  1. Mount Pleasant beat Carrollton Newman Smith 1-0 in 8 innings this past Saturday.
  2. Score of MP-TH softball game was 7-2. Not sure on exact record, heard it was like 11-8 but will try to confirm. MP Boys are 3-5-2 on the season.
  3. MP opened District last night with a 16-1 win over Greenville. Do not see Greenville winning a District game unless they were missing several players.
  4. MP Ladies are 2-0 in District with wins over Marshall and Texas High. I can't remember the Marshall score, but they beat Texas High 7-2 last night.
  5. MP beat Henderson on Friday 9-8 and tied Rusk 7-7 on Saturday to move to 2-5-2 on the season.
  6. Mount Pleasant lost to Center today 7-2 and Lost to Pollock Central 6-5.
  7. Mount Pleasant finished the Argyle Tourney 1-3-1. Opened with a win over Red Oak 8-4. Lost to Joshua 3-0. Tied Hillcrest 4-4 (led 4-3 in the 7th). Lost 4-2 to Hillcrest and got spanked by Argyle 11-3. Pitching was pretty good for four games, hitting was a problem last year and may be a problem again this year.
  8. MP beat Red Oak 8-4 and lost to Joshua 3-0 on Thursday in Argyle.
  9. Not to early IMO. Basketball is over for everyone but you guys and I appreciate the job you do keeping us all posted. Wished every District in ET had a Mavchamp. Mount Pleasant will be improved, hard not to say after a 2-19 campaign. We were very young last year. We have played 4 scrimmages (Lost to PG, Beat Pitt, Brownsboro, and Atlanta) so far and have looked better than we did at any point last year, just my opinion. I don't put much stock in W's and L's in scrimmages other than to say we were more competitive. Teams can still have kids in basketball and typically throw multiple kids, bat their entire line-up, etc., but when you go 2-19, the kids need to get a taste of a W even if it is a scrimmage. We open in the Argyle Tourney today. Face Red Oak at 3, Joshua at 5, then tomorrow we play Hillcrest at 3, Lake Dallas at 5 and finish off with Argyle at 2 on Saturday. Praying for better baseball weather this Spring and Good Luck to everyone!
  10. I would agree that CH was over-rated and Garrett has only been at CH for one year so I can't say much about him and his ability to influence the polls. I will say that he has had a lot of success at several spots which would indicate possibly some favoritism in the polls. Whitewright was very sound defensively and gave CH fits all night. They will struggle to score against a team that plays better D than CH. CH was very slow on D and it hurt them badly. The Swoopes girl can play and the PG #3 is not bad either, but besides those two they are fairly limited. It will be interesting to see how the MV-Winnsboro game comes out to see how over-rated CH really was as well.
  11. Not taking anything away from DeKalb and I absolutely understand there is a reason you play the game. Just don't see it happening. MV vs Winnsboro will be a great matchup. I have only seen Winnsboro once early and have seen MV twice during District play. One of the reasons playoff basketball is so tough on a fan, which game to attend. Probably not likely, but wish this game could be played on Monday night.
  12. Don't think that this will be much of a contest. The Gray girl from DeKalb can play and has pretty good size, but they lost their other scorer to a torn ACL the last game of District. Don't see one scorer being able to keep it close.
  13. Always interesting to me how folks attack the School Board. These are elected positions and you have the right to vote and run for those spots. Mike Waldie is a great guy and will be fine if he has support from the community and if not, you will get what you ask for. $80,000 for a 3A Head Coach is pretty good money for a 3A job.
  14. Kind of late but in the girl's game MP beat PT 53-29.
  15. MP played extremely well which I am sure contributed to Hallsville playing poorly but Hallsville did not play well.
  16. Boys-MP wins over Hallsville 53-36. Never was really a contest on this particular night.
  17. Haven't seen MP's schedule yet. All I can say about MP is what you saw last year with another year's experience. Everyone knows Holloman is special and the massive O-Line will be better. QB play is the key and I am not sure there is an answer. The young man who started last year is back. The Freshman kid (Morris) received a few snaps on the varsity level but he will be a work in progress but could be special before it is all said and done. Defensively about the same with a year of experience. The group of seniors next season have been talked about for a while, it should be interesting!
  18. Surely Hooks and DeKalb will win in the first round. Daingerfield is pretty dang good and will win 16-3A, Chapel Hill looks like they will finish #2 but have a big game with Mount Vernon next Tuesday. Have seen everyone in 16-3A play and I can't see Hooks and DeKalb not winning against the #3 and #4 out of 16-3A. I am going to the Hooks-DeKalb game tonight, so my opinion may change.
  19. Here is an attempt: Boys Daingerfield 6-0 ??? Ranked #24 in latest poll MP-Chapel Hill 5-1 16-9 Mount Vernon 4-2 21-4 Queen City 3-3 ??? Linden-Kildare 0-4 ??? Paul Pewitt 0-4 ??? Hughes Springs 0-4 ??? Girls MP-Chapel Hill 8-0 23-7 Ranked #14 in latest poll Mount Vernon 7-1 15-5 Paul Pewitt 5-3 10-11 Queen City 4-4 ??? Linden Kildare 2-4 ??? Hughes Springs 1-7 7-21 Daingerfield 1-7 3-22
  20. Girls-MP over PT, not sure of final but it was 60 something to 30 something
