  1. I agreed with you that is on the western side of the city limits...but its the NORTHwestern side of the city limits. I grew up in North Tyler, went to Boulter. Kinfolk lived right behind JT. All of Tyler Square went to Boulter and everybody in the Square claimed Northside. And you know the Square is right across the street from JT. Everbody that lived behind JT claim North Tyler too. NW Tyler is North Tyler. I'm just telling you as northsider who was over that way what everybody over there claim. It is what it is. When you start getting pass Whataburger on the loop is where everbody start claiming west.
  2. I agree with all of this, except JT being in West Tyler. Yes, JT is on the western side of the city limits, but its still in North Tyler. Westside really don't start until you past Erwin/Hwy 64.
  3. yea, I think Non district should end in ties. You don't want anyone getting hurt on a meaningless 5 OT non district game, plus with the heat this time of yr, it really ain't worth it.
  4. it was close, I need to see it from a goal line angle, but it kinda look like he got in.
  5. I saw last yr and this yr game. regardless of the score you can clearly see improvement by both teams. Jt run defense is much better than is was last yr. No way any Jt team over the past 5 yrs stop a team 3 times from the 2 yard line. I think Marshall is much better too. I can't wait to see them and Texas High for district. I almost wish it was the late 80s and early 90s and the game ended in a tie. Both teams played their hearts out. Glad Cujo got the W, but Marshall will be ok.
  6. Nah...we talk about the zones when they winning too...lol. I believe Tyler ISD is the only multiple high school district in East Texas. (I'm talking actual high schools and not alternative or early college type schools). That dynamic is a huge factor and being apart of that, you get a good understanding of it. But enrollment is a huge factor too, so you aren't wrong for bringing it up. I think what Von was saying is that between JT and Marshall, there really isn't an enrollment advantage if you actually break down the numbers. But that can be said for many schools. By the way, I was one of the ones who thought Marshall had a chance to win last yr and I don't see how that could be different this yr. But I hope JT proves me wrong...LOL.
  7. JT enrollment is misleading. Out of the 2100 students, 1400 are Hispanic. I think I counted 20-25 Hispanics total from freshman to Varsity. I think Marshall will be ok regardless of the outcome. This game is more about JT.
  8. In a way, everybody is correct. JT does have 2 feeders just like Lee. Problem is that Moore is like 80-85% Hispanic. And we know Hispanics don't come out in large numbers for footbal. So, really JT gets like 80% of their players from Boulter. Sometimes Moore gives them a little more. McFall and Zach come from Moore, so did the Hampton kid thats at Daingerfield. Lee has always had more students and more kids in football. Its just how it is and how they drew the lines. Its pretty evident the lines don't really favor JT from an athletics standpoint. But like Von said, most of the best football kids come from Boulter, so that keeps JT in the ball game for now.
  9. I had no issue with them not doing 7 on 7. I like Woods demeanor, reminds of Coach Rush. A few yrs a go, JT scrimmage Dallas Jesuit. It was an extremely lopsided affair. JT dominated. JT barely made playoffs and got blown out in first round in 5a div.1. Jesuit went 4 rounds deep in 6a and beat defending champion Longview in second round. So who knows.. I believe scrimmages can give some insight, but sometimes it doesn't tell the full story. Either way, I hope you are right, and since you are there, I can't say your are wrong. I just need more proof.
  10. One good season doesn't mean you have arrived. Who knows, Terrell could go 4 rounds deep this yr. I'm not saying JT hasn't got better, but I will hold off on saying it until I see it in a real game. Over the past few yrs I thought they brought back enough to be very good and didn't do much. And its year 1 of new coach. Hopefully Woods will be Thomas Brooks.
  11. I agree, they were a good opponent for JT. I just don't believe Terrell is a strong enough team to judge if JT has improved or not, especially in a scrimmage setting. I am rooting for Coach Woods and I am hearing alot of good things. I wasn't trying to insult your analysis, but I guess the past few years have made me a skeptic. Last yr, they returned 95% of the starters and they got worse. I guess I need to see it to believe it.
  12. oh boy....I hope you right. I got to see it to believe it
  13. lets not over hype this. Terrell ain't a major program and its just a scrimmage. I hope they have improved, but next week will tell the bigger story.
  14. actually Byrd and Shreve use Lee Hedges as their home/main field. But yea its bad for schools. Caddo needs to build another stadium but it won't happen as long as Indy is available.
  15. saw they got a couple transfers from Tyler High.
  16. one of the main stadiums that the Shreveport schools use will not be available this yr because of repair and remodeling, so most of the games were moved to Independence Stadium and a couple other venues. Not sure if there was going to be a Battle of the Border anyway, but this probably makes it more unlikely.
  17. Man so the guy with the long nfl career don't make list...Chris Ivory. He must have been a late bloomer. I don't see Isiah Stoker either.
