looks like prison time and two wasted lives to me, just like so many others like them. I hope I'm proven wrong.
