John Tyler (6-3)(6-0) vs Jacksonville (4-5)(4-2)
QuietStrength replied to cujoforlife's topic in High School Sports
Hats off to Jacksonville, they had a great plan and came out and executed it the best they could. From here on out it doesn't have to be flashy, fancy, or cute. The offense and defense have one thing to do. Offense score 1 more than they do!. Defense hold them to 1 less than the offense scores. A W is a W and you get to keep playing. -

Not taking anything away from Kilgore's effort but they held a lead in OT, and that was because they got the ball 1st. JT responded 1 play later. -
Why is that?

who is the best QB in East Texas
QuietStrength replied to OklahomaBound's topic in High School Sports
Yale but Bush was more of a Rugby guy, Think he was a flyhalf! -
I am going to have to go with Desoto on this one! For the simple reason that their coach is so high energy that he yells while giving interviews. If that doesn't fire you up nothing will! Plus the QB coach is a West Texas guy and you can't go wrong with that!

John tyler (5-3)(5-0) @ Kilgore (5-3)(4-1)
QuietStrength replied to cujoforlife's topic in High School Sports
Offense not all that? Strange statement considering they scored 55 points and had almost 500 yards offense. Kilgore did a great job planning for the Lions. That RB is a beast. You can woulda coulda shoulda all you want doesn't change the outcome. -
who is the best QB in East Texas
QuietStrength replied to OklahomaBound's topic in High School Sports
I don't ever recall somebody calling Tommy Chang or any of the QB's from Tech the best in Nation just because they had great stats. Being in a system that allows you to throw the ball all the time is great for the record book but doesn't make you the best in East Texas. Whitehouse QB is very good, just not the best IMHO. -
John tyler (5-3)(5-0) @ Kilgore (5-3)(4-1)

I have seen both teams play. I think that this will be a much closer game than many think. Kilgore has a beast of an RB and another 1 that comes in that is good as well. I see them grinding the clock and trying to limit the Lions opprotunities. JT is an offense that can move the ball quickly down the field. It will be interesting, but I agree that is why we line it up on Friday night. -
13-4A vs 14-4A playoff pairings & scenarios
QuietStrength replied to johntylerfan's topic in High School Sports
You are incorrect sir. If JT was to advance past T-High, They would head West and play possibly the winner of Pfulgerville Hendrickson and West Mesquite/ Lancaster. HP will likely go small school again. -
Fastest RB in East Texas football
QuietStrength replied to OklahomaBound's topic in High School Sports
Wasn't the average time for a RB at the combine last year around a 4.5! I would rather have a back that is explosive through the hole than great on a track. -

I am puzzeled by your comment. You are saying that Ward couldn't be a True Pocket Passer? It is the scheme that he is in that allows him to run. As far as a QB both are very talented players. Ward does have a higher passing completion percentage. He completes 70% of his passes compared to Bivins 55%. Ward also throws the ball more than Bivins does. I know Bivins didn't start really throwing to game 3 or 4. I think that any team would be glad to have either player. -
There wasn't anybody in the bleachers that could have suited up 3rd quarter to help out?

most impressive athlete in eaast texas..

You beat me to it Cujo! -
I could see this upset happening. The midline is tough to prepare for. Whitehouse isn't exactly known for their run stop D. The real factor is that I think that Pine Tree's secondary will contain Whitehouse's big plays. Not to say that there will not be 1 or 2. PT has a very athletic secondary that rally to the ball very well. If PT can limit the turnovers and create 1 or 2 PT walks away with the W.

You have to know South Texas Football. Refugio top skill kids would match up fairly well. There top RB came from Calallen and brother was on the team that took Calallen to state. Most lineman are small but fight thier butt off. I think the real challenge would be conditioning. Late in the 4th. But last time I talked to people down there. Almost every boy in the school played football. Refugio has good numbers.

New and improved, Best QB in East Texas. . .
QuietStrength replied to WP4L's topic in High School Sports
Ward has accounted for 2363 yards of offense. That is #5 in the state all divisions. He has 17 Passing TD and 10 Rushing. Ward is not just an athlete! He is completing 72% of his passes. He is an atthletic QB. -

They have given up 148. -
depends on the size of your QB hands. I like GST 1003, Nike, and Wilson TDS 1205

Haggerty is the back-up and was out for the game, The next back-up got banged up on defense. -
John Tyler (2-3)(2-0) vs Pine Tree (0-3)(0-2)
QuietStrength replied to cujoforlife's topic in High School Sports
That is very true that JT was 0-3 this year, and they were 2-1 vs the same teams the year before. With the loss to Lufkin coming by a last second field goal. JT is still a very young team.
