You'll always be compared to Lee Fedora, basketball will try to be king, the community wants Fedora back, and Chuck Norris' C-Force bottling is just down the road from McDonald's.

    Good luck on the application!!!!

I'm trying to understand why they let him leave in the first place????  Heard it was a mess...

I think the bigger problem Friday night was O line Play.  Tate can be a playmaker and Gilmer will always have some talent at the skill positions.  But too often Friday the CH D line was in his face really quickly.

His biggest challenge might be the standard of comparison.  Anyone who has had a big brother who was a superstar knows how hard it is to play in his shadows.

You are the fourth person to express that concern that I have seen.  I just have to question how the OLINE can stop a team from scoring 71 points.  And without them, 46 of the 53 points came on offense.  So to say the OLINE was the bigger problem, well, I just can't buy it.

My hold prediction of 2022 is Hughes springs finishes DAL and Harmony wins it the district.
they gotta give coach a year or to for things to get going at HS. It’s hard to be the first guy in after a dynasty.

HMMM.   That's what everybody said about Harmony.  How'd that work out?

We had this discussion several years ago so I won't get you riled up this time like you got then.....we are taxed enough already.......like Ross Perot stated long ago, schools are for education......they don't need Taj Mahals for athletics......has zero to do with people being racist......you denigrate the vast majority of people in this region for no reason at all and with no evidence for your statement except your OWN opinion, which without evidence has no validity at all.........

Great post, as always.  I agree with what you have stated.  To add to the conversation, what are the chances an athletic department gets a return on its investment.  How many tickets do you have to sell, and how many playoff games do you have to host to pay for the stadium.  I understand the community pride that comes with it.  But the last time I checked, that JUMBOTRON didn't raise test scores.  I do know Melissa has high academics, so I can't argue that.

However, I do believe facilities, like indoor facilities, can benefit the district as a whole.  Just curious though, why does a school like Henderson have one, and a perennial power like Gilmer not???  And that my friends is where you will find the answer to most of what is being said on here.

Also just read a press release that MV put out yesterday about another proposed bond to be voted on in May at the cost of $63.9 million. Will be interested to see how it goes over considering how the $52.3 million proposal was received just one year ago.

If they call for a bond every year, they will eventually get it passed.  I know of a local district who kept at it and wore people down.  It finally got passed.  Not saying they didn't need it.  But the yays  can outlast the nays in most cases.

Being 4AD1 there should be quite a bit of interest in the Henderson job from guys looking to get their first HC gig or maybe from guys that have struggled to win elsewhere...and who knows,  maybe one of those guys will turn out to be highly successful...but splitting the HC and AD duties will likely decrease the number of candidates imo. Good thing is that things can change in a hurry in HSFB. In 2008 Henderson was 1-9...in 2010 they were raising the trophy at JerryWorld. I have my fingers crossed.

Yes they were.....And they ran him off tooooooo.....  What the heck??????!!!!!!!!!

I wish they would reach out to RJM, and he could tell them to stick IT!!!!

Coach Ed is a good man who loves Hughes Springs. The man spent his entire career there and though he may not have got a state championship he was able to get things going in the right direction. Over 100 wins in his tenure there is impressive. He didn’t have the talent of Carthage, Gilmer, or even Daingerfield, but he was able to make the football program relevant in a baseball town.

I also think the supt handled this just completely wrong. I truly believed that this should have been treated with more respect than it did. From what I understand the coaches found out through smoaky. These are people’s livelihoods, think they should know before the public.

Sorry to hear this for Coach Ed, and I truly hope he lands on his feet. I’d be cautious if I was anyone looking into this one.

What a relevant statement.  He did just that.  That may be the problem.  If you want to see how that turns out, use New Diana as your model.  Ain't good.

Congratulations Eagles! Harmony beat Marlin in the 2nd round in 2011 under Coach Russell. This will be the 2nd time they have been in the 3rd round. Hopefully, they get the win an go to the regional finals!

I misspoke.  For give me please.  I would like to congratulate Coach Jenkins and his staff for coaching those Eagles to their second playoff win in the same year.  The Eagles have never won two playoff games in the same year in the history of the program.  What a feat.
