  1. I’ve always heard there are 2 kinds of coaches . . . Those that have been fired and those that will be fired.
  2. Gilmer held Bellville to 77 yards in the 2nd half including just 8 in the 4th quarter. https://www.uiltexas.org/files/athletics/state-football/boxscores/Gilmer_28_-_Bellville_26.pdf
  3. Gilmer’s DEFENSE of all things and Will Henderson was the major difference in this game! Outside of the 3 big plays allowed in the 1st half Bellville was able to do little vs the Buckeye defense. Bellville’s offense was only able to gain 77 yards in the 2nd half after gaining 282 in the 1st half. And Will Henderson capped off what might have been the greatest season ever for any Buckeye player with another 250+ yard performance. Will is a special young man and an exceptional athlete. I’m glad he was on our team! A interesting note, last week, Bellville stopped a Wimberly 2-point conversion to win the game, this week Gilmer stops a Bellville 2-point conversion to essentially win the game. Funny how things play out sometimes. I’ll be completely honest, I was one of the doubters of this team. After the 1st 6 games, I expected Gilmer to get knocked out early on and even thought Center had a good chance to beat us. Well I’ll gladly eat that crow and just say that this coaching staff has done amazing things this year in getting the right players into the right positions in the right times and doing the right things. Proud of my team, my coaches, my players and my town! It’s a GREAT day to be a #Buckeye
  4. I watched the 1st half of the Silsbee game and it was obvious #1 was not part of their original game plan. Very few targets and very few rushing opportunities. On top of that the Silsbee QB was off on several throws by what looked like 5 yards. In my very non-professional opinion, the Silsbee game plan was awful and the execution was even worse. Their offense left their defense in terrible situations and Belleville was able to keep things simple. I saw some things out of Bellville’s defense that I think Gilmer can take advantage of. I think Gilmer will be able to score some points. The biggest question is how many stops Gilmer’s defense can get?
  5. I think it’s fair to mention that the Silsbee All-World player Dre’lon Miller almost didn’t play because of an injury and was pretty much a non-factor. Not sure how much of that was pain or how much was Bellville but one of the states best athletes being less than 100% definitely played a roll.
  6. I just watched Gilmer’s final TD and they absolutely let us score.
  7. I had a lot to complain about the refs during the game but as I’m rewatching the game now I would say you are right. All those “bad calls” or “bad no calls” looked to be correct. I think I was the only Gilmer fan that wasn’t excited when Cadon scored the last TD in regulation. I knew we gave them the only chance they had and I knew they would take advantage. As someone pointed out, I don’t think the game plan was to let us score but to stop us. But if we happen to get the 1st down then let off and see if we will run it in which we obviously did. Hats off to Carthage for doing what they had to do to tie the game after that. I was nervous going into OT and even more nervous after only getting a FG in OT. Gilmer’s defense has been a major discussion point, how poetic that the DEFENSE makes a huge stop to win the game?
  8. I’ll admit I thought Gilmer had a 0% chance of winning this game. Even picked Carthage in this poll. I’m glad I was wrong! Go Buckeyes!
  9. You probably saw me. I was pretty much the lone Buckeye fan in there with an orange hoodie. Someone could have warned me I was walking into a Carthage reunion there!
  10. Subvarsity Scores: Gilmer JV - 12 PG 9 Gilmer 9th - 30 PG 38 Gilmer 8A - 46 PG 14 Gilmer 8B - 20 PG 6 Gilmer 7A - 14 PG 12 Gilmer 7B - 6 PG 12
  11. The thing is, the talent is there and the coaching is there. I’m not blaming one or the other. But something is off with this year’s team.
  12. After watching our 2 scrimmages and this game vs CHill, I would be shocked if Gilmer goes 5-5 this season.
  13. Well if you include scrimmages this is now 3 games in a row.
  14. I didn’t expect much from this team but GEEZUS!
  15. I didn’t watch the scrimmage vs Pine Tree but from what I saw from Gilmer in the Gladewater scrimmage Gilmer will have their hands full with CHill.
  16. I cringe myself listening to the Gilmer broadcast. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “He’s gonna take it to the house!” only to be tackled for a loss. That might be a slight exaggeration but you get my point. They are awful. Not saying I would do better. There’s a reason why I’ve never volunteered to do it.
  17. Anyone know if Pitt will sell tickets at the gate?
  18. PG had a total of 0 first downs in the 1st half.
  19. Don't act like Gilmer's o-line ever averages over 180. O-line will be alright ... eventually.
  20. 165? Absolutely not. That's just crazy to believe any team would field any 165 lbs linemen. They are all AT LEAST 170.
  21. I’ve heard he will be OC or Co-OC myself.
  22. As far as I know, Gilmer is pretty healthy. That's assuming no one has been hurt in practice this week.
  23. No maybe when saying Kilgore would have won it all if not for Carthage since they met in the championship game.
