  1. Anyone have any idea which stadiums will host playoff games ?
  2. Hey joining is easy. Contact a local chapter.
  3. It defines a mind set . I'm glad he apologized I hope he really means it now it's time to learn actions come with action in return .I don't care if it was pre meditated . All I care about was it was intentional attempt to injure. No one has the right to play football . They have the privelage to play. With this one intentional act attempting to be sneaky and attempt to cause injury he loses his privelage .
  4. I played for a man that would of collected my equipment . Sent me to the office for a schedule change and I'd be the only person in athletics period to get an F on my report card.
  5. Prayers for the Lewis Family and Union Grove Community.
  6. Welcome back to coaching Coach Nail. It's been my pleasure to have officiated games for Coach Nail in the past. I can say he was one of the best coaches I've seen in action. A true class act.
  7. When a player is suspended and forfeits his pay . Does that give credit to the teams salary cap?
  8. I wish coach Nail all the best as he moves forward. As an official we see and interact with a lot of coaches . Coach Nail was always a Class act. Texas High School Football lost a good one with his retirement.
  9. HMMMM... I cant imagine a somebody sayin a ugly word on the side line..............lol
  10. 1. Brian Song the original 2. Rudy 3.Remember the Titans 4.The Longest Yard the original 5. Slap Shot (putting on the foil)
  11. You should of seen the tantrum I was throwing in my living room . Good Grief
  12. Yell at the AD and you might be talking to the DA.
  13. Just watched it on channel 2. What a great game to watch..
  14. So many issues where do I start.. Yes I am a homer for the officials they need a few homers its a tough job and very few have the guts to do it. I don't know what crews you are referring to or if any of your examples are correct and the calls were missed in your game. I see that some of the comments on this thread show some knowledge of football and the rules. But I only see part of the plays used as an example. Holding by an offensive lineman is usually (but not always) called at the line of scrimmage. The pictures doesn't show all the time that elapsed from the snap until the ball was outside. That's probably at least 1/2 of the time the ball was live. Holding doesn't have to last a long time it could be just a grab and pull then let go. It could last only for a second but if it breaks the play or prevents a man from getting there in time to make the play then its holding. It might be they got the number wrong. But I would say If holding was called there was a hold by someone somewhere that made a flag come out. 1st and 10 after a 5 yard penalty? Yes it possible. If because of an offside penalty on the defense it was a first and 5 then a 5 yard penalty on offense it would be 1st and 10. The quality in officiating is directly and absolutely affected by the number of officials doing it. The number of experienced and qualified officials is going down due to officials getting out of the business for one reason or another. The number of people willing and with the guts to start doing it continues to be less and less every year. Its math, if the number of officials quitting is more than then the number joining and getting experience then the quality on the field is going to be less than you would like. If we have 25 games that need officiated and only 20 experienced crews that means 5 crews will be on the field getting on the job training. Will there be mistakes? YES. Will they be a little slower in making decisions ? YES. Will they miss something? YES. Will they do anything TO AFFECT THE OUTCOME? NO!!!!!! Why would you think your game was such a big deal an official would cheat which is what that comment suggests. That's an insult to all the men that put on the stripes to do a thankless job. They are doing the best they can and are learning . They are doing a job sometimes for the first time and doing it with 5 men in a game that takes college and pros 7 to do. The views and observations posted on this thread shows that some of you have a good eye for football. Let the game of football benefit from that and join a local chapter.
  15. Now That's funny right there tru storie
  16. Rye Grass peanut butter smooth or crunchy
  17. I think schools are too quick to replace coaches I see a lot of good coaches move on before they get a fair shot. A coach can not be fairly judged until he has a chance to bring a group of freshman to their senior year. Then his system can be truly evaluated. Just My Opinion.
  18. Mr Doomer popcorn without butter please . Its hard to get the stains off a white hat ! Thanks for the thread. Its is nice to hear ! For those interested in becoming officials please contact a local chapter .
  19. There is no truth to that statement. Officials have no power. They have the rules. They enforce the rules as they are written. The Coaches have the power. They choose who officiates thier games and can scratch a crew or not invite them to return pretty much for any reason. I promise no High School official is there for the compensation they recieve for calling a game. Although most would not be able to call without it. This is not the profitable NFL that pay $$$ for games. This is Cash Strapped ISD.'s the compensation is $50- $75 on average. While the games last 2 1/2 - 3 hrs. The Officials will clock out and leave work around 4:00 drive to where ever they are going to be working. Many times thats 100 or more miles from home one way and be at the site 2hrs before kick off. They work the game then drive home. Almost always getting home well after midnight. Thats at least 8 hrs spent directly related to the game on game days. Officials do it for love of football not the $$$. Now to get to a point in the original post We must be professional in our attitude, demeanor and appearance. Working with shirt tails out and hats on sideways and or being lazy Should be reported to the Chapter they work out of so that can be addressed. I don't know which chapter you are referring to but I assure the leadership of that chapter would want to know if they had a member representing the officials in that way. There is a serious shortage in officials and if you would like to help the game of football please contact a local chapter and join. Every year Officials retire for one reason or another. Very Soon if not already we will have more hanging it up then we have joining. Football will suffer.
  20. Yes In an effort to get them to wear helments that fit properly. and to button up that chin strap. If it comes off they have to leave for one play. If it comes off during a play they must stop and not participate beyond the action they are in at the time it comes off. For example if they are blocking and in contact when it comes off they can stay on that block. But as soon as there is seperation they have to stop and not participate any longer. THEY HAVE TO STOP ! not participate or pursue the play. Obviously it would be illegal to hit a player without a helment. It is also illegal for the player to continue to participate in the play without his helment. Personal Foul 15yrds in either case.
  21. now that would make for a long bus ride if the ventilation isn't good.
