  1. I believe this is wrong. I am from the old school...grad. of '66. Practiced without water...made you tough. 3 yards & a cloud of dust. You played hurt...had both knees operated on mult. times with one replaced because of it. The Army today is much better in every aspect..including arm tackeling...in the old days, we speared you with the helment. Todays athalete is in much better condition, game smart, etc.
  2. Ankle has healed & he is in great shape. From what I hear, the Bucs are looking good. I have no idea how Traylor & Co. continue to put together the teams they do.
  3. In Upshur County we have: Gilmer New Diana Ore City Union Hill Harmony Big Sandy Union Grove Gladewater Pittsburg and a population of ~50k...which ones do you eleminate? Asthe school goes, so does the community...West Mountain, East Mountain...I could go on
  4. Good Grief!!….got to give credit where credit is due. Carthage & Daingerfield What about Cayuga?
  5. I got an email from the Buckeye Booster Club for "help in the concession stand on Saturday, May 22nd for the 7-0n-7 Tournament". Is it starting? What gives? I am soooooo ready!!! :happy65: :woohoo: :bounce:
  6. Since Traylor arrived in Gilmer, 2000 season, Tatum 1('00), Buckeyes 7 (they didn't face each other in '02 & '05), a cumulative of 332-183. Prior to Traylor, the Bucs (7 wins) & Eagles (5 wins) first game was in 1986. In '03, they played Regional (35-27) & '04 Quarter Final (60-35).
  7. TheOldCoach.com The Nike Training Camp on the campus of TCU is always one of the more anticipated events of the off-season circuit and Sunday's event didn't disappoint as over 200 of the top players from several states came together to put on quite a show. A relative unkown Gilmer's Gus Johnson earned MVP honors for the running backs showing great burst, good size and quick feet Dwight Smith's replacement has been found.
  8. After getting the talk @ the coffee shop, I think you are right.
  9. Looks like the DoubleT Offense (Turner & Traylor) as of now...but Traylor Senior may throw in a wild card.
  10. Stump shares his best 20 plays of the year:
  11. I think we will introduce the dual threat offense with two coache's sons...the Double T
  12. Saw one live last night...the thing is huge. It is an awesome sight.
  13. It was very nice. Michael Irvin gave a great motivational speech. Wish they had left the stuff out for an after-the-show look.
  14. Just a clarification...2010/11...Gilmer 628, Bullard 594...not a lot of difference in size
  15. Gilmer could have beaten Longview last year! :whip:
  16. From Longview News Journal ARLINGTON — Gilmer quarterback Darian Godfrey added another trophy to a growing list on Saturday when he was named the Built Ford Tough Class 3A Texas High School Player of the Year. Godfrey received the honor at the annual Built Ford Tough Player of the Year banquet held at Cowboys Stadium. The award is co-sponsored by Ford and the Dallas Cowboys. Top players were named in six divisions on Saturday, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A and private schools. Those players came from a list of 10 Players of the Week named in each division throughout the 2009 high school football season. Godfrey earned Class 3A player of the week honors in September following Gilmer's 70-27 win over Kilgore. In that game, Godfrey completed 25 of 28 passes for 384 yards and four touchdowns — completing passes to 11 different receivers — while rushing for 47 yards and three touchdowns. For the season, Godfrey completed 254 of 357 passes for 3,581 yards with 42 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 848 yards and 22 scores, leading the Buckeyes to the Class 3A Division I state championship. Godfrey was Class 3A Player of the Year on the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Team, the Associated Press Sports Editor's All-State Team and was the offensive MVP on the Longview News-Journal's All-East Texas Football Team. The Buckeye quarterback signed with New Mexico in February. Other Player of the Year honorees were: Class 5A — Jeremy Johnson, John Tyler; Class 4A — Scotty Young, Denton Ryan; Class 2A — Nate Jeffery, Caddo Mills; and Class 1A — Traylon Shead, Cayuga. Looks like a sweep for East Texas
  17. I take exception to "the coaching on the 8th grade level isn't top notch". In any good program, top notch coaching starts earlier than 8th grade and dreaming of the day they will be on a state champion team. By the time they reach the 8th grade in our area, they are running the same plays as the big boys. See avatar if there are questions.
