I don't doubt Marty's coaching ability, but you can only do with what you have and Hawkins does not have it. Maybe if they have a lot of kids to move in they may have a chance, but not likely....... And moving up to 2A is only going to make it more difficult. I wish it was the place it used to be....... But I don't see it happening.

Sadly for him, I doubt the hawks will ever be back on track. That place is drying up fast

Here is my two cents. I am a graduate of Hawkins and its not what it used to be. That's why I moved my family from there. Both my children are athletic and Hawkins has zero to offer. With that said, I don't blame the coaches...... They can only do with what they got! Hawkins itself is drowning. The community gives zero support, yet they are the first to blame a coach or teacher etc. the kids are lazy and if they don't get to play the position they think they should play or want to play then they quit. Or the parents throw their butt in the air and make their kid quit. It's not getting any better and I do not foresee it getting better. Too many people with their own agenda and how they think things should run. Hawkins will never win a state championship in any sport........ those days of having a chance to are loooong gone. best of luck to whomever takes the job, but like the rest they will find out you can't change what does not want change. I do not see the athletic program ever becoming more than what it is today..... And stepping up to 2A is only going to make it worse.

I've coached several years if you combine Baseball and Football.The parents that start the most trouble are the ones who: 1) never volunteer anything especially their time 2) either have to have help paying their entry fee or gripe if they do have the money(even if rich) 3)usually have the absolute sweetest kid you could imagine 4)never say thank you for nothing i absolutely agree with this! my husband has coached both baseball and football for 5 years and i think you nailed it!

VERY proud of the coach!!! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: kids (and parents) who think they can not be replaced..... or that a team can not make it without them drives me crazy!! no one person makes or breaks a team..... it takes eveyone of them doing their job. stick to your decision coach!!

i am so glad you posted this!! my son (#31 McCartney) plays for Lindale and has since the 1st grade. he is in 5th this year..... we are very proud to be apart of an awesome organization!!

giving a shout out to the HAWKINS and OVERTON 9-10 All-Stars playing in the Dixie State tournament in Liberty right now! HAWKINS and OVERTON were CO-DISTRICT CHAMPS in the district 4 tournament in New London and are now in Liberty playing in the State tournament. GREAT JOB by BOTH teams representing EAST TEXAS!!

we had a round robin tball tour scheduled for this weekend in Hawkins to prepare for the allstar tour. two team have dropped out at the last minute. are there any teams out there that would like to play in this tour this friday and saturday? one game will be played on friday night, two on saturday! please let me know asap if you are interested!!
