  1. Cameron is the clear favorite, I don't care who moves in to where or from. QB is the real deal and their coaches put them in position to succeed in other areas. They have the skill, physicality, returning starters, and coaching staff to be the clear-cut favorite right now. I thought they might lose a step after Rhoades' exit, but I'm almost convinced they might've upgraded with the job Brashear did in year 1. Teams like Malakoff, Teague, and Rockdale are going to have to be balanced on offense and not 1-dimensional to defeat the Yoe and play almost a perfect game. Yoe's alignment and technique on the O and D lines along with will to win is going to be hard to beat this season. Not saying it can't or won't be done, but 1 kid is not going to be the difference in beating them.
  2. Franklin has benefited from several move-ins for the past 5-6 years. Looks like they adding a couple of more pieces.
  3. Temple is correct. Don't know a time but it looks like Wildcat Stadium is confirmed. I remember watching Mart/Lexington play there in '06 and always wanted to see Teague play a playoff game there and look who it is the Yoemen from Cameron, the match up I've waited 11 long months for. I feel like Cameron have prevented my Lions to win back to back state championships and I wouldn't want to face anyone else up till this point. All I'm going to say is, I hope Cameron isn't worried about Rockdake because the only team on the Teague Lions' 'mind is Yoe. This game is going to be a battle just like it's been the last 2 seasons. Yoe has plenty of fire power and Teague does as well. I think it will boil down to whoever plays better D and special teams play. Hurry up Friday
  4. back to the post, I look for district 9 to prove it's a better district than 10 when it's all said and done with Teague and Malakoff in the regional final. I believe their both more complete teams than Cameron and Rockdale. Like I said ready to see how these next few weeks play out
  5. Like I said y'all have had some ballers from way back to now, I'm not giving Rhoades all the credit, but when you talk state championships, talent only takes you so far and Randy Sapp had a great run at Cameron but there was just a few programs in 2A and 3A during that era that had just as much if not more talent and just as good coaches. I'm not discrediting his tenure at Cameron by any means either. Ready to see how these next few weeks play out for several schools.
  6. And another thing. Speaking of Jerry Malone, I'll go on record saying not only did Marlin collectively have more talent over those years but Coach Malone was a better Coach than Sapp on top of having better talent. Again. Just my opinion
  7. Billy Pittman was a stud but no way any of those Cameron teams beat Marlin or Mart in '98, '99, '00, '01 or '02 or Celina for that matter. In '02 Eric Foreman of Corrigan Camden was a better HS QB than Pittman. Corrigan Camden would've rolled Cameron. Pittman and Cameron would've beat Mart in '02 I'll give them that but not sure about Marlin. Thad Freeman was just as good and he also had D-1 Richardson and Wrighter who both went to Arkansas and the other 15-20 plus kids Coach Jerry Malone help get scholarships over 5-6 year span. Pittman was the better College player I'll give him credit there but Texas tried playing Foreman at LB. He was a big kid but never was going to be a LB Texas wanted out there every Saturday. I'll give you '96, I got highlight film of Mexia and Cameron was salty that year because they rolled Mexia who was pretty ded gum loaded themselves in '96. I'll give you credit for 2 state titles in last 20 years with out Rhoades. I still think you discredit the product he put on the field with the hand he was dealt. The never quit mindset and the adjustments he made throughout a game were what I think put Cameron over the top and the target on their back for the last 5-6 years
  8. If anyone from Cameron thinks Teague wouldn't love another go around with the Yoe, y'all are crazier than I thought. Not looking ahead but the Lions aren't scared. Y'all have had our number last 2 years, I'll give y'all that. Losing to Malakoff in the fashion the Lions did a couple of weeks ago was the best thing to happen to this team. Not saying they can't be beat because everyone can be beat obviously, but I don't see us losing the way we have against Malakoff this season and Cameron past 2 years.
  9. This is one helluva first round match up. Not many first round games come to life these days with 4 teams going but this is one should be a dogfight. 2 very physical football teams that respect each other but no bones about it these 2 schools don't like each other at the same time. I feel like both teams have great O-lines and front sevens. Teague O-line is going to have to be consistent and relentless to win this match up. Teague's front seven matches up well with Franklin's O-line but defensively Teague will need to play sound and disciplined football to stop Franklin's ground game for 4 quarters. As long as they play assignment football against the misdirection, bootlegs, and option keeper, Teague should win by 2 touchdowns. If Franklin's front seven gives Teague's O-line fits, it could be a long night but if that does happen they got 3 kids they will have to cut loose and hope to big play Franklin to win. With all that said, I like Teague's chances this Friday night against a solid and well ran program. Teague- 28 Franklin- 13
  10. Great final 3 and 1/2 minutes from Malakoff. Goal-line stand even though I thought I saw ball cross the plane that's not what was called and Malakoff went 99 yards and earned the win. I like how Teague matches up with Franklin
  11. You are one of the more delusional and moronic posters on this whole site. You talk like you're in the know around all these schools that have baggage or have had baggage over the years and all you do is contradict yourself on things you have said over the years and that's really what's funny. I've seen where you've talked about how Teague has had some specimens and hosses come through and they should have a state championship by now but then you say coaches that have been there that are one of the underrated coaches in the state. Which one is it? Oh wait, you coached at Buffalo. I guess that explains everything slick
  12. Malakoff- (7-0) (4-0) Teague- (6-1) (4-0) West- (3-4) (3-1) Elkhart- (4-3) (2-2) Groesbeck- (3-4) (2-2) Whitney- (2-5) (1-3) Eustace- (3-4) (0-4) Westwood- (1-6) (0-4) This week's games- Malakoff at West Groesbeck at Teague Whitney at Elkhart Eustace at Westwood Malakoff and Teague both will be challenged by West and Groesbeck. Malakoff will pull away from West in 4th quarter and I see Teague edging Groesbeck out by a touchdown. Elkhart could struggle with Whitney but I see Elkhart edging that one out. Whitney freshman QB is a player. I look for Eustace and Westwood being a tight game with Eustace finding a way late.
