LO will put 8 in the box to stop the NB running attack. They run the spread, almost exclusively, which may not fare well for NB with their secondary woes. LO is well coached and will play tough, assignment football. The NB defensive ends can make this game for NB by getting pressure on the QB.

DF is on its way to another state championship. The second season started with their bye week.

Lets hope the head coach can get ahold of the issue really fast. Its a reflection on him more so than anyone else. MuleSlicks makes a good point. Last year MV had high hopes dropping from 3A into this district. They quickly found out this district has teams that don't make he playoffs that could win a lot of districts. Maybe the frustration of not having a better showing is getting to them. Its just a guess and it doesn't really matter, but the folks in charge sure need to get the attitude and behavior turned around before somebody starts looking to make an issue out of them.

What's going on with MV? I heard they had several unsportsmanlike penalties and two ejections last Friday against Redwater. Sounds like NB better be on alert. They weren't that way when they played us.

NB's second team offense is no where close to what the first team can do. NB better hope they can stay healthy for the playoff run week after next. The second team defense is pretty good.

This might be a good game since NB is down to their third string QB. This game will determine the second place team for the playoffs the next week. Athleticism wins out -- NB 27 MV 21.

Well, my boy has senior night tonight. I sure have mixed feelings about it. I know time marches on and he will be moving on to the next stage in life. But, I am sure not ready to stop watching from the stands. To my son and all the other Seniors, thanks for all the wonderful on the field memories!

Will anyone be giving updates on this game on this thread? I am headed to the Hughes Springs - Elysian Fields game to see if the Mustangs can take revenge for last years playoff loss to EF.

You are right! In the games I have seen NB play this year and last, they could have opened up on the opponent if they would throw. The prime example of that was the playoff loss to Daingerfield last year. I am not optimistic that in week 8 a downfield passing attack is going to appear as the offensive game plan. NB can run the ball through the balance of their district games and probably through round 2 of the playoffs, but after that, they look really one dimensional.
