  1. Buddy Ray is a heck of a football coach. Not sure what is going on in New Boston but I am sure those guys didn't just forget football all of a sudden.
  2. I know it won't do much good, but I figured since Henderson is getting turf, I would at least say something about the Tomato Bowl. For those not in Jacksonville, I am sure you can list the many problems facing the tomato bowl. Some can not be fixed. For Instance, Parking just will never be more available, With it being built right in town, there is just no fixing that. Biggest things I think need improved, kind of by rank. Home/Visitor/Ref Dressing rooms are horrible. They need to completely knock that building down and build a new one. Doesn't have to be nice, doesn't have to be anything special. Just a nice big room with a few benches, CLEAN RESTROOMS THAT WORK, and air conditioning unit in all rooms along with a heater. I think it is a shame anyone has to get dressed in that place. Fan Bathrooms. The fan bathrooms are almost as bad as the ones used in the locker room. They need redone, some fresh paint, and cleaned. On the home side, the large concrete steps are steep, and almost too much for a lot of people to handle. I would love to see a boarded box placed to make the stepping easier on the old folks. Also I think it be great if the reserved section saw some improvements to the seating. I like turf, I think everyone does. In some ways I feel the grass is in great shape and should just keep it that way. However I think most kids and coaches want to play on turf. Also it can save money in the long run, and maybe just maybe we can host a few 2a games a year if we had it. Anyways, thanks for listening to an old man gripe.
  3. I think the excitement level here hasn't been this high in a long time. I don't believe we will see the turn around next year, but with a little help from realignment, I believe after this upcoming season Jacksonville could return to being very competitive. I think that is what most of us in town are looking for....just being in the playoffs is a good place to start.
  4. The Barbay that is at Coldspring is who I am talking about, got the first name wrong I guess.
  5. 1 Chapel Hill - Bringing back a lot and look for them to improve 2 Henderson - I think they will figure the QB thing out, and will still have the athletes 3 Carthage - They could be as high as 1 but not sure if I trust them yet or not. 4 Kilgore - They are down but not enough to let the bottom feeders close. 5 Palestine - I think they will have slight improvement over the previous head coach but not enough to compete 6 Brownsboro - Not enough athletes to compete, struggling to find talent
  6. Idk what exactly will happen. Jacksonville last time turned in around 1150 I believe. Whoever the new coach is.....If I were them, I would make a HUGE push to try and get that number as low as possible. Jacksonville in 2009 and the 2010 seasons went 7-4 and 7-4. One year a first round loss to Texas High 22-20, the next year a 56-52 loss to Sulphur Springs. Outside of those two years, you really have to go back all the way t 2004 to find another Jacksonville team that had a successful year. Since 2010....there has been very very few positives.
  7. John Tyler will win it. Ennis will take 2nd. Nac Lufkin Corsicana Whitehouse battling it out for two spots. Lindale and Jacksonville struggling to win a district game.
  8. The names I have heard Wayne Coleman assistant head coach Gilmer Darrell Barbay head coach Coldspring Oakhurst Jason Wheeler head coach Sharyland
  9. So how good can Center be? They started a lot of soph.
  10. They should do everything they can to bring in the hometown guy not too far away up 19
  11. Brown out after one year....who will they go after?
  12. Waskom going to drop off big time? Pitt have the money to lure people in?
  13. Saw the topic about best teams......who are the normally good teams that will probably crash and burn? Jacksonville went 0-10 in 13......4-6 in 14.... I think 0-10 is coming again.
  14. I have heard 3 what I would call "big names". Waskom head coach Teneha head coach McFarland
  15. Gilmer has been in some high population games lately because they were at lobo....most casual fans and neutral fans won't be going to this one.
  16. I think this is a horrible matchup for Atlanta. Gladewater had a good counter to what Gilmer likes to do. They ran the ball extremely well, controlled the clock, and picked up a ton of 3rd and 4th downs on the ground. Atlanta will be able to run the ball, but they are not the type of team to sit on the clock and try and drain out a victory. I could see Atlanta scoring in the 40's.....I just think with how fast they play, and not being able to keep Gilmer off the ball will kill them in the end. I see it like this Gilmer 56 Atlanta 42