  13. Teague 49 Whitney 13 West 32 Groesbeck 26 Malakoff 46 Westwood 14 Elkhart 34 Eustace 24
  14. I stand corrected. I said Yoe was the team to beat in region 3 and really didn't think a 3A school could put 60 on Yoe's D much less 80. Wow. Congrats to Rockdale on their big win
  15. In my opinion Andress makes the Yoe O more dynamic than what they were with Smitherman and that's no knock to him he was a calm, cool, collective QB but Andress gives them more of the element Reid Nickerson gave them in 2014. He may not be as fast as Nickerson was but I still believe Yoe is still the team to beat in region 3 I will say I questioned their QB play and from what I've seen in highlights I am impressed also. Yoe D will be the same sound unit they've been and as long as they get offensive production, I really don't see anyone beating them
  16. This is a very accurate assessment but got players capable of making plays and creating space, they just got to get in a better rythum offensively. Lost top receiver #2 Davis for the year but got to get more creative on the offensive side of the ball because the defense can take them to where they need to get if they can get some consistency on offense. Teague's defense is a complete unit and can't wait to see how they fare against the passing attacks of Malakoff, Groesbeck, and Whitney. The DB's are well coached and have the personnel to match up with the Malakoff's and the Yoe's so I'm ready to see them tested because if they make a statement in those district match ups that tells me their defense still could carry them to another deep run in the playoffs and challenge anyone
  17. China Spring has too much fire power offensively and always play good defense. Not to say Yoe doesn't have the same to match it but I feel like China Spring is ahead of most teams going into week 3 of the season. Cameron has had two convincing wins but if they have areas that can be exploited and are a little banged up, Mark Bell will put his two top horses in position to execute and they can go. Yoe will play them tough and I see it being a physical game but this China Spring team is complete and hungry after last year's loss in the playoffs to rival La Vega. CS- 49 Cameron- 31
  18. These 2 match ups will determine tonight's game- Jaylon Gipson and Mexia receivers vs Teague's secondary. Teague O-line vs Mexia's front seven.
  19. I don't know about several years but I do know the same Teague beat Mexia 3 out of the 4 years you played high school ball big boy. Can't speak for the years Mexia didn't want to play after '03 because we were a 2-A or because we ran the wing-T for a few of those years, I forget which excuse has been used more throughout the years. You were a good player and Mexia has had some good teams. Mexia is still the same Mexia as they were when you played. A basketball school. Good luck to both teams Friday night.
  20. +1 you don't replace a Ryan Mitchell and company overnight but I agree 100%, once the chemistry clicks, look out for them big corn fed boys from Teague
  21. I can't wait to hear you're B/S excuses when you see the O-line next year. These kids have been waiting eagerly the last 2 seasons behind the Studs that graduated who they've gone against in practice the last 2 seasons and their all upcoming juniors with the exception of Richey. Remember the names- Williams (6'2 225) Maggard (6'2 255), Cooper (6'3 245), Harper (6'1 220), and Richey (5'10 215). It will be a case of reload, not re-build. QUOTE that. Ole Slappy's happy continues for ole Teague
  22. Lmao in my Eddie Murphy voice "SOFTTT"
  23. And why everyone is talkin bout' Malakoff and Teague, my sleeper to win district is West. Don't count out the Trojans. Return their O and D lines and defense is very physical. Will have to replace some talented skilled players but football games are won in the trenches and West brings back a very physical and expierenced bunch. Don't count out Groesbeck either. Steve Hale will have the Goats ready to go as well and their QB has a big arm despite questionable decision making. Westwood will be competitive. Should be a fun district
  24. I'll just say it, Cameron overlooked y'all. They weren't worried about y'all. They saw game film. Malakoff does have speed and explosiveness but as a unit y'all were SOFT. Cameron knew going into the Teague game it was going to be a dogfight and not that the Malakoff and Cameron game wasn't , they got caught overlooking y'all and caught themselves before it was too late. The Miller kid has real deal potential and has showed glimpses. Let's see him stay healthy before we go ahead and crown y'all District Champs
