  1. Hey CSMahaffey, Why don't you calm down a bit! It is the fans of Spring Hill that I am referring to that expect to get a victory every game, no matter who it might be! We played real close to several teams last year that came down to just inches or a costly penalty that cost us a game, so we feel that if can get rid of those mistakes, the outcome will be different, that's all I'm saying! Understand what I'm saying before you go off on some ridiculous rant. Out of the other replies on this topic, you seem to be the only one throwing everything out of context, so please be respectful in your comments.
  2. I agree with you on your pick! I think that Athens will be too much for the Panthers! SH will keep it close for about two quarters, but then Athens will wear them down on both sides of the ball. I hope that SH wins, but Athens has too much depth and too much talent on their team!
  3. @ CSMahaffey, That was last year, and this is a new year! Yes, Gladewater did win last year, and they are returning a lot of key players, but so is Spring Hill. As for the polls, they don't mean a thing except for the ones giving the poll, so we'll see what happens! I have a lot of respect for Gladewater and I truly hope that "Da Bears" go far this year!
  4. If Spring Hill doesn't come out of the gates at full speed, Athens will run away with this game in no time at all! SH quarterback Dylan Brown needs to relax in the pocket and allow his receivers to get in position to catch any passes in their area. Also, the O-line needs to keep him protected the whole play and quit letting the defense get anywhere near him. SH has a really tough schedule and four teams on the schedule used to be Class 4A teams (Lindale, Athens, Carthage, and Henderson). When you add Gilmer, Pittsburg, and New Boston, whom the Panthers have never faced before as well, it is going to be a very long year for the Panthers. We are expected to beat White Oak and Gladewater, but we'll see how that goes.
  5. Athens plays at SH this Friday night, and it will be the first time these two have ever met on the football field. The Hornets played really well last week, while the Panthers fell short to a great Lindale team. September 3rd, 2010 7:30pm Athens vs Spring Hill Panther Stadium
  6. HI BeatNavy, I heard about what happened at the Longview-Marshall game last night, but I am not real clear as to who started the altercation. What I heard from other fans at a game I was at stated that the Marshall side started the fight because of being frustrated by the way Longview was playing and what they were getting away with by the refs. If you could fill in the blanks, please do, because I would love to know how it all it went down.
  7. Congratulations to Lindale on a great game! Both teams played well and showed a lot of class! Final Score: Lindale-44 Spring Hill-27
  8. One thing about Gladewater.....often imitated, but never duplicated! Gladewater is, and always will be the original "G-Town"! I hope that "Da Bears" clobber the Buckeyes this year!
  9. I am getting a kick out of everyone not voting for Spring Hill and Gladewater! Are you serious about your selections? Are you kidding me? Some of you have chosen your picks with some sort of intelligence, but please people, Gladewater and Spring Hill are going to shock a lot of you so-called doubters out there, and I can't wait to read your responses come Saturday morning. If they do lose, then I will admit that Lindale and Canton were the better team, but at least I have faith in these two teams!
  10. Tatum played very well against Spring Hill and Mount Pleasant! As I stated before, I expect Tatum to go all the way this year, because they are that good of a team! I'm not sure if they'll go DI or DII, but either way, Class 2A better get ready for the Eagle Express!
  11. Sorry rickybobby81, it ain't happenin'! Lindale is good, but don't count SH out in this game! Everyone said the same thing last year, and look what happened.....Lindale got their tails whipped!
  12. Spring Hill has a new coach this year (Bill Poe from Southlake Carroll), and we have a game against Lindale next Friday at Eagle Stadium. Spring Hill @ Lindale 7:30pm Prediction: Spring Hill - 31 Lindale - 21 GO PANTHERS!!!!
  13. I am going with Spring Hill in this game! SH won last years game, and with a much improved offensive and defensive line, added with a new head coach with enthusiasm, I look for the Panthers to make some noise this season. A scrimmage is a scrimmage, but come next Friday night, it's time to get it on!
  14. I am still curious as to how Coach Poe will utilize the style of offense at Spring Hill as he did at Southlake Carroll. I have seen the Dragons play under this offense against Euless Trinity, LD Bell, and Grapevine, and they had tremendous size and speed to run it effectively, so I am hoping that Spring Hill can do the same. Watching Riley Dodge under center was great to see at SLC, and I strongly believe that Dylan Brown will do just as good at SH.
  15. Spring Hill takes on Quitman Thursday night in what should be a pretty good contest. After watching them against Tatum and Mount Pleasant, I think they will do pretty good!
  16. I used to live in the DFW Metroplex, and what most people do when deciding on games to watch is, why travel 2 plus hours to see one game when there are about a dozen more within miles of each other, and just as good to watch.
  17. Prayers from Spring Hill!! Do we know the name of the individual that passed away on her way back to Mount Pleasant?
  18. I disagree with 8-2! I strongly believe that Longview will go 9-1, with that one loss coming to Abilene. I think that Lufkin will give the Lobos a good game, but in the end, it will be Longview coming out on top.
  19. I was at the Mount Pleasant/Tatum/Spring Hill scrimmage yesterday, and I agree that SH and Tatum showed really good things on both sides of the ball. However, MP needs a lot of work and has a long season in front of them. Out of the three teams, I believe that Tatum proved to be the stronger team. They are a scrappy group of kids that know how to play the game very well. If Tatum can stay healthy, I think they will go far in the playoffs....and maybe win state. Spring Hill looked promising, and I think that if they get their momentum rolling, they could possibly surprise a lot of teams.
  20. For some reason, I have always been intrigued with the Gilmer Buckeyes and the Gladewater Bears rivalry. The Battle of 271 has always been a great game to see, no matter what's at stake. Here are my top five favorite rivalries of old and the present: 1) Spring Hill vs White Oak 2) Gilmer vs Gladewater 3) Daingerfield vs Jefferson 4) Longview vs Pine Tree 5) Tyler Lee vs John Tyler
  21. It has nothing to do with how good SH is or isn't! These two schools are less than 2 miles from each other, and for some reason, they don't play each other. Pine Tree plays several 3A teams every year, such as Pleasant Grove, Gilmer, and Gladewater, but never Spring Hill. We have scrimmaged against them, but that's it.
  22. Well, as usual, the LNJ forgot about the Spring Hill-White Oak showdown. This has always been one of the best games to be played in East Texas, and it always will be! I'll put this backyard rivalry up against any other rivalry around! One day, the coaches at Pine Tree need to step up to the plate and start a backyard series with Spring Hill, but they always opt out for some strange reason!
  23. The Spring Hill Panthers have a scrimmage against Mount Pleasant on August 14th, and then against Quitman the following week! Should be competitive in both games!
  24. Yes VEER, You are correct! We had the opportunity to beat White Oak in the closing minutes of the game, but the QB (Brown) threw an interception, and the 'Necks went on to win the game! WO deserved that win. Pretty good memory!
