  1. Henderson's other loss on Thursday of the PG Tourney was to a Home School Team out of Houston. I would assume if they came this far, they must be decent. Should find out fairly quickly with PG, T-High and Clarksville all in this tourney. Texarkana Gazette is covering this tourney.
  2. MP over Longview last night in Varsity Boys 48-37. I believe they sit 8-3 with wins over PG, Terrell, Idabel, Liberty Christian, Haltom CIty, John Tyler, Jefferson and Longview. Losses to Richland, Paris and Bossier. I saw where SS fell to Paris last night in a close on and I believe they are now 11-2 and I saw where Hallsville is 11-2 and Greenville is 6-6. Hearing T-High is doing well, but don't know record and haven't heard much about the rest of the District. Should be a fun one to follow.
  3. MP had one good scoring drive and that was about it as far as sustained drives. Moved the ball fairly well on a couple of other possessions, but penalties or fumbles hurt those drives. Rained pretty good during a portion of scrimmage and neither team handled that very well. Word I have gotten on N Forney is that are not very good. We will see!
  4. PG should be fun to watch this season. Lots of good looking young men. Probably be called a homer, but on the fumble I felt like the whistle blew before the fumble, but that is just my opinion. You guys also lost a turnover when we were inside the 1 and fumbled and PG recovered but were called for offsides. From where I was sitting, I couldn't tell, but it must have been blatant because they do not call much in scrimmages. Hope yall have a great season!
  5. PG scored 3 touchdowns to Mount Pleasant's none in the controlled portion of the scrimmage. I upset an LE fan by saying how I had the breakdown last week, so this week I will be more clear. With MP's 1's on the field PG won 1-0, with MP's 2's on the field PG won 1-0 and with a combination of MP's 2-3's PG won 1-0. Who PG had on the field, I have no idea, I do know they had a different QB in each of the three series. In the live two quarters MP won 17-14. Turnovers hurt PG and set up MP in great field position on 2 of the 3 scoring drives. Thought all and all it was a pretty good scrimmage for both teams. MP looked much better in the live two quarters than they have looked so far. The Sophomore QB made several plays with his feet and the little running back ran hard. Still have serious concerns over the lack of any type of passing game. That hurt us last year and I have not seen anything that shows we can keep defenses honest by completing a few passes. Defense looked better this week. With the exception of a few long pass plays they were much improved. Scrimmages are what they are, scrimmages. Ready for the season to begin. Good luck to both squads moving forward.
  6. I would have to go with Mavchamps most recent predictions at this point. I had MP going in the #4 slot over SS, but without Holloman, it will be tough. Hoping someone call fill his shoes, but they are big shoes to fill. Someone asked on another thread what happened to him and I will simply say it is not necessary to go into details at this time, but it does not look good for him at this time.
  7. Holloman did not play and may be done for the season from the reports I am hearing. I had it 14-0 in live two quarters and 1-0 LE with 1st teamers and 4-0 LE with 2nd teamers, but what difference does that really make. LE has a good squad. Fully understanding it is the first scrimmage I was real disappointed in how we looked. Run defense was pretty bad and lots of open receivers running around for LE. On offense we did very little, tried lots of backs and I was not impressed with any of them. Felt like with our O-Line I could run behind them and that was not the case. Inability to throw the ball killed us last year and did not see much that made me think it will be different this year, but it is early. Not sure what to think, first scrimmage for both and hopefully we can take it and improve but I am little concerned at this point.
  8. Probably the same ump that called the Whitehouse-SS Playoff Series in 2012 or 2013 and was very questionable in that series. I later learned that he was either a groomsman or best man in the coach for Whitehouse's wedding. My understanding was that he could not call anymore Whitehouse games in District or the Playoffs. He did however call behind the plate in a non-district matchup between Whitehouse and Mount Pleasant in 2014 (Mahomes vs Kopech) and cost MP in that game as well.
  9. MP closes out their season with 4-3 win over T-High. A huge improvement over last season, hate they couldn't slip into that 4 spot.
  10. MP Ladies win Game 1 over Whitehouse 4-2. T-High Ladies fall to Lufkin 7-4.
  11. Baseball: SS over MP 4-3 in 8 innings Softball plays tonight.
  12. MP over Greenville 13-0. Finally get a District road W!
  13. Softball-Texas High over MP 6-5 Baseball-Texas High over MP 6-2
  14. Mavchamo had it right, Marshall 4-1 over MO. Eyes are getting real bad in my old age and can't see my phone very well! NICE upgrade on the bleachers in Marshall. One other note about Matshall, by far the best baseball concession stand food I have seen in a while. Good job to the crew in Matshall-that takes a lot of work to pull that off!
  15. Marshall boys over MP 6-1. MP girls over Marshall 3-1.
  16. I agree. The kids have worked their tails off to get to this point. Still not overly talented, but they are scrappy. Coach Windham has done a great job getting them to this point. Should be in most ballgames, just need to walk away with a few more wins to get into the Playoffs.
  17. Mount Pleasant will be improved, how much depends on QB play and improving on the defensive side of the ball. Holloman returning along with the massive O-Line will keep us in some games, but we MUST be able to move the ball through the air and I am not sure how that is going to happen. Starter returns at QB, but not sure he is the answer unless he can improve on his accuracy. The Morris kid is going to be a special athlete, just not sure he can step in and be much better. In my opinion, this is the key to keep teams from stacking 8-9 men in the box to stop our running game. The big O-Line has been working hard in the offseason. Saw several of them at a baseball game and it shows. Should be fun to see how it all shakes out.
