  1. Gladewater has an ex Longview assistant head coach who was also the defense coordinator who is a great coach. I look for this team to approve on both sides of the ball. They are going to surprise some people.
  2. Longview will need to speed up. They seemed a step slow. I really think before the year is out we will see the better players playing both sides of the ball. I think the QB did good but has to realize the offensive line has not jelled yet, so standing in the pocket for any length of time is not an option. But all and all this helped Longview. I am not sure if they are ready for a JT or Lufkin. They are going to have to speed up to match up with JT.
  3. What a discussion! Based upon 7 pages and counting, the Marshall - Longview rivalry will continue for years to come. But the passing of time always bring change. Just don't know what the change will be. I had the pleasure of taking my daughter to UNT on Sunday to start her freshman year. She stated to me in different words that UNT did not have a good football team. I proceded to tell her she was now an EAGLE and should not say such about her team. Having fans that will cheer for you whether the team is bad or good, helps the team to believe in themselves and play harder. I can remember the years when Longview did not have a winning program, but I still went to every game (true fan). Does that give away my age.... haha! I picked Longview to win against Marshall (just my opinion, my opinion doesn't count in the grand scheme of things). I do think on any given day any team can win or lose. OU did not think Boise ST was going to be beat them. But Boise did not have any such thought in their minds. They had fun and brought out every trick in the book. The expectation to lose had been establish by everyone else except them. They had nothing to lose but everything to win. If Marshall realizes this Longview better bring if. Sometimes it is not about stats or talent, but execution of that one play/hit that changes the dynamics of a game. Route for your team. Best Wishes to Marshall and Longview ! Go Lobos! I know what I said does not spark conversation, nor does it put anyone on edge, it does not cause anyones blood to boil or become tempermental. But I wanted to say something so I did. Have fun everyday!
  4. Lion-70 the way you talk about Longview, you would make a person think you are envious of Longview. I am glad you have something to be proud of. And don't worry no matter what you say a true LOBO is a LOBO4LIFE (Win or Lose). JT will be 0 - 2 against Lufkin and Longview this year. Stay up baby boy!
  5. Marshall is one of my favorite teams. It will be tough to win in Longview this year. 35 - 10 .
  6. It almost sounds like MAX Prep tried to take a page out of the BCS rankings.
  7. Longview continues to put them in a hole when the offense cannot move the ball down the field and score. Longview should by now know how to approach a game with the defense playing 7 to 8 men in the box. Play calling has to improve. This lost is squarely on the shoulders of the Coach. Every defense knows when #7 is in the game 9 times out of 10 he is going to get the ball. When he is not in the game 9 times out of 10 the QB is run the ball. Longview need a high percentage pass play out of the "I". If they are going to be in the shotgun, instead of a 1 back set, have a 2 back set on each side of the QB. The worst thing Longview does is make them one dimensional. I am just saying what I observe base upon attending all the games and what I know about the team. I am just a fan and not a coach. I have not idea what I am saying. Longview moved #17 to running back from QB and will not give him the ball. Why did they do this? Image a 6'1 200lb QB who has been successful at this position not able to contribute to the team beyond blocking for running backs and special teams. It makes you go HUM! By the way, I am not related to #17. I have had the privilege of being an advocate fan of Longview over the years. When I see something that is blatantly obvious, it makes you go HUM!
  8. Desoto will have a crowd. I live there for 20 + years after leaving longview. The atmosphere at the time was much like Longview. The band was krunk. That was then. But this is now! Longview: Fan Base everywhere they go -- Impressive! Chartered Buses everywhere they go -- Impressive! High School Stadium -- Impressive! (The only high school where the players enter the field from a tunnel like College and Pros. May not have a ring, but everybody know who Longview is -- Impressive! Go Lobos Go!
  9. I am taking Longview in this one. Defensive adjustments will be key. I was not impressed with the defensive scheme against the skeeters and not keeping the pressure on. Longview 45 Horn 17
  10. On any given day anyone can win anyone can lose. When you have a team like Longview minus the turnovers and penalties the out come of the games they played would be different. I look for the tide to turn and some things start going Longviews way. We already know Lukfin is good, what has yet to be proved is how good is Longview. Or better yet, how good will they play Friday night. Go Lobos!
  11. I was there at the Marshall vs Longview game. My take away was Longview needed some work. After watching the JT vs Longview game, Longview is not playing to it's strength. If Longview continues down this path they may win 3 games. What I saw was a very one dimensional team. The starting QB should go back to WR. It would take 2 CB's to cover him. Then # 11 would have one on one coverage. You now have to cover the Tight End # 88. This would spread the defense and open up the running game. This would only work if the JV QB from last year #17 was the starting QB. I am not taking anyting away from #10, I think he is going to be a great QB. But he was the Freshman QB last year and does not have enough experience to carry the team. If the coach want to use this year a rebuilding year so be it (3 games max). Otherwise the coach ought the play who he knows to be the best QB #17, but will not because the coach would have to leave his ego in the office. That's my 2 cents, which isn't worth a plug nickel. But that is what forums are all about, providing the vehicle for anyone to express themselves right or wrong. I am a lobo for life fan. I have not missed a lobo game since the 1999. I have been to them all win or lose. GO Lobos! JT do your thing in 4A. I am routing for you. :highfive:
