  1. What chapter does SS use for officiating? I know they don't use the MP Chapter, but they might want to consider changing. I can promise you the guys who would have been assigned to that game would not have handled the game the way this one was handled. Take the game in MP for example, exact same thing happened, huge crowd, level of intensity was extremely high and words were exchanged. Not one technical was handed out in that contest, even when Savage and SS #0 got tied up. Referee stepped in and talked to both kids and everything was fine. What was the total on T's last night? Was it 5 for MP and 4 for SS or 4 for MP and 3 for SS?
  2. Congrats to SS, best team won both match ups. Good luck in the postseason! I have never seen so many T's handed out and I felt most could have been handled differently. I made the comment in the JV game that that crew seemed to want it to be about them and they certainly did. Again, not bad either way and had nothing to do with the outcome. A guy sitting next to me said they must not wear the pants at home so they officiate, so they can be in charge. Pretty good observation in my opinion. I was also impressed with the way SS kids acted on the court. Can't say the same for our kids.
  3. Referees have nothing to do with the score, but I hate it when they take a big game like this and make it about themselves.
  4. What's crazy about the fan ejection, I have never seen him at a MP basketball game. Thanks for the info and Good Luck tonight, I hope it is as good as the last one!
  5. Gotcha-thanks! One more question and I should know the answer to this one, but I can't remember from gym to gym. Does SS gym allow food and drinks inside the gymnasium? So many schools have stopped allowing this, which in my opinion is costing them money but I guess the cleanup offsets the profit??? I hate to show up and find out when I get there when I could have stopped along the way. Thanks again!
  6. I know this is impossible to answer, but I would love some feedback from SS folks. We just received a notification saying we should arrive by 5 to get in. I know the earlier the better, but 5 is awful early for working folks. I also know the SS gym is smaller than MP and MP was sold out in the earlier meeting. Last year the you were safe if you arrived by halftime of the JV contest. What are yall hearing in SS? I have been in your gym on multiple occasions but I can't tell you how much smaller it is that the MP Gym. Thanks
  7. Girls-Texas High 53-48 over MP Boys-MP big over Texas High. Not sure of final but it was like 26 points.
  8. Couldn't agree more. I guess it could not have been avoided, but John Tyler and Texas High from strictly a travel perspective-wow!
  9. I would agree with several others who have posted. I have seen them a couple of times and they are good. How deep can they go, who knows? Going to deep in this region will be tough for whoever makes it out. Get hot at the right time and have a little luck in the process. Our District has not fared well going deep in recent years, I hope this year is different.
  10. i may not be correct, but I believe MV and Winnsboro both have 2 losses now in District. 4th is out of the question. MV and Winsboro play Tuesday night and MV and CH play Friday, so 2nd is still a real possibility.
  11. 44-41 CH with 43 seconds. CH ball coming out of TO
  12. Not sure about the #3 team in the state, but who can be sure, that is just a ranking. I have seen them on multiple occasions and they are very good. Saw the loss to Woden and then, like already mentioned, they beat Woden a week or so later. Saw the fairly close win against Winnsboro and saw them blowout Mount Vernon in MV. My concerns are, they have not played very good competition in a large majority of their games. This is not all his fault because he cannot make the other teams outside of MV and Winnsboro better. My other concern is lack of minutes behind his top 6 girls. He is a heckuva coach based on history, but only plays 6 girls and I have seen on numerous occasions the opportunity to get some of the other girls some quality playing time and he just doesn't, but hard to argue with his success. I hope one of those top 6 doesn't get in foul trouble or dinged up when it becomes crunch time.
  13. You are correct, my bad! I still can't get over the crowd and I have been attending games in the Willie Williams gym since it was opened and that was without a doubt the largest crowd ever in that gym. Had a few playoff games that were close but not with folks standing in all 4 corners. Packed gyms still happen at the smaller schools and I understand gym size has something to do with that, but the following is just not there for our District pretty much in all sports. I counted 33 Marshall fans last Friday night and I think some of those were actually MP fans. It was fun and congrats to SS and good luck to both teams moving forward.
  14. SS up 51-49 with 55 seconds left and will have the ball coming out of a TO
  15. 44-44 with 3:43 left in MP-SS game. BTW, standing room only, neat to see around here for a 5A game!
  16. I feel like in order for Mount Pleasant to play with SS tonight, we will have to be hot from behind the arc. In recent games, the 3 ball has not been falling and we have had to depend on our defense to force turnovers and get easy baskets. We are weak in the post and therefore have to depend on the 3 in the half court set. If we cannot hit the 3 and SS can handle our pressure, this one may not be as close as I would like for it to be. With all of that said, in big games we have several kids that seem to step it up, so I am looking forward to seeing it.
  17. This week: Mount Vernon will be on 95.9 Hughes Springs will be on 96.9 Daingeefield will be on 97.7 All can be found at easttexasradio.com
  18. Mount Pleasant Basketball will be pretty competitive again this season. They will miss big James Moore in the paint but should still be pretty good. Opened the season with a win against Greenhill (I don't know anything about them, heard a private school that was suppose to be pretty good) 70-51 Then competed in the Frisco Lonestar Thanksgiving Classic. Opened with a 62-56 loss to OKC Storm, beat Frisco Lone Star 54-44, beat Carrollton Creekview 52-33, and lost to Frisco Liberty 74-61
