  1. So were the racial comments heard by someone other Hemphill players or fans? Did the Woden players admit they made the comments? In just reading a few of the comments appears Woden is getting blasted for their conduct but it appears we are only hearing one side of the story.
  2. I am sure the athletes love getting to play at ATT stadium but from where I live, I will never drive to DFW and watch games. Houston NRG is a better location for me.
  3. I remember my JH days of lining up for 1 on 1 tackling drills. When you got close to the front of the line you started looking at the opposite side and seeing who you were going up against. Then you had to figure out how to let the guy behind you go ahead if there was someone you didn't want to go up against. My football career never amounted to much.
  4. Did they play any games in Carthage? I know they usually have a pretty good turn out for this but with the rain did any games get played?
  5. Just curious was Tommy Brashear's dad named Bill Brashear who coached in Lufkin a few years back in the 70s.
  6. I could not disagree with you more. I sat on the Cartage side for the Silsbee game this year and it was not enjoyable. There was absolutely no one that was humble around me. For all the trash talking towards Silsbee that night I wonder what would be said if those 2 schools played on the hardwood.
  7. I have a general question about Carthage; specifically their defense. I watched the game Friday night against Silsbee with it being my first and probably only time to see Carthage this year. From my vantage point 30 rows up from the field and looking through a pair of 55+ old eyes the defensive front line did not look very large (heavy). They looked very fast but not physically very large. My question is has anyone tried to play smash mouth football with them? Trying to just run between the tackles and gird the clock out. I guess if they did it didn't work as they are undefeated. Just wondered if it had been tried and if anyone had any success at it.
  8. I don't know how many coaches have been "run off" and how many have left on their own. I believe most left Huntington because they chose to. Everyone wants someone to stay and build a program but you have to find a coach who wants to stay and build a program. I am sure they all say they will stay around in the interview but after 2 to 3 years of losing they start looking for a way out. Must coaches don't want a 5 to 7 year tradition of losing on their resume.
  9. Supt. at Livingston knows the rules as he was at Diboll where they had a similar situation (exactly the same as Lufkin). I would think he corrected the problem once it was brought to his attention. Lufkin; well......
  10. Heard Jacksonville beat Grapeland 6-1 and lost to Carthage 3-1. Teams only played 1 hour. Any score on the Grapeland Carthage game?
  11. Heard it from a college coach. May have only happened one time but it did happen. Just trying to say that being recruited doesn't mean a full ride. D1 schools only have 12 athletic scholarships to give out and they have to allocate them as they see fit. Most are partials with the hope that they get some academic or other scholarships to help out.
  12. The term D1 covers a very wide range. There is D1 Oklahoma and there's D1 Arkansas Pine Bluff (they were last in RPI). Everyone else is somewhere in between but their all D1s. That covers a large range of talent. There is also an offer from a D1 but how much is it. I have heard of as low as 2%. That is a scholarship at a D1 so mom and dad can boost that their DD got a scholarship from a D1 school; granted it only paid for their parking permit but hey it was $$.
  13. Whatever level Huntington was at the time; 3A or 4A. I believe it was around 2010.
  14. That "midget" you are talking about I believe was a runner up at the state championship in power lifting.
  15. The first sentence in the initial article from the LDN says Lufkin ISD confirms they turned in faulty numbers to UIL. Not someone accusing them but that Lufkin ISD said they did. Now a high ranking administrator says no we didn't. Why did they admit it to begin with?
  16. So UIL says if you don't receive any State funding you don't have to report? I don't think UIL really cares about State funding. According to what I have read on here UIL says you have to report students at an alternative school, period. It has been mentioned several times that many schools are doing this and have been for years. If you get state funding or not would not matter to UIL. What if you only get partial funding for the students say because of a special need. Do you know only count half of them? And I also find it hard to believe that LISD has never reported this type of students for state funding. Talk about a large amount of lost revenue. I know they get reports on students from Lufkin Hudson, the fiscal agent for Stubblefield Learning Center, showing the number of students and such. Lufkin Hudson then in turns bills them for their number of students. So LISD has just been forking over this money and not getting any in return. Talk about some major mismanagement.
  17. One would think that the UIL would have taken action quickly. Can't believe they let the baseball and softball teams compete after the news was out. Will be embarrassing if Lufkin softball wins a regional championship or possibly a state title and then it gets taken away from them.
  18. Lufkin Hudson and Diboll have students in Stubblefield Learning Center as well; did they count them? Huntington counts its Pride School students, their alternative school, and they cannot participate as well. Nacogdoches County has the Boys Ranch and those students are counted. Counting alternative schools students has been around for at least the 10 years that I know of. Livingston was punished albeit probation.
  19. Again, why is the attorney involved? What are they going to do, sue UIL? Where is the Supt? She is in charge.
  20. Softball playoffs start tomorrow; baseball next week. UIL doesn't seem to be in any hurry.
  21. I think Livingston turned themselves in. I may be wrong on that but at least it was discovered before games had been played. Lufkin played almost all their games and events for 2 years except maybe a couple of baseball games. Got to be some form of strong penalty in my opinion otherwise it will continue.
  22. Part of the problem is Lufkin did not count the students at the Stubblefield Learning Center. The Stubblefield location did not just come about; been around for years. So why did they not count those students in 2013 and then again in 2015 before they realized their error? Nothing changed that I am aware of. I would guess that Diboll counted their students there as well as Lufkin Hudson (I think they send students there as well). Huntington has been counting their Pride school students as years. I know KTRE was trying to find out more info regarding this and I believe no one could come up to the 2088 students that Lufkin originally report. It was not just the Stubblefield students (and the other alternative school location that I can't remember) that were missing.
  23. Why is school attorney giving information regarding this? Where is an Supt.? An administrator? This is not a legal matter or issue. Someone is attempting to hide!! They are already saying it was turned in by a "former administrator."
  24. Saw on Twitter that Fedora has announced he is leaving
  25. After this is all over, I would curious to know how much money this cost Troup ISD in legal fees and such. I am sure a public information request for copies of the legal bills would answer that. I would also guess that if the Coach wins he would not want to stay at Troup and coach. So I would guess there would be a buyout of some sort on his contract which is more dollars. School Board is really looking out for the kids in the District by being good stewards of their money.
