  1. Overton went 13-2 in 1995 and lost to eventual state champ Thorndale 39-19 in the semifinals. Back then there were only single divisions, no DI or DII. I took this photo during the Fog Bowl game with them in Fairfield. This is LB Zach English tackling All-State RB Twone Simmons for a loss. Back before digital, I scanned this photo to my computer.
  2. I think i have to go with Mt Enterprise on this one...ME is on a roll
  3. It's a violent game, full of collisions...I received some of those and gave a few myself.
  4. So we can agree to assume... You can get hurt in a multitude of ways in football.
  5. As you should be able to see in the photos he was leading with his shoulder and not his helmet (middle photo). It was clean and your "assumption" is completely incorrect. But I will "assume" you're from Price/Henderson...if it had been the other way around you would have said, "What a clean hit"...
  6. I'm sure you will not reply or acknowledge this in regards to the "Then they bend our qb back after he was down hurting him and no flag."...I am watching the video on Youtube of the game (you can go watch it, 6:21in the second quarter) and the QB scrambled and was tackled by #73 and one leg slid in the mud...the ball came lose and Overton players went for the ball, but refs ruled him down. No late hit. This was good to see last Friday ...seems like the students get along fine,
  7. I don't see Cushing winning by 8+ against ME...Carlisle should get by Alto giving them the fourth seed...but you never know
  8. The thing about streaks...they get broken Jayden Edwards (20) had four TD catches...11 receptions for 243 yards...this one pictured was the first.
  9. Yes, the refs beat you... I will say losing your center last week hurt Carlisle on several snaps, but you did have a week to get a new one ready. It was the slick muddy turf that hurt your QB. Your comment reminds me of an old saying, "If and's and but's were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas." Carlisle has a good young team and they played a heck of a first half for sure. Stopped Overton in the red zone like three times. Twice inside the 10. It's difficult for you to give props to Overton, isn't it?
  10. Last year's team only had six seniors and only four of those started. Had a JV last year that got to play a few games mostly against larger schools. Overton lost four games by fourteen points and two by a couple of TDs each. So, the potential was definitely there is year. A couple moved out of Overton (one to Whitehouse who was a state-qualifying powerlifter) and a couple more moved to Overton. So, yes the team was somewhat young last year. A total of twelve seniors this year, ten who start (four play offense and defense). Their twenty-one-member, (twelve are freshmen) JV has had several games, again most against larger schools (tied with the Lindale freshman team). Three freshmen are on the varsity and two start. So, next year looks promising.
  11. If Alto can put together two halves like the first half they had against Overton, they might get a win...I'm hoping for an upset. DCTF has Cushing winning by 16.
  12. I guess it depends on what you mean by "good"...have they beaten a powerhouse team, no...will they be at AT&T in December, don't think so...but they might get one or two playoff wins depending on where they get seeded...have they put up good offensive numbers, yes. I think when you are 8-0 as a team, you're pretty good...when you have a QB that has passed for over 2000 yards with two games to play and a decent running game over 1300 yards. To Overton fans, they are pretty good, lol.

  14. Yeah, I like taking photos there... just one I took in 2021, Timpson v Centerville
  15. Well, I'm going to beat the drum for the smaller schools, 2A and 3A. The real fact is if your student has all the attributes of being a great football player, the colleges will find him. For example, most recently, Terry Bussey 2A Timpson and Tyree Wilson played at 3A West Rusk, now with the Las Vegas Raiders. 3A Arp's (Arp, not far from Tyler) DeMarvion Overshown played for the Longhorns and was drafted by the Cowboys. Johnathon Brooks 2A Hallettsville (starting RB for Texas Longhorns). Examples from several years back, are Leonard Davis from 2A Wortham (Longhorns and Cowboys), 2A David Overstreet (OU and Miami), Traylon Shead from 2A Cayuga (UT/SMU), and Rodney Thomas from 2A (then 3A) Groveton (A&M and Oilers). Probably many I can't recall, but I did see all these players in action. Again just saying if a student/athlete is a quality player, the colleges will find them. They can really stand out at the smaller schools.
  16. MUSTANGMANIA, I've observed this year that the players keep their composure, encourage each other, and don't seem to get rattled. Myself, I get rattled when it's been close, lol. Hopefully, it'll be a good game and sportsmanship will be at a premium. Go Mustangs!
