  1. This was a picture I took right after kickoff between Lorena/Lago Vista 2 years ago at Georgetown. Little difficult to tell, but all the lights you see were cars trying to get in the stadium. As you can see, there are a ton of open seats on the Lorena (home side) and Lago Vista (visitors) has one of the worst traveling fan bases in this area.
  2. Don't get me wrong, this may be one of the most well-attended games throughout all of the 3A DI playoffs. Cameron/Rockdale was simply a once in a lifetime type of occurrence. The place literally ran out of food before the game even kicked off. The stadium was pretty much at capacity. I hope this game has a similar feel as it should be a classic.
  3. The game will be played in Georgetown. One thing is for sure, you better show up fairly early unless you want to miss the kickoff. Cameron/Rockdale in 2014 was a complete disaster from an operational standpoint from Georgetown ISD. This game is not going to draw nearly as many people as that game, but even the Lorena/Lago Vista game two years ago had cars backed up trying to get in as the ball was being kicked off.
  4. As far as these games go: I do think Franklin beats Academy by a similar margin to their first meeting. Academy simply does not have the personel up front defensively to compete with the top tier teams in the state and this region. The Lorena/Columbus game could be a classic. The complete body of work from both teams would lead you to say that Columbus should be favored, but I think this game is going to come down to the wire regardless.
  5. Interesting. I know Thanksgiving can be hectic with stadiums. Selfishly, Waco ISD at 12:00 would have been nice.
  6. Any particular reason Academy and Franklin is being played in Tomball? I'm going to Columbus/Lorena regardless, but that is an interesting spot for that game.
  7. Hitchcock is simply a sloppy football team. Skill talent only goes so far. Congrats to the Bees on the major "upset".
  8. I would say this would impact Hitchcock more than anyone if the conditions are bad enough. Line play and running between the tackles is not Hitchcock's strength.
  9. Lorena by 17 Franklin by 21 Hitchcock by 21 Columbus by 28+ My plan is to be at the Academy/Hitchcock & Rockdale/Columbus games this week.
  10. I actually thought that Franklin didn't play their best game last night, but in the end it did not matter. The Yoemen are a soft football team and there is really no other way to put it. When we were playing a winning brand of football, we would relish playing power rushing offenses because we had the beef, physicality, and a sense of pride of what it took to be a winner. Now, if we don't win we just quit, as 2 more varsity players did after the Rockdale game. That is a losers mentality. Be a WINNER.

  12. Franklin losing to Lorena was not a total shock, but still a surprise. Wake up calls are sometimes needed, and maybe this was the time for it. The wheels have fallen off the bus in Cameron, Tx. I once again give the Rockdale coaching staff credit. This is not their most talented team ever, but they are getting the most out of what they're working with and the kids play hard. Academy can score but does not have the defense to make a run.
  13. Franklin by 14 Cameron Yoe by 10 Academy by 28 Franklin may have "flipped" the switch a bit last week by throttling Troy, but we will see how they perform in what will be the district championship with Lorena. Cameron continues to struggle on defense and has major issues up front, but has offensive playmakers to put up points. Rockdale lost to Lorena, but continues to play the better teams in the district close. I give that coaching staff a lot of credit, as I believe they are doing more with less.

  15. Loss for words on tonight. One interesting tidbit from the Yoe/Academy game.....Cameron received 3 dead ball unsportsmanlike penalties, so Academy kicked off to Cameron from the Cameron 15. Now, had Cameron gotten a 4th unsportsmanlike penalty, it would have been the 7.5 yard line. Would the options for Academy be kick the ball, say, 5 yards and receive a penalty for the ball not traveling 10 yards?

  17. There is no question. They are way down in every aspect of the game. It was 45-0 at half. Assume they pulled starters.
  18. Definitely surprised to see Franklin only score 25. I was not overly impressed with Academy last night. I would say their team from a few years ago was more complete. I was impressed from what I saw from Hitchcock today. They just steamrolled Salado up and down the field like they were playing a JV team. I would say they certainly have the best skill talent in 3A. We will see if they have enough up front to match up and beat people like Franklin and Columbus when it matters the most.
  19. I believe Franklin outscored Rockdale's JH, 77-6. Both Cameron's and Rockdale's sub-varsity programs are not having great years. I know Cameron's football program as a whole is 2-19-1. With Lorena & Academy of the verge of moving up, this could be Franklin's district to dominate for a while. Troy does have better upcoming talent.
  20. Franklin by what they choose Lorena by 3 Troy by 17
  21. Yoakum is good, but is certainly beatable if you show up to play. Brutal bi-district matchups regardless. The games between those 3 will be something to watch. Hallettsville does not appear to be all that bad themselves.
  22. No surprises. I believe Academy beat Troy , 49-21. Big game with Academy next week in Lorena. Have the Bees finally taken that next step and ready to beat someone like the Leopards? I could definitely see it happening. Lorena getting Porter back will be important. He has not played lately. Cameron struggles mightily on the defensive side of the football. The RB for Lorena nearly matched his season total in rushing yards (4 games) in one game last night. If you're the Yoemen, you should probably be rooting for the Bees next week. You do not want to finish 3rd/4th in the district this year.
